My review of the second generation Renault Logan, 102 hp. "Confort"
Traveling through the Internet, I have repeatedly come across and re-read reviews about one of the most common budget cars, Renault Logan.
And so, while on vacation, I decided to leave my impressions of this car. My acquaintance with the machine began with the first generation Logan. Then this particular car was allocated to me for work. I rode it quite a lot.
Recently I collected some money and I decided to get my own wheels, and then a new Renault Logan appeared as if by order, photo below.
In general, I decided to stick with a proven machine rather than try my luck with others. So, since May I got an updated Renault Logan 2014.

I selected the equipment according to the budget, however, I didn’t get impudent, but chose a car with a 102-horsepower gasoline engine in the “Confort” configuration, but with the “Winter” and “Multimedia” packages and, as an added bonus, air conditioning.
Now I already regret it somewhat, there was no point in skimping, and for some reason I miss buying a car with better equipment that has an on-board computer.
Well, okay, let’s look at the pros and cons of the Renault Logan I purchased.
Exterior, interior
It’s not for nothing that the Renault Logan 2014 received good reviews from its owners regarding its appearance. If we compare the updated version with the old generation, the differences are colossal. The first Logan looked downright prim, no style. Everything is simple and no frills.
The new Logan 2014 looks modern. Smoother lines of the front end, a stylized radiator grille, finally removed the turn signals from the wings and moved them to the mirrors. In most, all chopped forms were removed, in general, the appearance of the car began to approach modern standards.

Special praise to the designers for not reducing the ground clearance. Like the first version of Logan, a beginner can easily jump on curbs without fear of getting caught somewhere. For this, the new Renault Logan has positive reviews, and I agree with them.

With the trunk, everything is also at the proper level; its capacity is very good. But there are also disadvantages. Firstly, there is at least some protrusion missing on the trunk lid, which makes opening it difficult.
Secondly, the handle for closing the same trunk lid, installed on the inside, is poorly positioned and takes some getting used to.
And thirdly, it was possible to make the mounting loops in the trunk removable, otherwise they take up space.
The salon was also remodeled well. The dashboard looks more stylish, but, as I said, the trip computer display and the red zone on the tachometer are missing. Otherwise everything is fine. Of course, I would like more equipment, but that’s okay, I use what I have.

The air conditioner works flawlessly and does its job. The multimedia system sounds good, but it could be more impressive. And it copes with its other functions perfectly well. In three months, only one cricket appeared in the cabin in the area of the windshield, but I haven’t looked for where it is yet.

In order not to cover the fabric upholstery of the seats, I purchased covers, which also improved the appearance.
Technical component
In my Renault Logan 2014, I am completely satisfied with the technical characteristics of the engine. I won’t say that the car is very playful, but it moves quite well on the road. If necessary, it allows you to overtake without much strain.
Logan did not test the maximum speed; the maximum speed was 140 km/h. Most of the time I drive at the optimal speed for me, 90-110 km/h.
I can’t say for sure about the amount of gasoline consumption, the only thing I will note is that the car is really economical.
I haven't noticed any problems with the gearbox yet. The lever travel is average, switching occurs without much effort.
I have known how the suspension of this car works since the first version. This is where the suspension is really adjusted to our dead roads.
My Logan’s suspension handles small and medium-sized bumps without much effort, and I haven’t noticed any breakdowns on strong potholes. But its downside is the same high ground clearance.
When cornering at high speeds, body roll is very noticeable. Well, the rest of the suspension performance is not satisfactory.
A postscript will be the general impression of the machine. The new Logan is worth the money. Good adaptation to our roads coupled with relative comfort make this car, in my opinion, one of the best in its category.

Logan is without a doubt the most popular Renault car in our country; already in its new second generation, it has appeared in dealership centers in most Russian regions and has earned numerous positive reviews.
The external similarity of the second generation of Logan with the previous model is beyond doubt, however, there are a lot of recycled parts.
So, with a quick glance at the exterior, completely different optics and stamping of the car body immediately catches your eye.
A characteristic feature of the previous Logan – a huge trunk – remained unchanged. Renault Logan 2 has the same roomy capacity – 510 liters. In addition, one of the most criticized design stupidities of the previous model has become a thing of the past with the advent of the second-generation car - the rear seats in the cabin fold down, allowing you to further increase the usable volume of the luggage compartment.
Thanks to a modified larger radiator grille, a new bumper and an enlarged logo, Logan from the front has become similar in appearance to the rest of the modern line of Renault cars - Megan, Sandero, etc.
Under the hood - almost nothing new
For the domestic market, only two slightly modified, but already quite old 1.6-liter engines are available for the Logan 2:

The technical characteristics of these systems differ, frankly, significantly. The first engine, according to reviews from owners, is frankly weak for Renault Logan 2 - the car clearly lacks dynamics.
The latter’s appetites are also impressive - in the city, even according to the passport data, the car requires 9.8 liters of fuel per hundred. But the sixteen-valve engine is already quite powerful - with it the car behaves confidently and dynamically on the road.

Trunk:
- The trunk is amazing - I don’t even know what you can’t stuff in there. I even stuck two friends in. We were pleased.
- The rear sofa does not fold out - this is a noticeable disadvantage for the Renault Logan. What if you want to take your skis? True, I don’t ski, but suddenly I’ll start.
Paintwork:
- The car has bloomed slightly: there is rust on the roof and on the driver's door, right above the glass. It's a shame. Flaw.
- I have had the car for 5 years now, the mileage is 184,000. Rust has appeared wherever there were scratches: this is a Renault Logan disease
Controllability:
- I didn’t expect handling from Logan, but I was still disappointed. A tank, it is a tank.
- The car is high, there is side windage. When you overtake a truck, the side wind blows you slightly. A matter of habit, of course.

My car is already 1.2 years old, so we can already draw preliminary conclusions. For me, the main criterion when choosing was reliability, and my car so far fully meets my expectations.
In general, there are no complaints about the car. Not fuel voracious. Yes, there are jumps at idle, but this is not critical. The mileage has now exceeded 15,000 km, it has undergone maintenance, which cost 5,300 rubles.
The car is quite playful. Short passes were annoying at first, but then I got used to it.
You need to switch from 1 to 2 immediately and immediately to 3, the third is quite elastic, you can turn the engine in a wide range, go through intersections, and also overcome small bumps in the form of speed bumps, but on the highway 5th gear is not enough. It goes quickly along the highway, 140 is not the limit for it (I didn’t accelerate it anymore).
