Hello again everyone!
After a long stay in nirvana under the influence of enlightening moss, an insight came to me! So I decided to write this article-thought-form-IMHI.
From the very beginning, a person is tormented by the torment of choice: which female to choose, where to sleep, what to eat, where to go, where to be sent, what to do......
And with the advent of labor tools and the expansion of their assortment, such torment only increased. Well, regarding the objects of knifeman worship, there are more questions than answers. I will try to rid the dear reader of at least some of them with this stream of thoughts. So, let's begin.
My personal and unshakable…..forever….strong opinion is that a real male Homa sapiens should still have a tool of various purposes and functionality at hand and in close-access bins. And, most importantly, be able to use it without harm to yourself and others. Well, you simply have to have a knife with you at all times. Have you decided for yourself that you are a natural Male!? Amazing!
Then the question arises: which knife will we carry with us every day, a fixed one or a folding one? This dilemma begins to torment the mind of every newly identified Male. And there were many statements on this topic. I’ll also add some flammable infusion to the communal fire. To answer the age-old question, we ask ourselves a few small ones:
- why the hell is he to me? (although we answered this question for ourselves by realizing ourselves as a Male)
- what am I going to do to them?
- where, in what, on what, with what will we wear it?
- what do I prefer?
The first question is clear. The second one is also quite easy to figure out. Based on my personal experience, a knife in everyday life in most cases fulfills its main purpose - to cut, sometimes to pick something and somewhere. And if we take examples, we tear through food, paper, threads, ropes, fabrics, open boxes......pick holes in a belt, in a container, in food, in the wall of a public bath.......
The second issue has been dealt with. Both fixed and folding are suitable for these tasks. So we go further and answer the third.
In most cases in the city we wear civilian clothes: trousers, jeans, sweatpants, jackets, sweaters, T-shirts, kilts... and are often surrounded by people. As a rule, most of our environment is illiterate in terms of knife culture and is wary and with some fear of carriers of household tools with piercing and cutting properties. This means we need to carry a knife as concealed as possible. Therefore, you need something compact. And everyday clothes are often not suitable for carrying cutlasses without the risk of shocking those around you. This means you need a fold or a small fix.
Let me give you my personal experience again. I’m not a fan of folding ones: they require more attention when caring, they are not as reliable (although this is a controversial issue, especially if we take into account the above-mentioned areas of application in everyday life, where the reliability of a standard, non-Chinese cheap linerlock is obvious), they get clogged with elements of cut products... .. Therefore, I started looking for a city fix. As it turns out, there are quite a lot of them on the market.
But for everyday comfortable carrying, not everything is equipped in the standard version: the sheath is on a free suspension, the impossibility of hanging the sheath in a position convenient for you, the suspension is not very reliable….
It seems that manufacturers make urban fixes and at the same time do not think at all about the convenience of wearing them. Well, or am I being so harmful.....
During the search I went through a bunch of small fixes. And then this thing came out - the length of the blade that is convenient for use leads to difficulties when wearing, because... The dimensions of the knife do not allow you to wear any clothes, and the small wedge is uncomfortable to use (with a 50mm wedge it is quite inconvenient to cut bread or a doctor’s sausage). The most successful urban fix, in my opinion, is the Cold Steel Brave Heart, but only after upgrading the belt mounting system. Here you have a fairly long blade and a thin knife and sheath.
But! Forest spirits and personal experience told me that for urban daily wear, a folding one would be best.
And better yet, something stiletto-like. This gives the knife a small size and, thanks to the clip, the ability to wear it even in a thong for the most concealed carry.
I chose Cold Steel Ti-Lite IV for myself. It can be used in abundance as a percussion instrument. This is the only folding one in my collection.
Just like that. There are no letters, but the conclusion is outrageously simple. I don't like folding ones, but nothing is better for the city. Compact, easy to use, you can choose a model to match any clothes, wear it so secretly that no one will ever know that you have it until you show it.
