Design Features

Model 2114 was built on the basis of the VAZ 2109, it is a restyled version. The hatchback received a new steering column, a modernized dashboard, an updated one and a half liter engine, redesigned for Euro 2 protocol. The VAZ 2114 shares the same wheelbase with the Nine, 2460 mm. The configuration of the bottom panel is the same for the models.

Are there any differences between 2114 and 2115

The VAZ 2115 model is considered a related model. The hatchback is built on the basis of the VAZ 21099 with various transport sizes and shares one wheelbase with the entire Lada Samara family. The standard dimensions of the bottom and sills for VAZ 2108, 2109, 21099, 2113, 2114, 2115 models are the same and interchangeable.

The bottom of the VAZ 2114 structurally consists of the following parts:

  • central reinforced panel;
  • driver's side panel;
  • side passenger;

The factory stock bottom is a one-piece stamped part, primed and painted black. The polyethylene coating acts as protection.

Performance characteristics of the VAZ 2115 car

The exhaust emission level of this model strictly meets domestic requirements and European environmental standards EURO-3 (Euro III), and the car’s reliable power units will never let its owner down on the road.

The VAZ-2115 is equipped with a five-speed gearbox combined with a differential and final drive.

The five-speed gearbox is designed on the basis of the four-speed gearbox previously installed on cars of the Sputnik family.

The main difference between the five-speed gearbox is the additionally introduced fifth gear, the gears of which are installed in an enlarged rear cover.

PS While driving, the gearbox does not cause any difficulties, the gears are engaged smoothly (except for fifth), without jerking the car, but at high speeds (over 120 km/h) when switching from fourth to fifth gear, difficulties arise, this can lead to a shift in attention from the road on the lever and there is a danger of losing control (trust my experience)

The main power supply circuits of the electrical equipment of the VAZ 2115 car are protected from damage by fuses. Their price is small, but their help and impact are significant. After all, they protect more expensive equipment.

Protection is realized using a fuse box assembled in the engine compartment. All powerful consumers, such as the starter, wipers and high beam lamps, are connected to the on-board network via a relay and are located in the mounting block.

The Pyatnashka is equipped with a starter type 5712.3708 - this is a DC electric motor with excitation from permanent magnets, with a planetary gearbox and an electromagnetic two-winding traction relay.

Four permanent magnets are fixed in the stator housing. The armature shaft rotates in two metal-ceramic liners installed in the cover and support. Rotation from the armature shaft is transmitted to the drive shaft through a planetary gearbox. Planetary gears rotate on needle bearings. The front end of the drive shaft rotates in a sintered bushing pressed into the clutch housing.

When the starter is turned on, the voltage from the battery through the ignition switch is supplied to both windings of the starter traction relay (retractor P1 and retainer P2). After closing the contacts of the traction relay, the retractor winding is turned off.

The Fifteenth model also has engines with a distributed fuel injection system, i.e. fuel is injected by four injectors (one injector per cylinder) into the intake pipe, onto the intake valves. Here the fuel evaporates, mixes with air and enters the engine cylinders in the form of a combustible mixture. The fuel injection system reduces exhaust emissions while improving the vehicle's driving characteristics.

VAZ 2114 engine repair

During the operation of the internal combustion engine on a car, various failures and malfunctions may occur, which can be eliminated by self-repair or with the involvement of specialists. The need for a major overhaul of the power propulsion system, with its proper operation, arises when the mileage reaches 150,000 km. In this case, a VAZ 2114 engine overhaul is needed.

  1. Before you begin disassembling the engine, you need to drain the oil and coolant, and then wash the entire unit. Be sure to remove all attachments so as not to damage them during reassembly.
  2. Disconnect all pipes through which gasoline is supplied.
  3. Remove all systems and components related to the air supply, remove the air supply and exhaust hoses and pipes.
  4. Remove the cooling system pipes and crankcase breather. Don't forget to disconnect the throttle pipe.
  5. Remove the receiver, as well as the pipeline mounting bracket and the fuel rail, remove the injectors with regulators.
  6. Remove the wires with the ignition module and knock sensor. Unscrew the spark plugs. After this, unscrew all sensors.
  7. Remove the generator by first removing the tension belt. With the generator, remove all brackets and strips necessary for its installation and adjustment.
  8. Block the flywheel and remove the generator pulley.
  9. Remove the camshaft drive with the cover, tension mechanism and pulley.
  10. Unscrew the pump, remove the exhaust manifold and thermostat.
  11. Disconnect the oil filter and oil sump, then remove the oil pump.
  12. In order to remove the piston group, you need to unscrew the nuts from the connecting rod bolts and remove the cover.
  13. Since the flywheel is blocked, you need to unscrew its fastenings with the flange and remove the flywheel disk.
  14. Remove the caps from the main bearings along with the lower bearings.
  15. Carefully pull out the crankshaft. It must be handled very carefully to prevent damage and scratches.
  16. Remove the upper liners and thrust half-rings.

When overhauling an internal combustion engine, it is necessary to carefully inspect each unit, component or part. If mechanical damage is detected, the spare part must be replaced. All gaskets, washers and non-metallic parts also need to be replaced.
