Moreover, critical modes of operation of the unit should be avoided, the travel speed should not exceed 50 km/h, and movement with a load of more than 75% of the nominal load should be avoided until the end of the break-in period, which is limited to 1000 kilometers.

Diesel fuel conforming to GOST

  • To refuel your car, use only certified diesel fuel that complies with GOST 305-82.
  • Use transmission fluids, motor oil and antifreeze brands recommended by the Kama Automobile Plant.
  • The movement of KamAZ 53501 can be started only after the light and sound indication has stopped, warning about insufficient air pressure in the brake circuit.
  • It is prohibited to forcibly disconnect the battery while the engine is running.
  • Manipulations with the transfer case can be carried out after the engine shaft has completely stopped rotating.
  • If pressure and fluid level indicators are illuminated, immediately stop the car and find out the causes of the malfunction.

Machine structure

The volume of the power plant is 10.85 liters. It has eight cylinders, which are arranged in a V-shape. The design provides two tanks: 170 and 125 liters. Special versions offer two tanks of 210 liters each. This volume is enough for long trips without refueling. The fuel consumption of KamAZ-43114 is 36 liters per 100 km. Under certain conditions there are deviations from the average:

  • With an incomplete load, the consumption will be 30.5 l;
  • In winter, consumption is 31.2 l;
  • In summer, 34.3 liters are consumed.

The machine is equipped with a five-speed gearbox with mechanical and remote control. The gearbox has a central drive, the distribution number is 6.53. Safe movement at night is possible due to high-quality lighting devices. The headlights are securely fixed in the buffer; also, for other drivers to see the dimensions of the car, side lights are installed on the sides. If one of the lighting fixtures breaks down, the driver in the cabin receives a signal notifying him of this.

The body holds 18 cubic meters of cargo. The length of the platform is 4.8 meters and the width is 2.32 meters. The sides, which are 0.5 meters high, are made of high-strength steel and have the ability to recline.

The exhaust system has been completely redesigned by experienced engineers. Condensation cannot form inside the engine, and it will not get into the turbocharger pipe in any way. This result was achieved thanks to the special location of the exhaust pipe. The exhaust gases are directed in the opposite direction from the air entering the engine. This approach eliminated the possibility of contamination of the power unit.

KamAZ-5350: a universal all-terrain vehicle from the Mustang family

Factory designers received an order to develop a cargo all-terrain vehicle for army needs back in the mid-80s. However, due to the unstable economic situation, the first KamAZ-5350 vehicles were assembled only in 1992, and the truck was launched into mass production in 1995. The direct predecessor and basis for the creation of the KamAZ-43118 was the all-wheel drive KamAZ-4310, which was developed by the designers of the Likhachev Plant at the dawn of the foundation of the Kama Automobile Plant. Comprehensively modernized in 1989, KamAZ-4310 served as the basis for the new three-axle 6x6 model.

The beginning was made in 1992, when, by order of the government, KamAZ began developing a new model of a three-axle off-road truck for law enforcement agencies. In 2010, KamAZ-43118, following other models of the Kama Automobile Plant, was subject to restyling, which changed its configuration and appearance. The model began to be equipped with a new, much more modern cabin. KamAZ-43118 received a streamlined cast bumper, painted in the color of the cab, modified rear-view mirrors, integrated side fairings and a completely different radiator grille.

The changes also affected the optics of the car: headlights, direction indicators, and dimensions were combined into a single unit. The cockpit windshield became solid, rather than divided into two halves. The quality of interior finishing materials has noticeably improved. Due to design modifications, the service life of KamAZ-43118 vehicles was increased to 700 thousand km, and the interval between scheduled maintenance increased to 30 thousand km.
