During the long life of the Niva, many interesting and not so interesting modifications were born on its basis. Most of them quickly became history, but there were also very successful models that gained popularity. In this list, the five-door Niva is in first place.

The question of increasing living space has been around for a long time. After all, the original Niva could not boast of a spacious interior or a spacious trunk. In 1994, a very strange model was born - the VAZ-2129. It was an extended modification, but still a three-door. At the same time, an absurd window appeared in the area of ​​the central pillar of the body. A year later, another long-wheelbase Niva came out, this time with five doors. And, unlike the VAZ-2129, this version, which received the index 2131, turned out to be much more popular. On the main assembly line, where the classic Niva was produced, the large car did not fit. Therefore, she was assigned a place in Pilot Industrial Production (EPP). The solution is temporary, since a replacement was expected to appear in the near future - the second generation of the Niva, which was originally a five-door. But, as we know, this process took a long time. And the VAZ-2131 was registered within the walls of the OPP for a long time. And the production of the temporary model is still ongoing.
