A military ID plays an important role in the life of a citizen liable for military service. It is included in the list of basic documentation and is second in importance only to the civil passport. Many conscripts, having received a military ID, are interested in what the “B” category assigned to them in the military ID means.
The presence of a military ID proves that a citizen of the country has been registered with the military. In addition, this document contains information about what military rank the person holds and what health category he has.
Conscripts: degree of suitability
Before a conscript is sent to military service, he undergoes a thorough examination in medical institutions at the military registration and enlistment office. Based on the doctors’ conclusions, a decision is made whether the young man will serve or not. There are many problems with a person’s health that prevent him from being considered fit. In this case, people of military age receive the long-awaited group B or D for many, with whom they are not called up for compulsory military service.
When medical professionals decide that a person is suitable for conscription into the army, then based on these indications the degree of suitability of the future soldier is determined. There may be several of them: A, B or C. They are called up for military service, but with minor differences. And based on this data, they enroll in the appropriate branches of the military.
Diseases for which category “B” is assigned
When assigning a specific degree of fitness to a conscript, members of the medical commission at the military registration and enlistment office rely on the “Schedule of Diseases.” The article is constantly being updated and includes a list of all diseases that impose restrictions on military service. The presence of this category may be associated with the presence of the following pathologies:
- parasitic and infectious nature;
- blood diseases affecting the immune system;
- neoplasms of a benign or malignant nature;
- disturbances in the endocrine system and metabolic processes;
- diseases that have a negative impact on the nervous system;
- mental disorders;
- severe visual defects;
- hearing problems;
- respiratory diseases;
- diseases that impair blood circulation (this includes mild heart failure);
- severe deviations in the functioning of the digestive system;
- chronic skin diseases;
- pathologies of the musculoskeletal system (an example is disc protrusion);
- diseases of the genitourinary organs (this includes varicocele);
- the citizen lacks 10 teeth or more;
- congenital defects: short stature (less than 150 cm) or low weight (less than 45 kg).
Each item on this list can be studied in detail by referring to the “Schedule of Diseases”.
Group B variety
The most interesting group is divided into several subgroups; they indicate where the conscript will be sent to serve.
So, subgroups for those with limited fitness:
B1 – people of military age, fit for health reasons. They are called up for military service in the following types of armed forces: airborne, border or air assault troops.
B2 – conscripts who are fit for health reasons. They can serve on submarines, underwater ships, in tank, artillery, and engineering troops based on tanks and tractors.
B3 - young men of military age, fit for health reasons, who can receive such military specialties as the driver and crew members of infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers and missile launchers, and a specialist in refueling and storing fuel. Service in some units of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, guard units, chemical units, and anti-aircraft missile units is also available to them.
B4 – conscripts fit for health reasons who will serve as security and defense specialists for combat missile systems. Communications, radio engineering and other units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, other troops, military formations and bodies are also available to them.
Young people who plan to connect their future lives with such types of occupations as service in the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD), in the Federal Security Service (FSB), as well as in the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN), simply need to serve in the armed forces in categories A or B, and in any subcategory, from B1 to B4.
And vice versa, conscripts who need to receive a “white ticket” due to various reasons must fall into group B or D. It must be understood that with such a degree of suitability, the young man’s path to the bodies and services described above is closed.
Suitability category B4
- How is conscription carried out?
- B3 and B4: main differences
How to decipher fitness category B4? First of all, you should study the list of conscription categories. In this way, the citizen will know where he will be sent to serve. To issue permission to join the army, you must pass a commission. It is important to emphasize: if a conscript tries to evade conscription, he may face criminal or administrative liability.
Fitness category "A"
In general, category A is the green light for military service. Recruits "a-shnik" are considered absolutely healthy and subject to timely conscription. Group A is divided into several categories:
- A1 is an absolutely healthy young man who does not have any pathologies or chronic diseases; suitable for all types of load and service, suitable. It is an indicator of excellent health and excellent external data. Such young people are welcome in military units, and they often remain to serve under contract after completing compulsory service. Conscripts fall into this category extremely rarely, because in the conditions of modern ecology and lifestyle, ideally healthy people are practically not found.
- A2 – a healthy young man who does not have chronic or acute diseases, but has previously been seriously ill or suffered an injury (concussion or any fracture); good These conditions are not an obstacle to serving in special forces.
- A3 is a young man with good health and immunity, but he was found to have minor deviations (for example, vision problems of two diopters in both directions); good Subject to conscription, but with subsequent selection.
- A4 – a healthy and physically strong man, but not without minor foot problems (this includes first-degree flatfoot); good Subject to conscription, however, with subsequent control and selection (a limitation will be established on the list of troops).
Fitness category "D"
Young people who fall into this group are considered unfit for military service under any conditions - this is indicated on the military ID with the appropriate stamp. As a rule, this group includes young people with serious diseases and abnormalities such as HIV infection, the absence of any organ, glaucoma, and strokes.
Categories that determine the suitability of a conscript
There are five main categories that are set by the draft board.
These categories indicate the suitability or unsuitability of a young conscript to begin performing army duties:
- category “A” is issued to conscripts who are fully fit for military service and have no restrictions on their assignment to specific troops;
- category “B” also indicates the suitability of the conscript, but has some restrictions on the type of troops to which the conscript will be assigned;
- category "B". This category is issued to conscripts who can begin performing military duties, but have some restrictions and are exempt from certain types of military services;
- category “G” indicates temporary unfitness due to health reasons. In this case, the conscript is given a health deferment from the army for a period of up to 1 year. During this period, the young man is able to improve his health and after a year again receive a summons from the military registration and enlistment office;
- category “D” is confirmation that the young man cannot perform military service and is completely unsuitable for it.
What diseases determine the unsuitability of a conscript?
The above categories of disease indicate the young man’s complete or partial unsuitability for military service. In this case, the conscript is given a deferment from the army due to health reasons. He receives category "G". In case of complete unsuitability, he is given category “D”
Conditions for obtaining categories “G” and “D”
These categories are issued subject to the following conditions:
- the certificate provided or the diagnosis of the disease is included in the list of the above types of diseases;
- the disease is documented in a medical institution and by the medical commission of the military registration and enlistment office;
- the young man should not have a deferment from military service for any other reasons. This may be a deferment due to studies or family reasons.
The medical commission very carefully studies the medical history of each conscript. It is best to provide certificates about an existing illness from a public rather than a private clinic.
Who carries out the vision test and makes a verdict?
As before, a special medical commission checks the health of conscripts. And it is she who, after receiving the results, has the right to decide whether the young man is suitable for military service due to health reasons.
It is worth noting that the medical commission begins its work twice a year:
- in the first spring month - for spring conscription;
- in the first autumn month - for autumn.
In order to prepare all the necessary documents in a timely manner, young men must begin this process from the beginning of winter for spring conscription, and from the beginning of summer for autumn conscription.
The final decision for conscripts with poor eyesight is made by a highly specialized specialist - an ophthalmologist, who decides whether the conscript can serve as a conscript or contract in the army.
Types of categories and their descriptions
- Suitability category "A". When all the medical indicators of a young man are normal, by decision of the draft commission he is assigned this category. This category includes 4 categories of purpose. Taking into account the anthropometric data of the young man, he is classified as one of the military branches.
- Suitability category "B". The young man whom the medical commission has assigned to this group can perform combat service. However, the presence of deviations in health status imposes a ban on service in certain law enforcement agencies. The destination indicator gives detailed information about this.
- Suitability category "B". A citizen who has received such an entry in his military ID is considered exempt from military service. However, he is still registered with the military, since he is included in the reserve list. The young man becomes the owner of a ticket indicating the reserve category, military specialty and the “Schedule of Diseases” article, with the help of which the type of disease was established (this mark was placed until 2005).
- Suitability category "G". This category cannot be seen on a military ID for persons to whom it was issued more than 1 year ago. It is considered temporary because it implies a delay. In this case, the young man is given a certain time for treatment and rehabilitation. At the next medical examination, the deferment may be extended, but the category will change.
- Suitability category "D". Diseases that occur in severe forms become a compelling reason for a complete ban on military service. A citizen who has this category is removed from military registration and is not subject to subsequent re-examination.
B4 fitness category for which troops 2020
Govorukhin even called the year of military service in the army an anecdote. Also, by presidential decree, the age limit for professional military service was extended. In general, age restrictions have been increased by 5 years: Conscription into the army is a set of events and procedures that include the following actions:
- Attendance for medical examination and examination;
- Attendance at the meeting of the draft commission;
- Appear at the place and time specified in the summons for further dispatch to the place of the soldier’s military service.
Must enroll in military service in the army: On the territory of the Russian Federation, the following grounds apply for exemption from military conscription if:
- the medical commission declared the citizen unfit (or fit with restrictions) for service due to health reasons;
- the citizen has already completed military service in the Russian Federation;
- the citizen has already completed alternative civilian service in the Russian Federation (at a university with a military department).
A citizen of the Russian Federation has every right to take advantage of the opportunity not to undergo compulsory military service in the army if:
The number “4” is an indicator of predestination for military service. It shows exactly which branches and types of troops and to what position the draft commission will send the conscript. For citizens with category B4, these will be the following troops and positions: Military communications units, radio engineering units - requirements:
- Corrected visual acuity – 0.5/0.1 (Ophthalmologist)
- Whispering speech – 5:5 (Otorhinolaryngologist)
Special facilities, security and defense specialists for combat missile systems - requirements:
- Visual acuity without correction – 0.5/0.1 (Ophthalmologist)
- Whispering speech – 5:5 (Otorhinolaryngologist)
- No color weakness grade 3 or 2 (Ophthalmologist)
- Absence of dichromasia (Ophthalmologist)
- Height – no higher than 180 cm (Surgeon)
Decoding the meaning of category “B”
The description of the category sounds simple and clear: “Limitedly fit for military service.” The young man who receives it is exempt from military service in peacetime and is added to the reserve list due to health problems.
An important difference between category “B” and “D” is that the latter makes it possible to avoid military service under any circumstances, while a citizen who has the first will be mobilized if martial law arises.
It happens that conscripts are assigned strange categories with the addition of numerical values (“B1”, “B2” and others). Such degrees of suitability simply do not exist. Therefore, a young man who received such an entry on his military ID can appeal the actions of the medical board as unlawful.
Suitability category B4
With the “B4” category, young men are sent to the army, who can serve as specialists in the security and defense of combat missile systems. Service in these units does not involve such heavy loads that can be found in the airborne troops or in air assault battalions. In addition, if a conscript receives a “B4” fitness category, he can go to serve in military communications units that do not impose too high demands on the health of military personnel. During service in such units, a recruit can become a communications specialist who understands the various technical means used to communicate between military units.
Reasons for changing the assigned category
This question is often of interest to those who experience problems when trying to get a job. Category “B” can be changed to “B” and even to “A” if the citizen feels much better or has completely cured his disease.
To undergo re-examination and change the current category, you need to fill out an application addressed to the military registration and enlistment office, in which the citizen asks to re-pass the medical examination due to improved health. In addition, it is necessary to collect in advance documents that officially confirm the success of the treatment, namely:
- extracts;
- pictures;
- results of recent tests.
Members of the medical commission of the military registration and enlistment office must fully examine the citizen and make an appropriate decision. They can leave his suitability category unchanged or assign another one.
Even after changing the current category, a person cannot be called up for military service again! He is still on the reserve list and can only be called upon to serve if martial law is introduced in the country.
What does fitness category “B” mean on a military ID?
In some cases, to confirm doctors’ suspicions about the presence of a certain pathology in a conscript, he may be sent to undergo an in-depth examination within a clinical hospital. Only after receiving the final results of diagnosing the young person’s health condition, members of the medical commission make a decision on assigning a fitness category. If the conscript does not agree with the final verdict of the medical board, then he can appeal it in court. It is worth noting the fact that when a trial begins to challenge the results of a medical examination at the military registration and enlistment office, the guy cannot be sent to the army exactly until the court decision is made.
These branches of the military enlist guys who have good physical training in the absence of serious pathologies and diseases. More detailed information can be found in the document “Schedule of Diseases”, which is used by members of the medical commission of the military registration and enlistment office in the process of determining the category of suitability.
Grounds for assigning category “B”
In order for this particular category of fitness to be included in a conscript’s ticket, he must provide official medical documents confirming the presence of dangerous diseases.
Sometimes signs of a serious illness are discovered directly during a medical examination at the military registration and enlistment office. In this case, the young man is given a referral where he undergoes a full examination to determine an accurate diagnosis.
If the conscript has already been diagnosed and is aware of his disease, then he can independently collect and provide the commission with the necessary documentation as evidence. He will need to prepare the following types of documents in advance:
- extracts;
- certificates;
- results of tests completed;
- pictures.
