Review from the owner of the Nissan Qashqai 1.2 turbo 2014

Description

In the first generation of Nissan Qashqai, a 1.6 liter petrol engine was combined with a manual transmission. These were front-wheel drive crossovers with a power of 114 hp. With. It was possible to reach the first hundred in such a car in 12 seconds. This was one of the low-power units installed on the first Qashqais, but reviews from owners indicate its economical consumption compared to other engines. In the city, unlike the two-liter unit, it consumed 8.4 liters, and on the highway even less - 5.7 liters.

After restyling in 2010, the 1.6 engine became available not only as a manual, but was also offered in tandem with a continuously variable transmission; both units continued to use gasoline as fuel.

The technical characteristics of the Qashqai 1.6 liter have become slightly better - the acceleration speed to the first hundred has been reduced from 12 seconds to 11.8 seconds, and the gasoline economy indicator has also become slightly better. But the manual transmission in combination with front-wheel drive remained unchanged.

The second unit, which began to be installed on post-restyling models, received a variator as a transmission, while becoming one of the most economical in terms of fuel consumption among engines with the same volume in the first generation Kashkaev.

On Nissan Qashqai 2, they began to install only a diesel engine with a 1.6 liter engine. Its power has become significantly greater, which has a better effect on the technical equipment and has made it possible to reduce weak points to a minimum. At the same time, every owner of a 1.6 CVT will express an opinion about the high efficiency of the unit - in the city no more than 5.6 liters. This engine is offered, as before, with front-wheel drive in combination with a CVT.

The diesel power installed on the second generation Nissan Qashqai is 130 hp. With. with an impressive torque of 320 Nm already from 1750 rpm. This provides the car with rapid acceleration without the need to strain the engine.

Reviews

Reviews of the Nissan Qashqai with a 1.6 liter manual engine and front-wheel drive, as well as a car with an automatic transmission, are mostly positive. In them you can also find a description of what problems this type of engine encounters, both before and after 100,000 km. Real reviews from Nissan Qashqai car owners will help you get a more accurate picture of a car with a 1.6 CVT engine and a manual transmission.

I have a 2012 Qashqai, with a 1.6 CVT. I can immediately say that the car is reliable and even with front-wheel drive copes well with winter roads without slipping. For me, you couldn’t find a better car: economical fuel consumption plus a good suspension – what else do you need?

It took me a long time to choose which engine to take the Qashqai with - 1.6 or 2.0 liters. As a result, I settled on a less powerful unit. I took it with MT because it fully helps to reveal the capabilities of a not very powerful engine. I am quite pleased with my choice and have no regrets. This is just an excellent family car that does not need fast acceleration and is quite happy with a calm, comfortable ride.

When the question arose about buying a new car, I didn’t doubt for a minute that it would be a Nissan. But which one? At first I wanted a Juke, but after a test drive I realized that it wasn’t for me: on the highway it’s quite noisy in the cabin, and the suspension is a bit stiff, not as I imagined. I walked for a week and thought, and in the end I decided to try the Qashqai for a test drive (my dad said he would add it for purchase). The thrill I got from the trip cannot be described! As a result, I bought myself a 1.6 liter XE with a manual engine. While I have driven 1000 km, the engine behaves normally. I don’t know which of the offered engines is more reliable, but mine hasn’t let me down so far.

I bought a Qashqai for my wife, they took it for a manual, since she doesn’t recognize an automatic. Our car is a 2010 model with 114 horses. Before purchasing, I read a lot about performance characteristics, and as a result, we made the right choice. Exactly what a business woman needs for city trips. She's happy.

I bought a crossover with a 1.6 engine and a CVT. An excellent choice for trips like mine - around the city and to the country. I was pleased with the comfortable interior, easy seat adjustment, excellent sound insulation, and spacious trunk. Of course, those who are used to accelerating quickly from a standstill should think about another car.

I bought my Qashqai with a 1.6 liter engine only due to limited funds. If the situation were different (no mortgage and repairs), I would have bought one with a two-liter engine. But overall I never had any complaints about my engine. It accelerates well on the highway, is maneuverable, the suspension, as I like, is moderately stiff and elastic. In general, it was not in vain that I bought it, but the next car I will buy is more powerful.

Review of Nissan Qashqai 1.6 (114 hp / 1.6 l. / automatic transmission) (2012)

Hello, reader!

Today I will tell you about a new modification of the Qashqai, which I was one of the first to buy in the hero city of Moscow, namely the Qashqai with a 1.6-liter engine and a CVT.

Since I would like it to be interesting and not painful for everyone to read mine, I divided it into 4 parts: “the agony of choice”, “about the car”, “cons”, “about 1.6 with a CVT”. The smartest ones, who already know everything about Qashqai and are only interested in the question: “is it going or not going?” I ask you to go straight to the fourth part. For everyone else who has never driven one, I think it will be interesting to read the full review, since it was written from “unwashed eyes.”

So, part 1. The agony of choice.

After five years of hard use of the Hyundai SantaFeClassic, it was decided to purchase a new car. Budget 850,000 rubles. Requirements: ground clearance of 20 cm, automatic, preferably a Japanese brand (but not critical), any assembly (even Chinese), just not Russian, only gasoline engine, economical, reliable, with a rather large interior and trunk, the model must be mass-produced, time-tested (so as to avoid childhood illnesses) all-wheel drive is not critical, but if you don’t have all-wheel drive, then ESP is a must! Well, it would still be desirable to have 4-6 pillows, since we travel all the time with the cabin fully loaded with people, with a child. It’s clear that you need a five-door car.

I started going through cars. It was impossible to find anything suitable for that kind of money according to the above parameters. According to the principle of “no fish, no fish”, the following were pre-selected based on price: Renault Duster, Nissan Juke, Skoda Yeti, Kia Soul, Hyundai Santa Fe Classic, Ssang Yong Aktion.

Renault Duster.

For months now, specialized magazines and the Internet have been fanning mass hysteria about this car. At first I also succumbed to hysteria. I called the showrooms, tried to sign up for a queue, resigned myself to the fact that the dealer was pushing extras and for some reason his price for a naked car was still about 50 thousand higher than indicated on the website (this is his fee for urgency). I thought that for such a price, even taking into account the overpayment for urgency and additional fees, there would be significant savings compared to competitors. No deadlines are guaranteed. In general, dealers are enjoying the excitement. Waiting for who knows how long is not an option for me at all, and then another small, but very unpleasant moment became clear, which completely turned me away from the idea of buying this car. From one very authoritative magazine (you yourself know who is the most authoritative and oldest among us) I read that the two-liter modification of Duster borrowed the engine and gearbox from the previous generation of Megan. Something stirred in my brain. I looked on the Internet for reviews of used cars and for sure - my memory did not deceive me - an automatic on two-liter Meganes rarely lasts even 60,000 km (review from the magazine “Buy a Car”). Taking into account the fact that I was going to rent the next car, like the previous one, for 5 years, the Duster was immediately retired.

Skoda Yeti.

Well, everything is simple here. I drove it already with a turbine and DSG. Thank you, never again and never again. If anyone is interested in why, you can read the 2nd part of my review about the operation of the Skoda Octavia A5.

Nissan Juke and Kia Soul fell away purely because of their smallness. By the way, like the Suzuki SX-4, which is difficult to classify as a crossover, even despite all-wheel drive.

The Hyundai Santa Fe Classic was dropped for two reasons. The first reason is that the car is being discontinued, like, by the way, the 2nd generation Santa. Therefore, the 1st generation Santa is not even the last century, but the century before last. Plus, the build quality of the latest batches has dropped sharply, and the fuel consumption of the gasoline version is very high (17 liters per hundred). Let's not forget about the constantly leaking radiator (changed 4 times).

Ssang Yong is good for everything, except for what it collects at the cannery. There is only a diesel version with an automatic transmission, and due to the fact that the model is still completely raw, there are a lot of complaints about it.

And then I saw an advertisement for Qashqai on TV. 835 thousand with automatic. I called and took the car from the dealer without any hesitation, but after a test drive.

Surprisingly, the car met all the parameters at once: the model has been on the production line for a long time, the production is quite widespread (there will be no problems with spare parts and service), a Japanese brand, the assembly is not ours, ground clearance is 20 cm, automatic, economical, ESP, airbags, a fairly large car with a rather large trunk. The only thing that confused me was the dynamics - 13 seconds to a hundred. I thought and thought and decided that people somehow drive Getz with 1.4, Focus-2 with 1.6, Mitsubishi ASX with 1.8, two-liter Vitaras, three-liter Padzheriks - all these cars with automatic transmission accelerate to hundreds in 13 seconds And nothing, somehow they drive. They also turn on the air conditioning in the summer. So I decided not to be afraid of the weak engine.

Concluding this part with a reason: in the Qashqai’s homeland in England, the car costs even more than here in terms of rubles. Namely 19,250 pounds, which at the time of my purchase was 900 thousand rubles. These are the miracles.

Part 2. About the car.

I always kind of “meant” Qashqai. And when I bought Tussan (then the Qashqai was cheaper), and when I bought the Santa Fe Classic, and when I bought my Rav-4. But for some reason the choice was always not in his favor. Either it turned out to be too expensive (compared to Tussan), then too small (compared to Santa Fe), or too un-Japanese (compared to Rav-4). I never even got around to taking it for a test drive. And here is such a tempting price for our times in the absence of other normal options.

The first thing that pleasantly surprised us when we got acquainted with the car was the rich equipment of the XE.

Despite the spartan unpainted side mirrors, door moldings and stampings, the interior of the car is pleasantly surprising, given the stinginess of modern automakers (especially German ones). The car has ESP, ABS, powerful air conditioning, full power accessories, a radio, headlight washers(!), control of the on-board computer, telephone and radio from the steering wheel(!), 6(!) airbags, incl. curtain airbags for the 2nd row of seats, heated mirrors and seats, seat adjustment, incl. and in height, and the steering wheel in height and reach (!), on-board computer, light sensor (!). What was shocking was that despite all this, the car had good sound insulation, the sound of the standard audio system was very decent, and the interior was completely trimmed with very pleasant soft plastic (not just the front panel). The steering wheel, although not trimmed with leather, is also made of good plastic, fits perfectly in the hand, is small and comfortable. All buttons are pressed very smoothly with a pleasant force. There is no play or creaking.

I also consider the service interval of 15,000 km to be a big advantage for cars with high annual mileage. The savings for long runs like ours will be very significant.

While driving, the car was surprised by its dense and energy-intensive suspension. The car literally swallows all large and medium-sized bumps, and large ones (such as speed bumps) go over surprisingly smoothly. For example, my Rav-4 has a much stiffer suspension.

If you are looking for an equivalent in terms of handling and dynamics, then Qashqai is the Ford Focus 2 among crossovers. Dynamics with 1.6 and automatic transmission are one to one. Suspension and handling are also comparable when adjusted for the higher center of gravity. By the way, Qashqai’s visibility is excellent. In addition to the review backJ

Another plus: a deep drawer in the armrest, good proportions and dimensions of the trunk (although it is a bit high).

Part 3. Cons.

1. In fact, the Qashqai is a lifted hatchback. Therefore, the ceiling in the cabin and the doorway are quite low for a crossover. With my height of 172 cm, even in the average seat height position, the ceiling really presses on my forehead. I don’t know how people drive in cars with glass roofs; they probably lower the seat all the way to the floor. So there is no feeling of spaciousness like in a Rafik or my Santa Fe. Yes, not cramped, but not spacious either.

2. If you drive too fast and take turns at high speed, then at the exit of the turn you feel like your rear is blowing away. The CAP does not interfere until the last minute.

3. The seat belts are installed below the shoulder, making it difficult to fasten.

4. The power window buttons are not at hand, but somewhere in the middle of the door, so in order to lower or raise the window you have to bend your arm unnaturally.

5. The sound of the signal resembles the sound of a cat strangling. At first, I didn’t identify the plaintive squeak that comes out when I press the signal on the steering wheel at all with my car. There was a feeling that in the neighboring yard the children were torturing some small, weak animal.

6. Eurolight without warning. Qashqai buyers know: turning the steering column light control switch to the OFF position will not turn off the headlights. They don’t care, they have EUROSVET!

7. Sensor for the presence of a passenger in the front seat. I always put my purse on the front seat next to me. The seat belt sensor is constantly activated. The “smart” car perceives a bag weighing 700 grams as a full-fledged passenger and requires me to buckle it up.

8. Scary key. I can't stand car ignition keys with a narrow blade. The terrible key of my Ford Focus has always infuriated me. And now I’m healthy again - I have to put up with this uncooperative freak for the next 5 yearsL

9. The build quality of the body is so-so. The gaps, although very small, are all different. For example, on the left side of the hood the gap is a millimeter larger than on the right. On my new Rafik there is such a thing... THERE IS... and on Rafik too! :) But if you don’t look closely, you won’t notice...

10. Strange algorithm for the washer operation. This is where I think there is a clear saving on matches. Instead of spending a couple of dollars on a separate headlight washer control button, Nissan got greedy and made the headlight washer automatically operate every fifth time I use the windshield washer. Why not every sixth, fourth or third time? A? Economists, they feel sorry for the money on the button.

11. Prices at the dealer - you'll just be pumped. Original trunk mat - 3,000 rubles. The same original one in a regular store - 800 rubles. And so on for all additional stages.

12. I almost forgot - another minor puncture - the automatic transmission selector ends in mode L - this is the driving mode only in the first gear, and the normal driving mode D is the penultimate one. You need to be very careful not to miss. I’ve already missed a couple of times and for a long time I couldn’t understand why the car “won’t go.” It would be much more logical if mode D was the last, and L the penultimate.

13. And one more thing. The Qashqai's steering wheel does not correspond to the image of a women's car. The steering wheel is quite heavy.

Part 4. Final. About the CVT and 1.6.

The variator allows you to completely squeeze all the juices out of the engine. This is exactly what Nissan's CVT does. Acceleration is rubbery, like with any other CVT, but the dynamics are greatly reduced - due to the monotonous hum of the engine, it seems that the car is not moving. At the same time, for example, on a Ford Focus 2 with 1.6 and an adaptive automatic transmission with absolutely the same characteristics, it seemed that the car was going much faster, because The gearbox sportily cranked the engine up to full speed in every gear. Although Nissan has the same sport mode as Ford, I don’t use it until the car has been run-in. In general, the Qashqai can cope very well with 1.6 in the city, if you turn the engine to 3-4 thousand rpm at the start. If you don’t turn it (press the gas smoothly), then at the start the car seems to choke - there is not enough power. Something similar happens to turbocharged cars at the start and is called turbo lag. Something similar also happens in cars with a power of around 100 hp. with a manual transmission when you start from second gear. At first the car doesn’t move, but then somehow it does. In general, if you turn the engine more or less, the car accelerates quite dynamically up to 120 km/h. Afterwards - strained under the howl of the engine.

As I said above, there are many cars that have similar dynamics. Starting from Kalina, ending with Padzherik and Land Cruiser. But I think Nissan primarily hit Mitsubishi ASX. If earlier there was price parity between the two front-wheel drive modifications of these models, with the Qashqai outperforming in dynamics, now Nissan has made a knight's move, rolling out a modification with similar dynamic characteristics, but 100 thousand cheaper.

That's basically it. If you have any questions, write. I will be happy to answer.

PS Now I understand why Qashqai is the best-selling crossover in Russia. There's a lot here for relatively little money. Morally, it is definitely not outdated, even though it has been on sale for a long time.
