For example, pierce the filter housing with a long screwdriver, and then, using it as a lever, unscrew the oil filter.
Unscrew the oil filter - We fill the new filter halfway with lubricating fluid so that it saturates the filter element inside. Lubricate the O-ring on the oil filter with a small amount of fresh oil.
- Use a clean rag to wipe the filter seat and tighten it by hand without any tools.
- At the next stage, fresh lubricant is poured through the filler neck.
- After filling in the liquid, screw the cap onto the filler neck.
- Next, the engine should idle for about 10 minutes.
- After turning off the engine, you need to check the oil level. It is controlled using a feeler gauge and should be above the minimum mark and below the maximum.
At this stage, the lubricant change in the VAZ 2106 ends. All that remains is to check for leaks under the drain plug and oil filter; if there are any, then the plug and filter should be tightened.
How to change the oil in a VAZ 2106 engine
The VAZ 2106 oil should be changed every 4–5 thousand kilometers if the lubricant is mineral. If it is semi-synthetic, you can replace it after 7–8 thousand, but no more.

- The hood opens and the filler neck located at the top of the engine is unscrewed.
- Below, on the engine oil pan, the surface around the drain plug is cleaned. To do this, use a brush and rags.
- A drain container is placed under the plug, then the plug is carefully unscrewed using a hexagon. It is not advisable to drop it into a container with waste. Also, you need to be careful - the oil is very hot.
- You need to wait 15–20 minutes until the lubricant drains completely. Then clean the plug and screw it back into the bottom.
- A drain container is placed under the filter element. The filter can be unscrewed with a puller or a screwdriver if the housing is pierced.
- In the new oil filter, the rubber gasket is lubricated, and lubricant is poured into it up to half the volume. The new filter is screwed into place by hand.
- A funnel is inserted into the filler neck. You will have to pour 3.5–3.7 liters of oil into the engine. Periodically you need to check the level with a dipstick.
- The filler neck is closed and the engine is started.
It is necessary for the engine to idle for several minutes. After this, you need to wait 10–15 minutes and check if the liquid is leaking in the area of the drain and filter. Then measure the level again. If necessary, add oil.
