Revolver-buckle

The exact opposite of the previous point. A gadget designed not to hide weapons, but, on the contrary, to proudly display them to everyone they meet.

The American Armory produces such a buckle for its compact 22-caliber revolvers. If you don’t want to carry a gun in a holster or pocket, you can literally carry it on your belly. One press of the button on the buckle and the revolver falls into your palm.

True, the revolvers themselves, although more suitable for combat than the Nazi handicraft, are in fact not particularly formidable weapons. There are only five charges, the hammer must be cocked manually before each shot, and the short barrel makes aimed shooting at a distance of more than a few meters ineffective. Like all the other guns in our selection, it’s better to show them off to your friends than to try to use them for real self-defense.

The smallest pistol

Well, okay, maybe not the smallest at all, but certainly the smallest self-loading one that was mass-produced, it was produced in the amount of about a thousand copies. Called "Kolibri", designed by an Austrian gunsmith named Franz Pfannl, it was produced from 1910 until the start of the First World War. Then Austria-Hungary had no time for souvenirs.

Structurally, the “Hummingbird” was no different from other pocket self-loading pistols of that time - a magazine in the handle, a blowback bolt, a safety on the side. The salt was fine. This little thing fired with proper miniature cartridges. They had a caliber of 2.7 mm and are still the smallest centerfire cartridges in the world. A bullet weighing 0.2 grams left the barrel at a speed of about 200 m/s and was inferior in kinetic energy even to a bullet from an air pistol. It is clear that there is no need to talk about any self-defense in such conditions - experts talk in a vague way that, perhaps, it was possible to scare off a not very annoying stray dog with a hit from the Hummingbird.

Nevertheless, these farts sold like hot cakes, because they made a very cool souvenir. It is designed like a real “adult” pistol, but at the same time several times smaller - pure delight! Only it was very inconvenient to load tiny cartridges into the magazine.

Revolver-ring

A gun to wear on your finger, can you imagine? The device is extremely simple: the drum is rotated manually, the trigger located on the side of it is also cocked manually. To reload, the drum must be removed entirely. It is found in several versions, differing in caliber - from five to two (!) millimeters - and the number of charges (from five to seven). They are most often called "Le Petit Protector" ("The Little Protector"), and the 2mm versions are also known as "Femme Fatale" ("Femme Fatale").

Alas, in reality, these rings are unlikely to be able to play a fatal role - lethal force, so to speak, is somewhere around zero. The best way to use them is to show off a cool trifle to your friends. This is obviously what they were created for.

By the way, the antiquity of such gizmos is questionable: in the weapons catalogs of the first half of the last century there is not a single mention of them, and almost all the specimens found are in very good condition. It has still not been possible to find accurate information about the manufacturer... Such is the mystery of history.

Features and Pros

0
The Federle brothers initially positioned their weapon as a compact automatic carbine. Accordingly, a layout similar to a machine gun was chosen. The magazine is deliberately moved a little forward, towards the trigger guard, and the weight is slightly higher than the usual revolvers and automatic pistols of that time. The undoubted advantages of such a solution include both accuracy and combat range. And the power of the 7.63 caliber cartridge, coupled with the ability to fire in bursts, played a significant role in combat conditions.

Shooting pen

An indispensable attribute of any self-respecting spy is a pistol disguised as a fountain pen. But thanks to the American gunsmith Bob Braverman, anyone can buy one, of course, if the country’s legislation allows it.

Braverman patented a pen-shaped pistol called the Stinger in 1990. It was produced by various companies from 1991 to 2004. There are more than a thousand copies produced.

Before firing, the body of the “handle” must be broken - at the same time, the firing pin is cocked and the trigger is pulled out. It turns out something like a “pistol” from a crooked stick that children play with. Unfortunately, this cannot be done quickly, so the effect of surprise needed by a real spy is lost. In addition, the handle contains only one cartridge, and to reload it you need to unscrew it, which can only be done in a quiet environment.

“The Sting,” despite its disadvantages (or maybe because of them), has quite a lot of fans. What kind of tricks they do with the poor handle: they attach mufflers, additional handles, even optical sights to it; lengthen the trunk to almost the size of a cane and much more. You can Google it yourself.

If anyone knows any other remarkable examples of interesting but useless firearms, please share them in the comments. Just don’t offer fancy shushpangevers, developed under government orders at great expense. They are of great benefit - at least to the pockets of the creators for sure.

Development and release

This handsome man was invented by the Federle brothers - Joseph, Friedrich and Fidel worked for, so the patent was legally received by the employer of the brilliant masters, Paul Mauser. The first pistols were released in 1896, and a year later they went into mass production. Until 1939, German factories alone produced more than a million C96 models: the machine found favor in almost every army of that time.

Efficiency and reliability

0
The product of the Federle brothers was an innovative breakthrough of that time. First of all, the Mauser was valued for its extreme efficiency: compact, convenient, and rapid-fire. His wooden holster was fastened and turned into a butt (our Stechkin would later offer the same system). The rate of fire of a Mauser with an attached butt reached 900 rounds per minute - in fact, one well-trained fighter with a Mauser in his hands could stop an entire enemy squad in a narrow alley.

Air gun Gletcher SS 2202 plastic 4.5 mm

Gletcher SS 2202 is a model of an air pistol from America, which is available in two variations. This one has a plastic bolt, and it is cheaper than a pistol with a metal bolt, and, accordingly, lighter. The external qualities of the pistol do not have any remarkable features. “A pistol is like a pistol,” say our domestic shooters. But the fact that they are talking about this pneumatic already means a lot. There are a lot of weapon models that don’t receive even the slightest bit of attention from our spoiled shooting enthusiasts. There is now an abundance of goods on the consumer market, full of all sorts of pistols from different countries, but before, if it was pneumatics, it was Izhevsk. The Gletcher SS 2202 is a somewhat crude pistol. More precisely, it is not he himself who is rude, but only his form. But the angularity gives this pneumatic a special recognizable style, whatever one may say. Regarding the basic weapon qualities, the pistol can be called high-quality. The firing speed is one hundred and twenty, the magazine capacity is twenty-one charges. This air pistol is ideal for those new to shooting. It is lightweight and easy to use. It charges extremely easily and quickly. Although most often these same beginners, when they read the description of pistols and see a mark like “good for beginners,” immediately move on to another model. They say, why not, a professional needs a pistol right away, what about that shooting - he loaded it and pulled the trigger. That’s true, but in order to become a skilled shooter you need training. And the Gletcher SS 2202 is an excellent training weapon that will help you quickly understand the intricacies of shooting. Potential buyers will also be pleased with the price of the pistol. “Democratic” - this word can describe it very accurately. If suddenly the owner of the Gletcher SS 2202 air pistol wants to improve it in any way, then the under-barrel base, designed just for such improvements, will be more useful than ever. With it you can attach a flashlight or a laser designator to the pistol.

The manufacturer may make changes to the contents, color, design and/or software of the product without prior notice to users.
