The Nissan Beetle 2021 for Russia is not assembled in the country, and all cars are supplied only from abroad. On the one hand, this can be called an advantage - trust in Nissan trim levels produced in the Russian Federation is usually less compared to cars assembled in Japan or Europe. Although the presence of several factories makes us think about the origin of the models that can be found in domestic car dealerships. And this question arises among many potential crossover buyers who want to get maximum quality for their money.

General information on Nissan cars

Before buying a new car of this brand, almost any person asks a fair question: “Where is Nissan produced for Russia?”

But indeed, buying a car for our consumer is a very significant step, which requires careful preparation and collection of all information. First of all, you should know that there are only 8 factories manufacturing Nissan equipment in the whole world, and 2 of them are located in Russia. But first things first.

  • Nissan factory, Spain.
  • The plant is located in the UK, more precisely in the city of Sunderland.

Production process

Let's start with the fact that the car manufacturer built it on the Nissan V platform; it was developed specifically for this vehicle. The British plant is equipped with the latest modern equipment, thanks to which reliable and comfortable cars roll off the assembly line. The very first stage of production of the Nissan Beetle is body welding. After this is completed, the structure is sent to specialists, where they check the quality of the work performed. If everything is fine and there are no defects, the car is sent to the paint shop.

When the car is painted and dried for ten hours, it is sent to the conveyor line, where the assembly of the chassis begins. Now you know not only where Nissan Juke is produced, but also how it happens. As soon as the chassis is assembled, we begin to work on the interior of the crossover. After a full production cycle, each car is sent for testing. If specialists find no scratches, gaps or other defects, the crossover is sent for testing. If a defect is detected, the car is sent for revision. After all checks and tests, the machines are exported and delivered to the end consumer. In this connection, the prices for this crossover in Russia are quite high.

Assembly for the global market

The concern's production facilities are located in several countries - the total number of factories reaches 20. The cars assembled at them are sent to Russia, Europe, and North America, and a certain percentage of vehicles are assembled only for the domestic Japanese market. However, since 2010, the Juke model continues to be produced at only two factories - in the city of Oppama (Japan) and in Sunderland (UK). At each of these plants, thousands of copies of this popular crossover are assembled every year.

The manufacturer checks the build quality of all cars with the help of technical control departments - regardless of where the enterprise is located. As practice shows, it is best to buy crossovers that are assembled in Japan. However, domestic buyers are more interested in Sunderland, where they produce this car for the Russian market.

Is the armor strong?

We officially sold the English-assembled Juke. Although this did not prevent corrosion from appearing on its body. It is mainly the rear pillars that suffer, which the owners “armor” with a protective film, and at the same time coat the body seams with anti-corrosion. Over time, paint may bubble on the tailgate, hood, and front fenders. You can’t expect any particular durability from the paintwork either. Therefore, chips and scratches quickly appear on the body, which, however, are in no hurry to become covered with rust.

A charged version of the subcompact crossover appeared in 2011. In our market, the Juke Nismo was sold exclusively with an all-wheel drive transmission and a sports independent suspension with a slightly reduced ground clearance. Under the hood, a 1.6-liter turbo engine with a power of 200 horsepower took root, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or CVT.

The windshield wears out quite quickly and can also crack from a small chip. In cold weather, headlights and side mirror glass break. Replacing the amalgam of the mirror element will cost from 3,000 rubles. Bumpers sag due to weak mounting pins.

The salon is not so shocking. The plastic finishing is inexpensive, but the design of the front panel is quite nice. Although the hard plastic quickly becomes scratched, the steering wheel braid is wiped out. Little things, but unpleasant...

Among the unusual solutions in the interior of the Nissan Juke, we can note the original floor tunnel and the very stylish design of the door trim.

The protective transparent plastic that protects the instrument panel quickly becomes chipped, rubbed, and becomes cloudy.

The armrests on the doors are decorated with thick fabric, which becomes greasy after 2-3 years of use.

The front seats with developed lateral support are quite comfortable. True, with age, their fabric upholstery wears out unacceptably quickly.

Nissan Beetle for Russian buyers

The automaker's enterprise, where Nissan Juke is produced for Russia, is located in one of the northern English counties, almost on the border with Scotland. The new crossover began to be assembled here relatively recently - several years later than at the main plant. But the build quality of the Bug has almost caught up with the Japanese one - although there are still certain shortcomings.

The process of creating a car at a local plant occurs in several stages:

  • In the welding shop, a frame is made, which is checked for defects and welding quality;
  • The structure is sent first for painting, then for drying - processes that take about 12 hours;
  • If there were no defects at the previous stages, the car is assembled on an assembly line. The engine, transmission, electronics are installed on it, and the interior is configured.

Upon completion of all stages, the crossover is sent for export. From Sunderland it is supplied not only to Russian car dealerships, but also to a number of European countries. And, although not all buyers are satisfied with the English assembly, it is considered more profitable than deliveries from Japan - the distances to both Europe and most of Russia are much shorter.

Reliability, shortcomings and repair cost of Nissan Juke

Transmission

A 5-speed manual was combined with naturally aspirated engines, and a 6-speed manual was combined with a turbo engine. Both of them are a priori reliable, but the CVT is not without problems. But the 190-horsepower “four” was combined with a reinforced version of the CVT, which turned out to be noticeably more reliable. The all-wheel drive system doesn't disappoint either. Although, when slipping for a long time, the clutch overheats.

Engine

The stretchable timing chain on the turbo engine was replaced in 2013 with a reinforced one. Therefore, the problems with it have practically disappeared. And on the aspirated, the modernized part began to be installed after restyling. The chain has become noticeably more durable, although not so much that this problem can be forgotten - now it is guaranteed to withstand 150,000 km.

A used Juke is a great choice, as long as it comes with a manual transmission.

Suspension

The weak point in the chassis is the support bearings of the struts, which are poorly protected from dirt (RUB 1,800 each). Already by 20,000-30,000 km, a grinding noise coming from the depths of the front suspension will herald their failure. The remaining elements of the chassis last up to hundreds of thousands of kilometers and longer. With the exception of the stabilizer struts and bushings, which wear out at 50,000-80,000 km.

Body

The Djuka's paintwork is rather flimsy, and the bodywork itself is very thin. Therefore, chips and scratches quickly appear on the body of the car, which, however, are in no hurry to become covered with rusty spots and stains. The first to corrode are the rear pillars and the fifth door. The owners “reserve” these places with a special film.

Electrics

If the electric booster suddenly fails, do not rush to call a tow truck.
Usually it is enough to replace the battery. It is better if it is more powerful - the capacity of the standard battery is not enough, especially when used in the cold season. Build quality

It would seem that if the crossover was assembled in Britain, that is, abroad, and not in the Russian Federation, then there should be no complaints about the quality. But this is not in our case. Russian owners of Nissan Beetles complain about poor sound insulation. Probably, during production, British engineers did not take into account the condition of our roads. Crossover owners do not receive the necessary driving comfort. Because the sounds of a car hitting the asphalt echo in the cabin. To operate the machine in Russian conditions, sound insulation must be at the highest level.

The manufacturer also saved on the quality of finishing materials. The interior parts are made of low-quality, hard, easily scratched plastic. Of course, what else can you expect from a budget crossover, this is a fact, but not entirely pleasant. Where they produce the Nissan Beetle probably didn’t take this point into account. In addition to the fact that the driver is annoyed by the creaking of cheap plastic in the cabin, the car sometimes also “sings along” to the beat. Car owners complain about “crickets”; they annoy and distract crossover owners. But, if this model had been assembled in Russia, there is no guarantee that the quality would have been better. Despite the listed disadvantages of the “Japanese”, the demand for the Nissan Beetle is not decreasing, but even, on the contrary. More and more people want to become owners of this unique Japanese creation.

Differences from the Japanese assembly

As reviews from domestic buyers of the Beetle model show, those options that are assembled at English production facilities differ slightly for the worse. And, although this crossover is more attractive in appearance than the Japanese version and the interior trim is more pleasant to the touch, drivers note the following disadvantages:

  • poor sound insulation;
  • paint peeling off in some places on the body;
  • hard and creaky cheap plastic.

People inside the car note a constant squeaking sound - especially if you accelerate to 70–80 km/h. Although this speed cannot be called high enough for trips outside the city. In the city, when such a “SUV” rarely reaches even 50–60 km/h, squeaks and “crickets” are not so noticeable. But their very presence makes many car enthusiasts skeptical about the products of the plant in Sunderland, where the Nissan Beetle is assembled for the domestic market.

At the same time, it cannot be said that if another country had been chosen for assembly, the quality would have been better. So, for example, if the Juke had been produced in Russia, there could have been even more defects. Although even the presence of certain shortcomings does not reduce the demand for this crossover, whose popularity is much higher among Russian youth than among middle-aged family motorists.

CVT at risk

There are no complaints about the manual 5- and 6-speed gearboxes. But the variator was plagued with problems. Moreover, the Jatco JF011E variator was combined with the 117-horsepower engine, and its reinforced version was combined with the turbocharged one. The base unit sometimes fell apart at 25,000 km. And the general statistics are that by 150,000 km the push belt wears out (from 35,000 rubles). It is changed together with cone pulleys and a stepper motor. The reinforced version of the variator is more durable, and the cost of repairing it is no more expensive than the basic CVT.

On the market you can find an option with a two-tone interior trim. Remember that door seals lose their effectiveness after 6-7 years of use.

Among on-board electrics, the most complaints come from the multimedia system, which is notorious for its “glitches.”

In the finishing of expensive versions of the Juka, so-called ecological leather is used, which is not resistant to wear.

The Juka's trunk barely fits the contents of its owner's purse. However, the volume can be increased by folding the seats.
