Chevrolet Tahoe is a family of body-on-frame full-size SUVs that are built using technical elements of pickup trucks. The car has been produced since 1995. There is also another similar SUV in production, known under the GMC brand - this model has been produced since 1992, and is distinguished by a long-wheelbase design (with an enlarged body). The full name of the car is GMC Yukon XL. In addition, other full-size SUVs based on the Chevrolet Tahoe are also produced: the Chevrolet Suburban and Cadillac Escalade.
The Chevrolet Tahoe, like its platform modifications (Suburban, Yukon), is based on a rear-wheel drive frame design with connected front-wheel drive. The body design has remained unchanged since the start of production. To this day, the car is produced with minor updates. Thus, since 2014, the production of the 4th generation Chevrolet Tahoe has been mastered. Note that the model from Cadillac is a premium version of Tahoe, and differs only in additional options.

The model has been produced since 1992. At first, only cars with a 3-door body were produced, and in 1995, 5-door versions were added to them.
The "1500" designation on the body of a Tahoe indicates the payload capacity in pounds (very approximately). The following power units were installed on all-terrain vehicles: gasoline 5.7-liter V8 (258 hp) and diesel 6.5-liter V8 (182 hp) with turbocharging (since 1994). The engines were paired with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.
The transmission had several options. The American market offered not only all-wheel drive vehicles, but also those with rear axle drive. There are versions where the rear wheels are permanently driven, and the front wheels are connected using buttons (on the first releases - with a lever) in the cabin. If all-wheel drive is engaged manually, it can only be used in slippery areas, otherwise the transmission will quickly fail.
Later, cars began to be equipped with a transmission in which the front axle was automatically connected electronically when the rear axle slipped.
The Tahoe has an independent front suspension and a dependent rear suspension with a solid axle beam on leaf springs. This design allows you to confidently overcome off-road conditions.
A positive attribute of the Tahoe is its large interior space. Even the 3-door version, whose wheelbase is 15 cm smaller, has enough legroom for rear passengers.

The 4Lo mode is used in difficult road conditions - when driving in deep snow, mud, on steep slopes and sand. Changing from/to 4Lo mode requires stopping the vehicle and only then shifting the transmission from/to this mode.
Neutral mode allows Chevrolet Tahoe owners to tow the vehicle if necessary without the risk of damaging the transmission. This is one of the few cars with an automatic transmission to offer this option.
The Chevrolet Tahoe is equipped with a third generation Vortec V8 engine. Compared to the previous version (5.7 l), its volume has decreased to 5.3 liters. However, the new engine has become even more powerful (273 hp) and at the same time more economical. At the same time, 85% of the maximum torque is achieved over a wider rpm range, which provides excellent maneuverability and traction characteristics.
The Tahoe comes standard with all-wheel disc brakes with ABS, as well as Dynamic Brake-force Distribution, which is a computer-based unit that redistributes braking force between the front and rear wheels depending on changes in their rotation speed. The 2007 Tahoe is built on a new platform that will underpin 11 more General Motors models. Compared to its predecessor, the car has become 12.8 cm longer (5.12 m), the difference in width and height is insignificant: plus three (2.007 m) and plus seven (1.955 m) millimeters. The new generation of Tahoe received: power, a spacious interior, modern elements of comfort and safety. At its core, the 2007 Tahoe remains a traditional SUV with a rugged rear axle. Chevrolet Tahoe is offered in three trim levels. These are the base LS, the luxury LT and the sporty LTZ.
The basic equipment includes: stability control system, climate control, CD-MP3 player and on-board computer.
LT has three more sublevels: LT-1, LT-2 and LT-3. The LT-1 features an audio remote control built into the steering column, bucket seats and fog lights. You can also note the spacious trunk. I would also like to note the comfortable interior and sound insulation. In the previous generation, I didn’t like the stiff suspension, quality of finishing materials and high fuel consumption of the Chevrolet Tahoe.
