Lada x rey fuel consumption

Now it is difficult to establish whether the release of the Lada X-Ray in 2021 with a 1.8-liter engine was a previously planned move by the AvtoVAZ developers. Or the reason for this was their quick response to consumer requests, when immediately after the appearance of the first compact crossover model at the end of 2015, car enthusiasts expressed complaints about the five-door hatchback with a 1.6-liter engine.

In addition to the low engine power, there were complaints about the small diameter of the wheels, glitches of the robotic gearbox and the absence of a button to disable the towing control system, as well as the fact that the model has gasoline consumption disproportionate to the volume and power of the engine.

Therefore, the new crossover model has an engine of 122 horsepower, in contrast to the previous one of 106 horsepower. p., mechanical gearbox type, 17-inch wheels and has the ability to disable towing control. The basis of this car is the Renault Sandero, but the exterior design and interior are original, as is the suspension (it has been modernized), as well as the steering.

Characteristics of Lada Vesta - what they hope for in 2021

In 2021, the high-clearance Lada X-Ray appeared with the addition of “Cross”, but a release with a Nissan engine of 1.6 liters and 114 hp appeared. With. temporarily stopped.

Specified fuel consumption of Lada X-Ray versions

For the user, it is not so much the passport, but the real fuel consumption x Rey that is important, but to understand why a car’s fuel consumption depends and to compare with real consumption, you should know the data from the technical documentation:

  • Lada X-Ray (1.6 l., 106 hp.) - 7.5 liters per 100 km;
  • intermediate Lada X-Ray with a Nissan engine (1.6 liters, 114 hp) – 6.9 liters;
  • Lada X-Ray version (1.8 l., 122 hp.) - 7.1 liters per hundred km.

Based on the technical characteristics, we have the highest fuel consumption for the first version of the crossover, and the lowest for a car with a Nissan engine. These parameters were established as a result of laboratory studies and therefore cannot be considered a real operating standard, but serve only as comparative indicators. It is quite obvious that the actual fuel consumption data is higher than what the manufacturer indicates in the car’s passport.

Lada X Rey - real fuel consumption

The new car model produced by the Russian concern AvtoVAZ, the Lada X-Ray, is produced in three engine configurations, designed both for lovers of powerful cars with high speed characteristics and good cross-country ability, and for those who prefer economical cars with moderate power capabilities.

All motors installed on X-Ray, regardless of power and individual characteristics, meet the requirements of European environmental standards.

When choosing a car, fuel consumption is one of the first places in importance and is not always directly dependent on engine power. At the same time, factory fuel consumption figures are very approximate and in practice may differ from the true ones in both directions, since engine fuel consumption depends not only on the internal combustion engine model, but also on the operating conditions of the unit, as well as individual driving style. Nevertheless, we will list and consider all the engines installed on the Lada X-Ray in increasing order of their power and give an assessment of their “gluttony”.

Gasoline consumption in real conditions

When driving a car, fuel is consumed inconsistently, and this variability depends not only on road and climatic conditions, but also to a large extent on the qualifications of the driver. If we take real indicators of possible fuel savings as 100 percent, then according to driver reviews:

  • Fuel consumption is 60 percent dependent on the driver's driving style;
  • by 15 percent of the air conditioner operating mode;
  • 12 percent from driving with an insufficiently warmed up engine;
  • by 5 percent when driving with the lights on;
  • by 4 percent when driving with underinflated or wide tires;
  • by 4 percent when the interior windows are open at speeds above 50 km/h.

From the above it is clear what the driver needs to pay attention to in order to use the fuel resource most efficiently and economically.

Factory data

Any motorist knows that relying solely on information provided by the factory is a thankless task. After all, these figures are calculated in laboratories, where reference operating conditions are taken as the initial data. In particular, AvtoVAZ has adopted the parameters defined by UNECE standards No. 101R01.

According to this document, X Ray's appetite is (depending on the engine and transmission):

Engine and gearbox1.6 l. 106 l. With. MT5 1.6 l. 110 l. With. MT5 1.8 l. 122 l. With. AMT5
City mode9.3 l.8.9 l.8.6 l.
Highway5.9 l.5.6 l.5.8 l.
Mixed cycle7.2 l.6.8 l.6.8 l.

As you can see, the numbers are very attractive, but many would argue that such conditions almost never occur in real life, or rather, do not occur at all. In rare cases, the true consumption actually coincides with the declared one, or turns out to be less. In most situations it is slightly higher. In addition, driving is influenced by many factors that are not taken into account when compiling tabular data. It’s all the more interesting to analyze the reviews and find out the true appetite of the hatchback.

The dashboard of the car features a very informative fuel gauge.

What is the real average fuel consumption of the Lada X-Ray?

Long-distance test drive data (mileage 500 km on Russian roads, both in the city and outside it). In the run-in mode, the Lada X-Ray hatchback with a 1.8-liter power plant showed:

  • average consumption was 13.1 liters per hundred kilometers;
  • outside city streets the average consumption was 7.5, and on city streets - 14 liters;
  • the highest consumption on the highway was 9.1 liters;
  • the lowest consumption on the highway was 6.5 liters;
  • The minimum consumption in city-highway driving mode is 9.5 liters.

When driving after break-in, fuel consumption x rey may be lower, up to 10 percent of the test drive data.

Fuel consumption Lada XRAY

People made cars different, traffic jams made them equal!

Lada Xray is the first crossover to come off the assembly lines of AvtoVAZ. The concept was shown at a car exhibition in Moscow in 2012. Serial production began only in 2015.

A year later, concepts for future modifications of the model were shown. These are the Sport and Cross versions, which are distinguished by more technologically advanced suspensions, transmissions and engines.

Official data (l/100 km)

EngineConsumption (city)Consumption (highway)Flow (mixed)
1.6 MT 106 hp (Mechanics) 9.35.97.2
1.6 MT 110 hp (Mechanics) 8.95.66.8
1.8 MT 122 hp (Mechanics) 9.35.87.1
1.8 AMT 122 hp (robot) 8.65.86.8

Now the Lada X-ray is equipped with two gasoline engines. The main unit is 1.6 liters, which can develop power up to 106 horsepower. It is available only with a manual transmission operating in five modes. Fuel consumption per 100 km for this configuration is 9 liters in the city and 6 liters on the highway.

The second engine is 1.8 liters. Its peak power is 122 horsepower. A choice of gearbox is already available here: either a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic. Gasoline consumption here is at 7 liters.

Owner reviews

“I was greatly impressed by our first crossover. When I first saw it, I realized that I would definitely buy it. It was clearly evident that AvtoVAZ had finally come to its senses and started producing normal cars. The appearance is simply gorgeous; no other model has ever had anything like this. The interior is also well equipped, only the materials used are cheap, but they are assembled with high quality. The engine is small, but its power is enough for quiet city driving and for trips into nature. You definitely shouldn’t go off-road, since the model does not have off-road qualities. However, on our roads the car feels more or less normal. The high seating position and long suspension travel absorb all the inconvenience from hitting potholes and bumps. The only thing I didn't like was the fuel consumption. I spend up to 13 liters in the city, which is a lot for such an engine,” writes Nikolai from Smolensk.

“I bought the car from the dealership in the first days of sales. I have long wanted a small crossover for myself, but the new Lada looked decent and was cheap. And the technical characteristics were not the worst. Now I drive it almost every day, usually for work, but sometimes I ride to other cities. I like its handling and stability. You can safely take your hands off the steering wheel and enjoy the ride in a straight line. Sometimes the engine power is not enough, especially when you have to drive on country roads. But on a flat road surface everything is fine. The actual consumption of the model is about 10 liters,” said Vasily from Perm about the car.

“I was looking forward to the start of Lada Xray sales. She impressed me very much at the presentation. I was especially impressed by the design, which can compete in beauty even with foreign cars. Technical data is also not bad, but only for smooth roads. Once I tried to drive along a country road after it rained, but I got so stuck that I couldn’t get out myself. Although cars were quietly passing in the same place. But the suspension is excellent, the pits are not felt at all. It is a pity that the consumption does not correspond to the passport values. For me it reaches 14 liters in the city and 10 on the highway,” notes Ruslan from Ufa.

“I was very disappointed in the car. When it first came out, I had high hopes for it, because I had long wanted a new car, just a crossover, but I didn’t have the money for a foreign car. So I bought our model. The only pluses here are the design and build quality of the interior. Everything else is quiet horror. The car does not drive on the highway at all; if the engine somehow manages to cope with the city, then it is clearly difficult for it to cope with the highway speed limit. You can’t leave the road at all, otherwise you won’t get out at all. And most of all I’m not satisfied with the consumption, which is an unrealistic 15 liters,” wrote Oleg from St. Petersburg.

“I used the car for several months when a friend gave it to me while he was in the army. I can say for sure that if this car had appeared on our market at the beginning of the century, there would have been no doubt at all that we can make cars. Everything is excellent here - from design to dynamic characteristics. The car drives briskly in the city, and thanks to its small size it maneuvers well in traffic jams. There is a lot of space inside, you can safely go for a ride in nature and take all the necessary things with you. The engine, however, is rather weak for those places where there are no smooth roads. And it consumes a lot of fuel, I definitely used 12 liters,” says Arseniy from Volgograd.

“I’ve only been using the car for two months, but I already have so many pleasant impressions that I could write a book. I took it because I finally understood what good cars our automaker can make. Here, most of the car is made to last, especially the interior, which does not creak and has excellent sound insulation. The engine, although small, pulls the car vigorously along the highway and city roads. Consumption, like all Lada cars, is about 10 liters,” Stepan from Cheboksary left this review.

New product in the domestic auto industry

The presentation of the car took place in 2021. Lada Xray is a compact and at the same time roomy modern hatchback. The model was created thanks to the cooperation of the Renault-Nissan alliance and VAZ.

X-ray is a huge breakthrough for the domestic manufacturer, which marked the emergence of new cars - powerful, high-quality, keeping up with the times. A group of VAZ designers, led by Steve Mattin, worked on the design of the car.

EngineConsumption (highway)Consumption (city)Consumption (mixed cycle)
1.6i 106MT5.9 l/100 km9.3 l/100 km7.5 l/100 km
5.8 l/100 km8.6 l/100 km6.9 l/100 km
7.1 l/100 km

Note that some internal and external elements of the Xray were borrowed from the predecessor model of the Xray - Lada Vesta. As for the electronics and safety systems, a lot of things were taken from the Renault-Nissan alliance. The plastic that is used in the structure of the body and, in fact, its upper part is made in Tolyatti. The car also has original VAZ elements - there are about half a thousand of them.

Of course, the high quality of all elements forces the manufacturer to increase its pricing policy. The price of the Lada X Ray is at least 12 thousand dollars.

Thanks to the unsurpassed quality and many innovations embodied by the domestic manufacturer in the new brand of car, it received quite a lot of good reviews on forums, where new owners also share photos of their “swallow,” which suggests that the designers’ efforts were not in vain.
