Audi q7 fuel consumption 3.0, 3.6, 4.2 diesel and gasoline

By kanistra Posted on 07/19/2015

In 2005, in Frankfurt, the automobile company Audi presented the full-size crossover Audi Q7. The new car was produced on the E platform - the same platform that was used in the production of the Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne. The Q7 was available with both petrol and diesel engines.

Fuel consumption rate per 100 km

The Audi Q7 powertrain range includes 3.0-liter petrol and turbodiesel engines with a power output of 272 hp. and 233 hp respectively. The fuel consumption of such units is 14.4-14.6 liters in the urban cycle and 8.5-8.3 liters on the highway.

    Owner reviews about consumption

    • Pavel, Vladikavkaz. Audi Q7 3.0d AT 2006. I bought the car with a mileage of 160 thousand km. The overall impression is good, but there are some shortcomings. Poor sound insulation for a car of this level. The engine is also very noisy, rattling like a tractor. And the consumption is high for a diesel engine - 15 liters in the city, 8.5 liters on the highway. On the plus side, it has very good handling even at high speed, the suspension is not bad, you don’t feel any bumps.
    • Nikolay, Moscow. At first everything was fine. I have been using it for a long time, but recently more and more malfunctions have begun to appear. The main ones are the breakdown of the climate control. A lot of money was spent on its renovation. The air suspension was also damaged. The 3.0 diesel engine seems to run fine, but the diesel consumption is high, especially in the city - 13.5 liters. On the highway everything seems to be normal - up to 8 liters. Build 2013, automatic transmission.
    • Artem, Arkhangelsk. The car is definitely worth the money. Handling and dynamics are all excellent. The air suspension is generally pleasing. At a speed of 60-70 km/h I don’t notice any speed bumps. Consumption is 14.5 liters in the city and 9 liters on the highway. Very expensive maintenance and consumables for the car. So, replacing the pads cost a pretty penny. I bought the 2011 version with the 3.0 AT engine.
    • Vladimir, Peter. Audi Q7 3.0 AT 2006. This is my second Q7. Before that I drove from Italy. Later I sold it and bought the same one in excellent condition from a friend. In general, the car has no equal. It holds the road perfectly, directional stability is the best even in winter with ice, when it drifts in different directions. Consumes about 12-13 liters per hundred.
    • Andrey, Moscow. I bought a Q7 in August 2010 new from a dealership. It behaves very well on the track, stable. The consumption of the 3.0 AT engine in the city is 13 liters, on the highway at 120 km/h 8.5 liters, and at 150 km/h it consumes up to 11 liters of fuel. The brakes in the car are also good. But there is still one drawback - a very strong and unpleasant knocking sound in the suspension when driving over uneven surfaces. Also weak high beam.

    Audi Q7 owner reviews

    Generation 1

    Petrol

    • Nikolay, Moscow region. I drive a 2014 Audi Q7. I have an updated version with a three-liter turbo engine producing 333 horsepower. The engine with automatic transmission works perfectly, acceleration to hundreds in 8 seconds. For a five-meter SUV, this is an outstanding figure. The maximum speed is more than 200 km/h without problems. Gasoline consumption is 15 liters per 100 km, on the highway you can keep within 9 liters.
    • Vasily, Novosibirsk. A worthy representative of the premium segment, the car deserves praise for all its characteristics - power, maneuverability, dynamics, equipment and plenty of space in the cabin. Engine 333 hp. With. provides dynamics, like those of simple passenger hatchbacks such as the VW golf. Judge for yourself - the acceleration time to the first hundred is 7 seconds. The car was produced in 2013, I have an Audi Q7 from the first owner, now the mileage is 80 thousand km. In the city it consumes 15-16 liters per 100 km.
    • Maxim, Kaliningrad. I am the owner of a restyled first generation Audi Q7 SUV, the car was produced in 2015. Option with a three-liter gasoline engine producing 333 hp. With. and with automatic transmission. All-wheel drive version. A solid and powerful executive crossover, the odometer now shows 78 thousand km. The basic equipment with this engine includes dual-zone climate control, a premium audio system and a bunch of other options, including electronic assistants. I am the first owner, I have studied all the pros and cons. The stiff suspension, by crossover standards, is suitable for our city roads and country lanes, but nothing more. The car consumes 15 liters of 95 gasoline per 100 km, outside the city it is 9-10 liters. The crossover pleases with sharp handling and powerful brakes. Despite the stiff suspension, the cabin is quiet, you can talk in a low voice at high speeds.
    • Vitaly, Orenburg. An excellent SUV, it is much better than its closest competitors. The car looks like a large luxury ship. I praise the Audi designers for the successful body shapes, which make the SUV look even larger than it actually is. The car is equipped with a 350-horsepower 4.2-liter engine, which consumes 20 liters per 100 km.
    • Sergey, Samara. I have a standard Audi Q7 with the base petrol engine and automatic transmission. The car has all-wheel drive and an automated transmission. A fast and at the same time voracious car, it consumes 18-20 liters in the urban cycle. Maintenance costs are gigantic. Apparently, it was necessary to take the version with a diesel engine, but such an engine is demanding on the quality of diesel fuel, which we do not have very well. The 2008 model consumes 10 liters of 95 gasoline on the highway.

    Diesels

    • Alexander, Sverdlovsk. I have a 205 Audi Q7, a used example from 13 years ago. I bought it in 2021, supposedly from the first owner. I was attracted by the version with a 3-liter diesel engine. Its power is 233 hp. p., automatic transmission, also has all-wheel drive. This is the basic Standard version, the most economical version of the first generation Audi Q7. In the city it consumes 15 liters per 100 km, outside the city it is 9 liters. The car is quite fast, despite its large dimensions and considerable weight. Accelerates to 100 km/h in 10 seconds, and the maximum speed can reach 200 km/h. The car is not suitable for off-road use, but on the other hand, it is comfortable on country roads, despite the stiff suspension. The interior is simply huge, but there are abrasions - the car is no longer young. The automatic transmission works with jerks, which means it’s time to go to the service center.
    • Timur, Ufa. A large and unpretentious SUV, very strong and durable. Designed for the city and long-distance roads, but not for off-road use. I have a version with a diesel engine with a power of 326 horsepower, a displacement of 4.1 liters. A very voracious diesel engine, I didn’t even expect it from Audi. In the city I get around 15 liters per 100 km, outside the city it’s 9-10 liters. But acceleration to 100 km/h takes only 6-7 seconds.
    • Rinat, Simferopol. I drive an Audi Q7 with a 500 horsepower diesel engine. I found this rare example from a private collector who has many old and new Audi cars and restores them. I wanted the 500-horsepower diesel Q7 so much that I ordered it from Moscow. The car is cool, like new, fast and maneuverable. I just can’t get used to the stiff suspension, because we have enough bad roads, potholes and gullies. Diesel fuel consumption per 100 km is 15 liters.
    • Mikhail, Ulyanovsk. I am the owner of an Audi Q7 with a diesel engine in the Standard V12 TDI configuration. This is a rather rare example that I found in 2016 at an official Audi dealership. This is the fastest version of the first generation Audi Q7, the 2008 version, with an automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The main advantage of the car is a 500-horsepower 5.9-liter diesel engine. With such an engine, a large crossover turns into a sports car, capable of overtaking even a VW Golf GTI or some Ford Focus ST. At the same time, the car is relatively economical, as far as possible with such an engine. For example, in the urban cycle you can achieve 15 liters per 100 km, while on the highway you get 10 liters. True, at high speeds the noise in the cabin is incredible, and the suspension is very stiff - this is probably to increase stability when cornering quickly. But comfort is out of the question with such a suspension.
    • Georgy, Penza. I drive an Audi Q7 with a three-liter diesel engine as standard. The car is equipped with an automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, and there is a full package of options. I don’t understand at all why overpay for additional equipment, a more powerful engine, etc., if a 230-horsepower diesel engine is sufficient for this car. It’s clear that you want a more powerful car, but there’s no point. My version of the Audi Q7 is optimal in terms of price, performance and efficiency. In the city I get around 15 liters per 100 km.

    Generation 2

    Petrol

    • Karina, Priozersk. I made the right choice in favor of the Audi Q7. This is a top-end car in all respects, equipped with all-wheel drive and a 250-horsepower engine. The dynamics amaze both the ear and the emotions, accelerating to hundreds in eight seconds. A cool crossover, its dynamics are not inferior to more compact cars. The turbine is doing its job. The machine is of the second generation, in the basic version. The automatic transmission works so well that it is a worthy replacement for conventional mechanics. In the city I get around 9 l/100 km.
    • Yaroslav, Nizhny Novgorod. I am the owner of an Audi Q7 in Sport trim. The car is 2021, I am the first owner. Version with a 250-horsepower turbo engine and automatic transmission. In the city it consumes 9 liters, outside the city it is 7 liters per 100 km. The car is adapted to our roads, but excessive rigidity is still felt. Overall the crossover is worth the money spent. It is also suitable for light off-road use, for country country roads. But its main element is good roads, preferably without ruts and gullies.
    • Daniil, Kirovsk. I found the right Audi Q7 SUV for my needs and needs. I have an updated 2015 model, a second generation car with a mileage of 70 thousand km. Bought in 2021. The three-year-old copy looked like it was new, but I had to pay extra. I have the basic version with a 2 liter petrol engine. Power 250 horses, automatic transmission, four-wheel drive. Gasoline consumption is 9 liters in the urban cycle. You just have to think about it, and on the highway it’s actually 6 liters per hundred. A very economical large SUV with a body length of about 5 meters, with a spacious and comfortable interior. I bought it at a dealership. The car does not require investment, I don’t drive that often, mostly around the city. To work and back home, sometimes I go out of town for a picnic or hunting with friends. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes seven seconds, and the top speed is around 220 km/h. I have never once regretted switching from a Mercedes-Benz GLK to this car. Granted, this is a full-size SUV, but it handles just as well as the more compact GLK. One of the downsides is the inconvenience in traffic jams or parking lots.
    • Yaroslav, St. Petersburg. I have a second generation Audi Q7, Comfort equipment with a two-liter gasoline engine. There are minimal differences in dynamics, comfort is also at an identical level. After all, I drove the previous Audi Q7, with a similar engine, but with a volume of 3 liters. In general, I wanted new sensations, and there was an opportunity to renew myself. In the end, I'm a little disappointed, but the new car is in no way inferior to its predecessor. The car was produced in 2021 and covered 60 thousand km in two years of operation. Average gasoline consumption is 10 liters. A car with a 250-horsepower engine and automatic transmission.

    Diesels

    • Sergey, Saratov. I drive a second-generation Audi Q7, I have a car with full mincemeat, so to speak. The Sport package, a 250-horsepower diesel unit, perfectly reveals the name of this package. Peppy dynamics, sensitive brakes and sharp handling - all this inspires confidence in the car and sets you up for fast driving without any delay. The car is equipped with a dual-zone climate system and various assistants for safe driving. In the city, the car consumes no more than 8-9 liters per 100 km.
    • Yaroslav, Nizhny Novgorod region. I am the owner of a second generation Audi Q7, I bought this car relatively recently, in 2021. The machine, in my opinion, is in the most successful design - in terms of maintenance costs and characteristics. I'm talking about the version with a diesel engine, which has excellent acceleration dynamics thanks to 250 hp. With. and a fast automatic transmission, and at the same time consumes only 8 liters per hundred. There is enough space in the cabin for tall passengers, and judging by the quality of the materials and the smell in the cabin, there is no doubt that you are sitting in an Audi.
    • Igor, Stavropol region. I have a diesel version of the second generation Audi Q7, Business package. A car with a three-liter 250-horsepower diesel engine and an automatic transmission. A car with all-wheel drive and automatic transmission. The chassis is tuned for fast and aggressive driving with sharp cornering; in general, the character of the car is felt from the first hundred kilometers. In addition, the sparkle is added by a lively diesel engine, which consumes only 8 liters per 100 km. On the highway the car consumes 6 liters. Overall, the crossover is excellent in all respects. The Germans managed to improve their flagship SUV without going too far, as they say. Dynamics and efficiency have improved, comfort and convenience have increased, and the design has become sportier. In general, the car now feels more compact, unlike its predecessor. 2021 model, traveled 23 thousand km. I enjoy riding.
    • Vadim, Ryazan. I'm happy with the car, this is my first premium crossover equipped with advanced options. I bought this car in 2021, since then I have driven 80 thousand km, I have no plans to sell it yet. Look, maybe I’ll sell it when I’ve driven the same distance. The car is like new, nothing creaks or vibrates, the interior is beautifully put together. No extraneous sounds in the cabin. It is impossible to go wrong with German quality. I have a version with a 3-liter 250-horsepower diesel engine, which consumes no more than 8-9 liters per 100 km in the city.

    Audi Q7 3.6 AT+MT

    Official information

Another gasoline engine is a 3.6 liter engine. The power of such a unit is 280 hp. The maximum speed is 225 km/h. As for fuel consumption, it consumes around 17.8 liters per hundred kilometers in the city and 9.8 liters on the highway.

Other cars: UAZ Bukhanka fuel consumption per 100 km. 402, 409 injector, carburetor

Real gasoline consumption on the roads

    • Evgeniy, Kaluga. Audi Q7 3.6 MT 2007. The car is comfortable and fast, I especially like the ease of operation. Gasoline consumption per 100 km in the city is 18 liters, on the highway up to 10-11 liters. The weak point is the suspension, which is very unreliable. Also poor and expensive service. Moreover, they are also scammers - they replace the parts with old ones, but they cost the same as new ones.
    • Tatyana, Chelyabinsk. The new Audi Q7 (built in 2009) immediately captivated me from the outside. I like the dynamics and sound of the engine when accelerating. The 3.6 AT engine consumes an average of 14.5 liters. I encountered the following problem: after 14,000 km, the computer turned off and did not turn on again. With big problems they replaced it under warranty. Later, at 35,000 km, the same problem again. Before this I had a BMW of the same class, and there were no such serious problems.
    • Denis, Kursk. Audi Q7 3.6 AT 2009. An excellent car with excellent directional stability. But the electronics act up very badly and live their own lives. When overtaking, the safe mode is activated, and accordingly it is impossible to gain speed. Pneumatics also fail. My friend also faced similar problems. Consumption is generally adequate - a stable 11 liters on the highway, and up to 19 liters in the city.
    • Sergey, Simferopol. The car is already 4 years old (I bought a used 2008 model). It drives great and holds the road. Gasoline consumption is 15 liters. There were no problems with breakdowns, but the service was not good. There are always some kind of gags - sometimes they take a long time, sometimes they are done very poorly. I forced it to be redone a couple of times. Plus there are huge queues in the centers.
    • Nikolay, Tyumen. Not a bad option for our roads. Good dynamics and consumption - 14.5-15 liters on average. But there is still one drawback - in cold weather, the headlight washers do not turn back on. The services explain this by saying that water could have gotten in. But, as for me, cars at this price should not have such things. And in general the service is bad. It is simply impossible to know anything specifically. I took a 2009 car with a 3.6 liter engine.

    Audi Q7 1st generation

The first generation Audi Q7 cars were equipped with both diesel and gasoline engines. Diesel engines: volume 3.0 l (power 204, 233, 240, 245 hp), volume 4.2 l (power 326 and 340 hp), volume 6.0 l (power 500 hp). Gasoline engines: volume 3.0 l (power 272 and 333 hp), volume 3.6 l (power 280 hp), volume 4.2 l (power 350 hp).

Reviews about the consumption of the Audi Q7 I

    • Nikolay, Samara. Hello, I have an Audi Q7 with a 3.0 l diesel engine, automatic transmission, produced in 2007. The car was not new, the mileage was 150 thousand km. In principle, I like the car. There are a few things that need to be worked on, for example the sound insulation is not very good. Fuel consumption is quite high, considering that it is a diesel engine: from 8 to 15 liters.
    • Igor, Moscow. During my ownership of the Audi, it did not cause any trouble at all; replacing consumables does not count. I really like the 4.2 turbodiesel engine; I don’t think consumption of up to 14 liters in the city is high. On the highway it takes up to 9 liters. Of course, the car is large, sometimes difficult in a metropolis, but this is compensated by quality.
    • Ivan, Perm. Audi Q7 2008, 3.6 liter, manual. A very good car, controlled and fast. The suspension falls a little short and is rather weak. And the service leaves much to be desired. Otherwise, everything is fine. Gasoline consumption is 10-11 liters on a country highway and about 17 liters in the city.
    • Roman, Peter. After several years of operation, problems began to appear, and the further they went, the more, although at first everything was fine. Repairing climate control takes a lot of money, and there are also problems with the suspension. The car was produced in 2012, the 3.0 engine consumes from 8 to 14 liters of diesel fuel.
    • Peter, Kalinovo. I bought the 2010 Audi Q7 new, I really liked the appearance, and when I took it for a ride, I was surprised at how easy it was to drive, considering the size of the car. The suspension is beautiful, holes, cracks, and “lying” ones do not exist for me. Of course, the service is not cheap, but it is of high quality. A 3.0 liter petrol engine consumes 9-15 liters of petrol.
    • Egor, Bologoe. My 2008 Audi Q7 makes me happy from the first meeting. Powerful, dynamic, excellent acceleration. The sound of the engine is a separate issue, you just enjoy it. The 3.6 liter engine with automatic transmission consumes up to 15 liters of fuel. Sometimes there are problems with the computer.
    • Vladimir, Zelenograd. I am dissatisfied with the purchase, after a year and a half of torment, I finally sold it. I had a 2010 Audi Q7, 4.2, AT. Something was breaking all the time, first in small ways, then the light bulbs burned out, then the wipers failed. Then more serious problems appeared - engine leaks that never went away. And the consumption is high for me: on average - 16 liters of gasoline.
    • Nikita, Moscow. I am the owner of an Audi Q7 2010, 3.6 petrol engine, automatic. The car would deserve an “excellent” rating if it weren’t for problems with the on-board computer, which often turns off or malfunctions. And fuel consumption is quite normal - highway - 10-11 liters, city - 18-19 liters.
    • Andrey, Saratov. I didn’t buy a new car, it’s already 4 years old, but all the indicators are excellent: it’s stable on the road, there are practically no breakdowns, but I don’t like the form of maintenance during scheduled maintenance. Audi Q7 built in 2009, consumption is about 15 liters of gasoline.
    • Alexey, Tver. Audi Q7 with a 4.2 l diesel engine, automatic transmission, 2008. It is not for nothing that this engine is considered one of the strongest - an ideal solution for this car. It rides confidently on the road, the stability both in a straight line and in corners is ideal. There were some breakdowns, but not major ones. I like the consumption: on average 9-10 liters.
    • Oleg, St. Petersburg. I have an Audi Q7 2009, 4.2 engine, automatic transmission. This is the perfect car for my family. We travel very often and far, and there are no problems with breakdowns. But it could have been cheaper. In terms of gasoline consumption, Audi is not the most economical: it consumes from 11 to 20 liters of gasoline.

    Audi Q7 4.2 AT

    Information from the manufacturer

Just like the 3.0-liter, the 4.2-liter engine is available in two versions - gasoline and diesel. The power of such units is 350 hp. and 326 hp, and fuel consumption per hundred km is 19.5-14.9 liters in the city and 10.2-8.9 liters on the highway, respectively.

    Owners about consumption

    • Sergey, St. Petersburg. The car lasted literally for a year and a half, after which I sold it (2009 model, 4.2 AT engine, restyling). From the very beginning there were some small problems. Either sensors, or light bulbs, or wipers. Later the engine started leaking. Nowhere could this problem be resolved. The car, of course, is good to drive and the quattro system works, but the engines are weak. In addition, their consumption is high. On average 15-16 liters.
    • Dmitry, Kaluga. The whole time there were no problems at all. Consumables only. Traveled almost 100 thousand km. Turbodiesel 4.1 operates at a high level. Consumption is low - 15 liters in the city and 9 liters on the highway. The service is also good, everything is fast and high quality. The only negative is that the car is too big for the city. And everything is fine.
    • Ivan, Lvov. Audi Q7 4.2 AT 2008 Great car. Our whole family has been riding for a long time and almost every day. Expenditure goes only on scheduled maintenance, and although maintenance is not the cheapest, such a machine requires expenses. As for gluttony, it eats well - 21 liters in the city and 11 liters on the highway. I ran into a problem - I can’t adjust the steering wheel so that it doesn’t cover the indicator display.
    • Alexey, Moscow. I only have a bad impression of Audi. Before Q7 there was A6 and problems with it were through the roof. Same thing with this one - I took a 2007 car with a 4.2 liter petrol engine. Until the end of the warranty everything was fine, later there was a breakdown after a breakdown. Problems with cylinder brains and connecting rods. Total fuel consumption is 17.5 liters.
    • Alexander, Orel. Audi Q7 4.2d AT 2008. It's a good car, with an excellent engine. Diesel 4.2 is recognized as one of the most powerful. I make the most of it. The car holds the road at speed perfectly. Consumes about 9.5-10 liters on average. After the purchase, the air conditioner immediately began to malfunction; the cold was blowing very badly. Later, the sensors and the windshield washer motor failed when changing lanes.
