Military modifications

Based on the 767-300F model, the following variants of military aircraft were developed by order of the US Air Force, but did not go into production:

  • universal medium military transport aircraft

The 767's cabin is almost 1.5 meters wider than earlier aircraft designs, and as a result it could seat about 224 passengers in a standard three-class cabin layout, but there is plenty of room to increase the number of seats. For example, for charter flights there is an option 767-300 with a single class cabin that can accommodate up to 325 passengers.

Plenty of space was also allocated for luggage and cargo: the 767-200 version can accommodate up to 86.9 m³ of cargo, and the 767-300 version - 114.2 m³, respectively, which was 45% more than the same figure for the 707 model, and more than any other commercial airliner in its class.

The 767 is estimated to have carried 795 million passengers and completed 4.8 million commercial flights since it first entered service on September 8, 1982. The average daily flight time for all aircraft produced is 10 hours.

First salon

There are 91 places in total. Rows 1 to 12. Seats at the front of the plane are always the most preferred. That's why:

Design

When creating the Boeing 767, the designers used the latest technological developments in the field of aircraft construction, as a result of which the airliner received:

  • two dual-circuit turbofan engines, which reduced fuel costs;
  • digital flight control systems;
  • improved wing aerodynamics: the span was increased and the sweep was optimized;
  • low noise level;
  • lightweight manufacturing materials: composites and aluminum alloys, which lightened the weight of the Boeing 767 and made it possible to carry out regional flights.

An innovation of the Boeing 767 was the “glass” cabin.

Facilitated navigation and control of the vessel, which made it possible to eliminate the need for a flight engineer and allowed the formation of a crew of two pilots. Customers perceived this with caution, and at first the company, as an additional option, offered a cabin designed for three people.

This state of affairs lasted for about two years, then the issue was studied by a government commission, which proved that the Boeing 767 could be piloted by two people. Demand for airliners has increased, which was facilitated by the fact that after the expansion of ETOPS standards, routes over the Atlantic opened for them.

Story

In 1972, some time after the launch of a wide-body aircraft under the symbol 747, it launched the design process for the next model under the code name 7X7. The initial plan to create a short-haul, high-capacity passenger aircraft with a short takeoff did not arouse interest among potential customers, and the developer switched to creating a transcontinental airliner. After working through several layout options, the designers chose a design reminiscent of the European Airbus A-300. During these years, aviation technology has reached an incredibly high level. Powerful and economical new generation aircraft engines and composite structural materials have appeared, and new trends in aerodynamics have taken hold. Fuel efficiency has increased. All this was used on Boeing aircraft models 757 and 767, which had standardized cockpits, called glass cockpits. Such technologies meant the presence of displays instead of instrument dial indicators, the reduction of the crew to two people, and the replacement of the navigator with an FMS flight control system. Computer modeling was widely used.

The release of the 767 aircraft was planned for. The main model at first was the Boeing 767-200, its production started on July 14, 1978.

After a series of test flights and tests of several samples with different engines, the company certified the airliner. Deliveries began in October 1982.

The best seats in the Boeing 737-800

Despite the fact that the Boeing 737-800 is at the carrier’s disposal in limited quantities (there is only one aircraft), it is still advisable to know the layout of the airliner and the seating arrangement.
