is a three-axle all-wheel drive off-road truck produced by the Kama Automobile Plant (KAMAZ). Chassis 43114 is widely used in the armed forces, oil and gas industry, incl. for installation of various superstructures (tank trucks, hydraulic lifts, vans, road trains, etc.). The cabin is high, three-seater, located above the engine, depending on the modification - with or without a sleeper.

    KamAZ 4326 is positioned as a multi-purpose vehicle.
    The truck is equipped with a 2-speed manual transfer case with a locking center differential and pneumatic control. The main transmission has 10 gears with remote mechanical control. The gearbox is equipped with a double-disc dry friction clutch with hydraulic drive. Despite its military specialty, the model is actively used for peaceful purposes. The metal cargo platform of the car has a tailgate, side tailgates, an awning and a frame. Folding benches are installed specifically for transporting people onto the platform. The rigid foot on the rear side makes it easier to get into the body.

    KamAZ 4326 is equipped with a traditional 3-seater cabover type cab with a hydraulic lift. Unlike typical civilian options, the cabin of this model seems ascetic. The driver's seat has many adjustments, but lacks air suspension. The creators of the KamAZ 4326 practically did not think about passengers, having screwed the seats to the cabin floor. The step and handrails make it easy to climb into the cabin, despite its high location. The cabin itself is located above the engine.

    One of the remnants that the model received from its predecessors was the engine brake switch. They have been talking about replacing it with an electric drive with a switching function on the panel or a retarder for a long time. However, KamAZ 4326 is still produced in the old version. At the same time, all foreign and domestic brands have already abandoned this button. Another “anachronism” was the windshield washer reservoir located in the cabin. The developers did not dare to take the element beyond its limits.

    It should be noted that these decisions do not significantly affect the operation of the car, and therefore have virtually no effect on its popularity.

    Owners speak mostly positively about the KamAZ 4326 vehicle. On the road she behaves very well. However, many questions remain for designers. In addition to the above problems, it is necessary to mention an outdated dashboard, an inconvenient accelerator pedal placement and an imperfect steering wheel adjustment system.

    All versions of KamAZ 4326 are equipped with interaxle and interwheel locking and an interwheel lockable differential. The model is considered one of the most unpretentious in maintenance. It is its simplicity compared to its competitors that makes it so popular.

    Cabin interior

    The Kama truck 4326 has a traditional three-seat cabover cab with a hydraulic lift. If we take a purely civilian variation of the car, then the cabin of 4326 looks a little ascetic. The driver's seat has a lot of adjustments, but there is no air suspension on it, which is sorely missing.

    The creators probably did not think about ensuring comfort for passengers, since they screwed the seats to the cabin floor. The footrest along with the handrails make it possible to get inside the cabin without much effort, despite the fact that it is located quite high.

    One of the shortcomings that the car acquired from the previous generation was the engine brake switch. There have been discussions for several years now about replacing it with an electric drive with a switching option on the panel or installing a retarder. But the model is still produced in the old version.

    Although, all foreign and even Russian brands have already renounced such a key. Interestingly, the windshield washer reservoir was built into the cabin. The developers did not want to install the part in the external part of the truck.

    When you open the door, it becomes possible to see almost the entire cabin, which is at human eye level. On the floor you can see the auxiliary button for the foot switch for the engine brake. There is a hatch at the top, and a berth behind the front seats.

    Device

    At the time of release (2004), KamAZ 63501 had no analogues in the world. Four drive axles, high load capacity and an 8 by 8 wheel arrangement ensured excellent cross-country ability and made the model unique.

    KamAZ 63501 was equipped with a 16-speed manual transmission ZF 16S 1820. Initially, the gearbox was imported from Europe (manufacturer: Zahnrad Fabrik). However, subsequently the production of these checkpoints was established in Naberezhnye Chelny. Currently, almost all modifications of KamAZ 63501 are equipped with gearboxes assembled by Russian manufacturers. Cast iron covers, gears, aluminum housings, clutch housings and other parts for transmissions are manufactured in Russia, while oil seals, synchronizers and bearings continue to be imported from Germany.

    The car uses a single-plate dry diaphragm-type clutch with a hydraulic drive and pneumatic booster. The KamAZ 63501 is equipped with a 2-speed transfer case KamAZ 65111 with a locking center differential. The differential is locked on the rear axles, the drive of the front axles is permanent and cannot be switched off.

    Cabin

    The cabin of the all-wheel drive four-axle vehicle from Naberezhnye Chelny does not differ from other models of the plant in any original properties: it is a standard KamAZ cabin - three-seater, all-metal, tilting forward. Along with other trucks, the KamAZ-63501 cab was also restyled. Currently, a modern cabin is installed on the four-axle vehicle, in which the contours of Mercedes trucks can be discerned.

    In fact, despite its German origin, only the first hundred cabins of the new model were delivered to Chelny from Europe assembled. Then they were imported in the form of six large preparations. From these, a frame was welded in special conductors specifically for this cabin. In recent years, the plant has launched an assembly line, where cabins are already completely manufactured from several hundred parts.

    At the painting stage, they introduced cataphoresis priming of the cabins (all of them, even the old ones that are manufactured for spare parts). The cabin is completely immersed in a bath in which electro-deposition of soil onto the steel occurs. Therefore, we can hope for a significant increase in the corrosion resistance of new cabins compared to old-style cabins.

    New cabins are available in three versions: No. 1 – day cabin (short and with a low ceiling); No. 2 – also with a low ceiling, but elongated – equipped with a berth 685 mm wide; No. 3 – elongated and with a high ceiling. It is clear that for KamAZ-63501 the third option is not relevant - this is not a long-haul tractor. But the second one is available: for an off-road truck, focused on working on the winter roads of the Far North, Siberia and the Far East, a cab with a sleeper is the right option.

    The external width of the new cabin is slightly wider than the previous one (2.5 m instead of 2.3 m). The height from floor to ceiling is 1.51 m. An adjustable steering column is installed, equipped with a pneumatic lock. The driver's seat (licensed "Grammer", made in neighboring Yelabuga by the joint venture TIS LLC) is installed on an air suspension.

    If the cabin has a sleeping place, then in the compartments under the lower shelf it is possible to place a significant number of things and belongings. There you can also equip a portable refrigerator. The KamAZ-63501 cab suspension is four-point, on spring struts. It is raised by a hydraulic lift, pumping the pump with an installation.

    Several innovations were applied to the model. For example, flashing turn signals appeared that were activated during an accident; and the headlights shone with asymmetrical beams, which were clearly visible in the dark and did not blind oncoming cars.

    The vehicle was built as a replacement for the ZIL-170 dump truck, has three axles and a 6x4 wheel arrangement. The KamAZ 5511 dump truck has excellent technical characteristics and stands out for its reliability, durability and versatility - it can be used in a variety of areas where heavy loads need to be transported.

    Purpose

    The equipment can transport cargo weighing up to 10 tons: building materials (including bulk materials), garbage, snow, soil, etc. The carrying capacity of the KamAZ 5511 makes it popular at construction sites, when developing territories and when performing agricultural work.

    The model has good cross-country ability, so it is used where other equipment cannot pass. Operation of the dump truck is possible in any weather and at any time of the year. Quick unloading of the body also contributes to the demand for the dump truck (it takes less than 20 seconds to lift it and return it to its original position).

    Purpose

    Relatively low price for a powerful all-wheel drive truck, low diesel fuel consumption, lightness, good cross-country ability and exceptional stability are the obvious advantages of trucks built on the KamAZ-43502 chassis. And at the same time – the secrets of their popularity in Russia and the CIS. This model is used both to staff the vehicle fleet of the Russian armed forces and in the civilian sector. In particular, shift buses of domestic oil and gas producing companies are often installed on the KamAZ-43502 chassis. These are SPTS - specialized cross-country passenger vehicles.

    The ambulance, equipped on a KamAZ-43502 chassis and designed to operate in extremely difficult climatic and road conditions, was successfully tested on the Kolyma highway in the winter of 2020, covering 1,370 km from Magadan to a number of settlements and back. In extreme conditions, the driving performance of the car, the performance of autonomous heating and lighting systems, including at night, and the durability of the body and electrical equipment in difficult climatic conditions were tested.

    The modern fire truck is built on a KamAZ-43502 all-wheel drive chassis. Its arsenal includes a tank for 3 thousand liters of water, a tank for 200 liters of foam, a pump with a capacity of up to 40 liters per second, a powerful compressor for supplying compressed air, an advanced fire extinguishing and smoke absorption system with Hiromax water mist, and space for a fire crew of seven people. Also, at the Army-2015 and Interpolitech-2015 exhibitions, the Patrol armored vehicle on the KamAZ-43502 chassis was presented.

    Purpose

    The KAMAZ-4310 entered the USSR Armed Forces and began to be used as a multi-purpose off-road truck for transporting goods and personnel. With KUNGs installed on the base of the vehicle, the vehicle is in service as mobile workshops, headquarters or medical centers. Quite often, the KAMAZ-4310 is used to organize the work of emergency departments and geological exploration expeditions. As an onboard truck, it is used to transport cargo for agricultural purposes, during construction, on hunting grounds and in various industries. Quite often you can find a KAMAZ-4310 with installed lifting equipment and a special trailer for loading and transporting wood in the logging industry. By order, some vehicle configurations were equipped with a driver’s sleeping place, which gave the driver the opportunity to rest when transporting goods over long distances. The vehicle is of military origin, so the design and all systems are designed for operation on bad roads, in any weather and in all climatic zones.
