Audi A6 allroad 2019-2020 - a new generation of all-terrain station wagon

Exterior

Fortunately, this time the designers did a good job and such incidents will not happen when the regular version of the Audi A6 Avant is confused with the allroad. However, this caused confusion for some owners of these cars. The “charged” version of the station wagon has a more aggressive look and expressive shape.

The Audi A6 allroad 2021 now has a protective plastic body kit along the entire contour of the lower part of the car. It will be available in two versions - black, unpainted plastic and in body color (of course, for an additional fee). By the way, if you take the painted version, the paintwork will be the same as that of the body itself. So in the future you will still have to repair these body parts. It’s easier to immediately roll them up in armored film or cover them with a tinted “Raptor” type coating.

At the front of the station wagon, the radiator grille was migrated, and not from anywhere, but from the off-road models in the company’s lineup. It is easily recognizable due to its vertical connections. Already in the base, roof rails are installed on the roof of the car.

Features of the exterior and interior of the Audi A6 Allroad Quattro

The Audi A6 Allroad Quattro has two levels of ground clearance and height, since this station wagon is equipped with an air suspension with the ability to change ground clearance, which also affects the height of the car itself. The mass has a double indicator due to the available two power plants to choose from, which also affect this indicator.

The all-wheel drive Allroad version is distinguished from the regular A6 Avant station wagon by several features that the Avant does not have. The off-road version boasts a special radiator grille with vertical stripes coated with chrome. The shape and position of the headlights have not changed, but the lighting equipment in them has changed.

Interior

Apparently, the designers ran out of energy on the appearance, since 90% of all drivers will say that the Avant and allroad versions have an identical interior. On the one hand, this is good, more spare parts, more analogues. On the other hand, you overpay for nothing. Yes, of course, the allroad will have fatter trim levels and you will even find a leather-fabric interior, an electronic dashboard with a 12.3-inch monitor, but still.

Interestingly, in the TOP trim levels there will be as many as 2 multimedia displays on the dashboard, in addition to the dashboard. This is a 10.1-inch touch screen for the MMI Plus multimedia system (which will have all modern applications from Android and Apple, as well as support for SIM cards with 4g and LTE technology, Wi-Fi) and a separate 8.6-inch touch screen screen for controlling the climate system and all kinds of interior options. The audio system is also “at the level” - it’s Bang and Olufsen 19.1 - the standard subwoofer, as usual, is located in a special niche in the luggage compartment.

Specifications

The new Audi A6 allroad 2019-2020 model year will receive the following overall characteristics:

Length – 4,951 m, Width – 1,902 m (2.11 m with folded side mirrors), Height – 1,542 m, Wheelbase – 2,925 m, Front track (tyres 225/55 R18) – 1,645 m, Rear track (tires 225/55 R18) – 1,611 m. Luggage compartment volume – 565/1680 liters.

At the start of sales, the Audi A6 allroad will receive only 3.0-liter V6 turbo-diesel TDI, and a year later we are promised the appearance of gasoline engines. The car will be complemented by a technologically advanced Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) system, which is a combination of a belt starter-generator and a Li-on battery. Now, the car will be available exclusively with an 8-speed tiptronic automatic transmission.

Engines proposed for the new version of the Audi A6 allroad 2019:

Audi A6 allroad Quattro 45 TDI – 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel TDI with 231 hp. and 500 Nm of torque: acceleration to 100 km/h – 6.7 seconds, fuel consumption in mixed mode – 5.9 liters per 100 km;

Audi A6 allroad Quattro 50 TDI – 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel TDI with 286 hp. and 620 Nm of torque: acceleration to 100 km/h – 5.9 seconds, fuel consumption in mixed mode – 6.0 liters per 100 km;

Audi A6 allroad Quattro 55 TDI – 3.0 liter V6 turbodiesel TDI with 349 hp. and 700 Nm of torque: acceleration to 100 km/h – 5.2 seconds, fuel consumption in mixed mode – 6.3 liters per 100 km.

It’s interesting that, in fact, the Audi A6 allroad will have the same engine as the Audi S6 (we’re talking about the Quattro 55 TDI - power (349 hp) and torque (700 Nm) are identical.

The characteristics are not bad at all - the displacement engines do their job. But don’t forget that this is a station wagon, with all that it implies. That is, it can and will be more powerful (by engine power comparison standards) than the new Audi A3 2021 sportback, but it will be much more difficult for it to pass the Audi A4 2020.

The car will receive the latest adaptive air suspension! It will choose the operating mode itself depending on the current speed and type of road surface. Thus, the ground clearance can be increased to a maximum of 45 millimeters, when in standard mode it is 139 millimeters.

In Auto and Comfort mode, the default ground clearance is 139 mm, which changes depending on the current speed. Up to 35 km/h – ground clearance in the highest position will be 184 mm (+45 mm). As the speed increases, the suspension will lower itself. At a speed of about 120 km/h, the ground clearance will be lower by 15 mm - it will already be 124 mm. In Offroad mode, the car maintains high ground clearance (+30 mm) at speeds up to 80 km/h

Reviews

Valentin (Altai Territory), Audi A6 Allroad Quattro (2002, TDI 2.5, automatic transmission)
I consider the car ideal for Russian regions, since it feels good both on asphalt and on country roads. I calmly arrived by car where SUVs drive. Of course, in cross-country ability it will be inferior to a frame SUV, but if you are not in the taiga, then there is no difference between them.

Among the minuses, I note the high demand for diesel fuel and some “tenderness” of the air suspension. By the time the vehicle reached 50 thousand kilometers, the air bags began to burst. I had to replace it. Otherwise, there are no problems with the Audi Allroad.

Peter (Moscow region), Audi A6 allroad quattro (2004, 4.2 FSI, automatic transmission)

The car just flies along the highway, the traction is crazy. In winter, I drove through any snow-covered yards, as well as ditches, mud, etc. To do this, I simply raised the body to the top position using the air suspension.

I was also pleased with the spacious interior. The quality of finishing and sound insulation is excellent. Even with such large wheel arches, the sound from the wheels is not audible in the cabin. I installed Recaro seats, which are very ergonomic.

The disadvantages include expensive maintenance and high fuel consumption. In the city, gasoline consumption reached 18-20 liters per 100 kilometers. The engine eats quite a lot of oil (about 800 ml per thousand kilometers). I drove about 150 thousand on the car. During this time, I replaced the ignition coils, air springs, and CV joints. As well as periodic replacement of brake discs and pads, oil and other consumables.

Nikolay (Murmansk), Audi A6 allroad quattro (2003, 2.7 liters, 250 hp, automatic transmission)

I was very pleased with the powerful 250 horsepower engine. I consider the second significant advantage to be the air suspension, which can hold the body in 4 different positions. For Russian operating conditions this is a big plus. The car easily climbs curbs and overcomes moderate uneven terrain. I would also like to note the excellent sound insulation of the cabin.

During its operation (about 120 thousand mileage) I changed the air springs, timing drive, and also repaired the automatic transmission.

In conclusion, it only remains to add that the Audi A6 Allroad Quattro is not very popular on the Russian automobile market. There are only a few on the roads, but several hundred people buy this model every year. Basically, buyers purchase a full-fledged Q7 crossover or other models, if we are talking not only about the Audi brand. Although such oblivion is completely unfair in relation to the Audi Allroad car.

Options and prices

Audi has not yet officially presented all the available configurations for the new A6 allroad Quattro, however, we know that the configuration for the basic version with a 231-horsepower Audi A6 allroad Quattro 45 TDI engine will cost from 3.85 million rubles.

Exterior of the A6 Allroad

The first generation of the model in question is characterized by a reduction gearbox, which is an option. The car initially had a fairly high cost. So the price of a model at the beginning of 2010 in Germany with a diesel engine was 51,300 euros, with a gasoline engine 54,600 euros. The car is a five-seat all-wheel drive station wagon. The history of this car begins in 2000, and in 2006 the second generation of the Audi A6 Allroad Quattro was introduced. The differences from Avant are quite noticeable. It’s worth at least mentioning the more inflated sills, as well as plastic body kits and lower parts of the bumpers, on which stainless steel linings look very attractive. What is not so striking is the length of the wheelbase and overall dimensions.

If we talk about the third generation of the Audi A6 Allroad, it has a length of 4.94 m, a width of 1.9 m and a height of 1.47 m. The dimensions, although not much increased, are still large when compared with the previous version. It is worth noting that even in the basic equipment, the allroad has an air suspension that allows you to change the ground clearance from 15 to 35 mm. The luggage compartment volume is also considerable - 565 liters. If you feel a lack of free space in the trunk, then by folding the rear seats, it can be increased to 1680 liters.
