Overview of characteristics of the Archon block crossbow

Overview of characteristics of the Archon block crossbow

The lucky owners of the Archon compound crossbow greatly admire it. How can you not admire your new acquisition if you paid a tidy sum of your hard-earned rubles for it? However, the crossbow is really quite good and below I will give a brief description of its technical characteristics. Crossbow manufacturers do not stand still in terms of technical innovations and successfully implement them into their products. The Archon crossbow also underwent changes.

Its shoulders are attached using the original TPS suspension system. To separate the arm arcs from each other, special pocket gaskets “TRK” are used, and with their help, the arcs are separated from the plates of the suspension system. This innovative solution has dramatically increased stability and reduced vibration and noise during firing by more than fifty percent. Also in the crossbow, “Brownell Ultra-Cam” cables were used high, which significantly increased the working stroke of the bowstring, which is equal to 355 millimeters.

The crossbow has a fairly compact width from axle to axle, and in the cocked position it is only 445 millimeters, which allows the hunter to maintain maneuverability even in very dense forest.

The developers of the Archon crossbow used completely new and unique design solutions, which made it possible to ensure an unusually soft descent and silent shot. And also a complete absence of vibration, and this despite the fact that the crossbow has very high power, and its initial arrow flight speed is 115 m/s. For a crossbow of this class, the speed is quite decent.

When testing the crossbow in field conditions, the “PowerTouch” trigger proved itself to be excellent. When using this important part in the design of the crossbow, the trigger force is reduced to 1.6 kg. When developing the design, the original coloring in the “NEXT Generation G1” camouflage style was used, giving the crossbow a very menacing and fantastic look.

You can endlessly admire this wonderful weapon, in which shooting efficiency, power and beauty are intertwined, but it’s time to return, as they say, to prose and turn to the boring numbers of the technical data of the Archon crossbow , which, however, will only emphasize its magnificence. So, here are the technical characteristics of the crossbow:

Weapon weight (kg): 4.2

Manufacturer: Interloper campaign.

Boom length (inch): 20'', 22''.

Case length (mm): 92cm/55cm/18cm.

Crossbow type: block

Initial boom speed (m/s): 115 m/s (380fps).

Tension force (kg): 43kg/90kg (95/200lbs), that is, it can be increased to 90 kg by strengthening the crossbow's shoulders, which is provided for by its design.

Features of hunting.

The features of hunting with a crossbow are the same as with conventional weapons. First of all, it’s worth knowing the animal’s vulnerabilities. It is best to target the heart, liver, lungs. It’s worse if the arrow hits the shoulder blade area or above the front leg. It is worth noting that when shooting an arrow with a hunting tip from a crossbow, the blood loss is significantly higher than from a firearm and the animal has no chance. It should be remembered that the hunter has a second chance to shoot due to the lack of noise when shooting from a crossbow or bow. It is very important to monitor the condition of the bowstring on the crossbow so that it is not nicked or damaged. It is important to follow safety precautions while hunting. One of the main requirements is to watch your fingers. If you get caught on the bowstring during a shot, your fingers can be damaged. In addition, when firing, you should watch the shoulders of the crossbow so that they do not come into contact with the branches.

With a modern powerful crossbow for hunting, you can also hunt roe deer, beaver, and if you have You have enough spirit, even for a bear.

How to strengthen a crossbow

How to strengthen a crossbow

Why strengthen the crossbow? Increasing the tension force will increase the range of aimed shooting and the power of the shot. But before strengthening your crossbow, you should know that according to the legislation of Ukraine, crossbows with a tension force of more than 20 kg are considered weapons and their storage and carrying is possible only with the appropriate permission. Now directly to the topic. You can strengthen your crossbow in 3 ways. This is shortening the bowstring, changing the stroke length of the bowstring and installing a reinforced arc. Let's say right away that the first two methods are impractical, since in order to change the stroke length of the bowstring, you need to make significant design changes to the crossbow - move the trigger mechanism, and shortening the crossbow string makes sense when using particularly light and strong synthetic threads, and also does not give much increase in power due to the same design limitations. The simplest, but at the same time the most effective method remains - installing a reinforced arc. No special devices are required to install the reinforced arc. It has a similar design to a conventional arc. At the same time as installing the reinforced arch, we recommend that you immediately take a bowstring tensioner, because it is not very convenient to pull 68 kg by hand. And also a good arrow catcher, so you don’t have to buy a new arrow for each shot. Most models support the installation of a reinforced arc, but there are models whose locks and trigger mechanism cannot withstand such a force (usually reinforced arcs are designed for 68 kg).

Before purchasing a crossbow, pay attention to the description or check with the seller whether it is possible to install a reinforced arc. Installing a reinforced bow on a crossbow that is not designed for such force is fraught with disastrous consequences (uncontrolled release, breakage of locks when tensioned, breakdown of the trigger mechanism) and we recommend under no circumstances trying to strengthen a crossbow that is not designed for this purpose. Here is a small list of crossbows on which you can install a reinforced arc - these are crossbows of the Man Kung MK-150, MK-175, MK-200, XB21, XB23 series, as well as the Poe Lang CR-042G1A4NS-40 model. You can find reinforced arcs in the section crossbow accessories.
