Description
The V4U and V4Y engines are created by Nissan engine builders. In Japan they are known under the indexes VQ25DE and VQ35DE.
The V4Y engine is more modern. This is a 3.5 liter V-shaped six-cylinder petrol unit with a capacity of 215-305 hp. s and torque 315-375 Nm. Created in 2000. Produced at the concern's factories in Iwaki (Japan) and Decherd (USA).

From 2000 to the present, the engine has been installed on many Infiniti models (QX4 R50, I35 A33, FX35 S50, QX60 L50 and M35 Y50), as well as Samsung SM7 EX2 and SM7 L47 (2004-2019).
The motor is made according to a classic design, but has some innovative solutions. The cylinder block (as well as the cylinder head) are made of aluminum alloy. Timing chain drive. The intake manifold is nylon.

The crankshaft and connecting rods are forged. The pistons are coated with molybdenum. Additional processing of the friction surfaces of the CPG (grinding to a mirror finish) significantly reduces the coefficient of friction.
From 2005 to 2006, a special forced version of the engine (VQ35DE Up) was produced. Thanks to modifications, the power of the unit has been increased to 305 hp. With. However, no changes were made to the mechanical part.
The V4U engine was essentially the predecessor of the V4Y. It was developed and put into production in 1994. Had less power and torque (see table 1). After 10 years of production, it was modernized, as a result of which the technical characteristics changed upward.
