Mitsubishi Outlander 2021 2022

Where is Mitsubishi Outlander assembled?

Mitsubishi Outlander is a mid-size crossover. The Japanese corporation has been producing it since 2001, and during this time the car has undergone several restyling procedures, although a fundamental change occurred only in 2005. Initially, the model was based on the ASX concept, and was called Airtrek.

This name was chosen because it most accurately describes the purpose of the car: “to transport passengers in comfort over long distances” and “to fly like a bird.” The current name Outlander means "travel to distant lands in search of adventure."

The Japanese manufacturer did not even expect that the Mitsubishi Outlander would become so popular. Consumers already know what excellent qualities this crossover is endowed with, but not everyone knows where the Mitsubishi Outlander is assembled. Let us take a look at where this car is made, where it is produced and where it comes from in our market.

Where are Mitsubishi cars assembled?

The Mitsubishi company is one of the world-famous automobile brands, the model range of which is actively and successfully sold in many countries, including the Russian Federation.

At the same time, not all car enthusiasts know about the country of origin of Mitsubishi and where certain models are assembled.

To a greater extent, motorists are interested in assembly for the domestic market. But this does not prevent us from covering a wider geography of the company’s presence, studying existing factories and considering individual models.

Where is the Mitsubishi Outlander made?

The first generation of Mitsubishi Outlander was assembled exclusively in Japan. The factories are located in Okazaki, Aichi, Kurashiki and Okayama provinces. Further, production was established in the Philippines in the cities of Quinta and Rizal.

At that time, the car was supplied to our market from Japan. By the way, there were practically no complaints about the build quality. But, as you know, our roads are slightly different from European ones, therefore, falling into several deep holes at full speed could lead to problems with the steering. Also, such a long transfer also affected the cost of the model.

Where is Mitsubishi Outlander assembled for Russia?

Since 2005, after the release of the second generation of the Mitsubishi Outlander model, it has been assembled for our market at the plant in Kaluga. Production is established at the official Mitsubishi plant. Of course, until 2012, cars of our production occupied only 10% of the total number in our showrooms. In 2015, this figure increased to 30%.

In Kaluga, engineers make some of the body and interior parts themselves. The remaining parts are produced by the same Japanese. Our craftsmen simply assemble them and fasten them on the conveyor. The car is immediately processed and tested at the local track.

In 2014, the car went through another stage of restyling. Changes were also made to the automobile plan. And today, everyone who assembles a Mitsubishi Outlander does so taking into account the restyling procedures.

Where is Mitsubishi Outlander assembled?

The mid-size crossover Mitsubishi Outlander began production by the Mitsubishi Corporation in 2001. This car is a front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive SUV belonging to the “K1” segment. There was a choice of a 2-liter “4G63” engine and a 2.4-liter “4G64” unit, equipped with a 4-speed semi-automatic transmission. A year after the start of mass production, a more powerful 2-liter power unit from the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution #8212 “4G63T” began to be installed on the Mitsubishi Outlander.

Mitsubishi Outlander

In 2005, the 2nd generation Outlander was introduced to the world consumer, based on the latest GS platform and having several different engines, which are rebranded options from Peugeot 4007, Citro?n C-Crosser, PSA Peugeot Citro ?n" and "Volkswagen".

Many of our compatriots are interested in where the Mitsubishi Outlander is assembled for distribution on the Russian automobile market. Outlander comes to Russia and former allied countries from automobile factories located in Japan. Recently, Mitsubishi Outlander has been assembled for our market at the joint venture PSA Peugeot Citroen and Mitsubishi Motors located in Kaluga.

The premiere of the 3rd generation Mitsubishi Outlander took place in the spring of the year at the Geneva Motor Show. There is practically no difference in the possibility of transforming the interior between the new and previous generation of cars; it can also be 5- or 7-seater, but at the same time there is more space for transporting luggage. But the exterior of the updated Outlander has noticeably changed.

Regarding the equipment of the 3rd generation SUV, it is equipped with powerful xenon “WildeVision” headlights, cruise control and various systems that help the driver while driving.

Our motorists are offered a choice of two types of gasoline engines from the MIVEC family: a 2.0 liter with 150 horsepower and a 2.4 liter with 170 horsepower. Depending on the model configuration and engine type, it may be equipped with the “Auto Stop Go” function. Both power units work with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Dimensions and wheelbase were left unchanged.

Quality of Russian assembly of Mitsubishi Outlander

Until last year, all the complaints were about the Russian assembly of the Mitsubishi Outlander.

They were aimed at poor suspension and insufficient sound insulation. But, after restyling in 2014, it allowed me to forget about such problems.

The only thing that the company has not changed is the interior design. Cheap plastic is everywhere here, and this does not make the owners happy at all. This material is hard, it creaks after several months of use and soon begins to peel.

Also, the disadvantage of Russian assembly is the lack of parts in stock. They have to wait several months. Therefore, servicing the Mitsubishi Outlander is quite expensive. But the security systems here are at the highest level. In the Euro NCAP test, the Russian-assembled car received five stars out of five. Out of 100%, the car received as many as 64.

Otherwise, the car is a very beautiful and high-quality work of Japanese engineers. And it doesn’t depend on where the Mitsubishi Outlander is assembled. The car is suitable for driving around the city and off-road. It is roomy and versatile for any buyer who leads an active lifestyle.

Japanese build quality

Until 2014, there were complaints from owners about the Russian-made Mitsubishi Outlander car. Basically, people were dissatisfied with poor quality sound insulation and poor suspension. But, after the updates carried out last year, such inconveniences were quickly forgotten. The interior of this SUV remains the same, trimmed with cheap plastic. Cheapness has never pleased buyers, and, unfortunately, this vehicle was no exception. After several months of use, cheap plastic parts make their presence felt.

Hard plastic begins to creak and irritate drivers and passengers. Manufacturers coated some interior elements with silver, but after a little time they begin to peel off. Also, we cannot help but recall the Russian Outlander car services. Car owners have to wait for several weeks for the delivery of parts for their car, and besides, the service is significantly expensive. Therefore, before you buy a “Japanese” for yourself, inquire at the showroom where the Mitsubishi Outlander is produced.

Where is Mitsubishi Outlander assembled?

Despite the fact that the history of the mid-size crossover Outlander from the Japanese concern Mitsubishi lasts more than 15 years, the popularity of this model has not decreased. Successful restyling of the model has increased the number of people wishing to purchase a stylish, comfortable car with many advantages. However, every consumer who wants to buy this car in our country wants to know where the Mitsubishi Outlander is assembled. Practice shows that the country of assembly allows us to judge the quality of the car, its durability, and the guarantee of the characteristics of the car declared by the consumer.

Where is the Mitsubishi Outlander 2021 assembled for Russia?

The third generation of the SUV was put on the assembly line in Kaluga. The 2021 model year Outlander is being assembled there for Russia. This reduces the final cost of the car for sale and wins the battle for the client. Russian Outlander models fell under the mandatory installation of the ERA-GLONASS security system. The complex will report the accident to the operational services.

Features of the Mitsubishi Outlander model

The very name of this crossover reflects the purpose of the car, which should fly “like a bird,” guaranteeing maximum comfort to each passenger. The designers of the Mitsubishi Outlander model managed to find ideal options for the technical equipment and interior of the car, which guaranteed the popularity of the car.

The Mitsubishi concern has many branches located on several continents. The Mitsubishi Outlander model in its first version was manufactured at car factories located in Japan, in the cities of Aichi, Okazaki, Okayama, Kurashiki. Later, production of the model was established in the Philippine branches in Rizal and Quinta.

At that time, these machines were supplied to the Russian market from Japan. Car owners had no complaints about the build quality of the car. But long-distance transportation of models had a negative impact on the cost. In addition, driving on our poor-quality road surfaces and hitting potholes at speed led to problems with the steering. The company had a need to modify the model, adapt it for the Russian market, taking into account the specifics of operation.

Production Mitsubishi Outlander

The second generation restyled model, developed taking into account the specifics of our conditions, is produced in the Kaluga branch of the company. Since that time, Russian car enthusiasts began to be interested in where Mitsubishi Outlander cars are assembled, since domestic manufacturers do not inspire trust. The question of whose assembly this car was made became the main one when purchasing it. Until 2012, every tenth car on the Russian market was assembled in Kaluga. In 2015-2016, every third new model of this car is a product of the Kaluga branch of Mitsubishi.

You shouldn’t be picky about a new car and scrupulously study where Mitsubishi Outlanders are assembled. The main components and parts are brought to the Kaluga Automobile Plant from Japan. Here only the final assembly is carried out, individual body parts are manufactured to ensure its reliability in the difficult conditions of our road surfaces.

In the past, there were complaints from car owners about the Kaluga assembly regarding poor-quality sound insulation and suspension. Two years ago, a restyling was carried out, which eliminated these problems. Today's models are ideally suited to their class and withstand heavy market competition.

Where is Mitsubishi Outlander assembled?

Updated, apparently specifically for the Russian market, Outlander

stuck somewhere in the middle. Its radiator grille has moved away from the Fuji Mountain concept, but it is far from the Jet Fight.

Rumor has it that the new front end layout compensates for 7% of drag. Well, maybe... You can read about the design features of Mitsubishi models on specialized forums. We will not focus on this now.

According to the official very vague version, the crossover “in the new season” received changes in suspension settings, noise insulation indicators, as well as in the variator cooling system. What exactly this means is not deciphered anywhere. Let's leave it as it is now.

In appearance, both bumpers were slightly adjusted, black wheel arch extensions appeared, emphasizing the off-road inclinations of the Japanese, as well as rear LED combination lights. For some versions, the function of heating the wiper area has become available.

Again, it became known from unofficial sources that the crossover has benefited from a flat floor and an enlarged trunk opening.

Promotional price for Mitsubishi Outlander

in the amount of 999,000 rubles remained. However, for this money you will only get a single-wheel drive version, which does not even have basic options such as music, air conditioning, ESP or heated mirrors. For a million-dollar car, this is some kind of tinny stuff! It is clear that these versions exist purely nominally. The human versions of the car have risen in price by 20-30 thousand rubles and start at 1.1 million rubles.

Hand on heart, it is worth noting that the car is a good idea. Controversial design, yes, some flaws in the engine belts - yes, but in general in this class the only alternative to the Japanese in terms of status, reliability and size is the Ford Kuga.

The staff of the plant, which was inaugurated in 2009, 25 km from Kaluga, numbered about 3,000 people before the crisis. A total of 546 million euros were invested in its construction and production setup. The owners of the authorized capital of PSMA Rus of 320 million euros are the French concern PSA (70%) and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (30%).

What is collected

But by an evil irony of fate, the French, the main owners of the Kaluga plant, relied on the assembly of C-segment cars - the very thing that the current crisis has crippled most mercilessly. Therefore, at the end of February, on the lines assembling Peugeot 408 and Citroen C4 sedans (until 2012, as we remember, Peugeot 4007 and Citroen C-Crosser were assembled here, and until last year also Mitsubishi Pajero Sport), as well as the Mitsubishi Outlander crossover were listed only 1381 employees. The rest were either given notice of reduction with five salaries, or did not renew their contracts, Yoshia Inamori, deputy general director of PSMA Rus, told us. According to him, if previously there were much more temporarily hired employees in percentage terms, now the advantage is not in their favor. And since the situation on the SUV market is little better, mainly the French lines of the conveyor were empty.

The consequences of optimization at PSMA Rus are visible to the naked eye in the factory parking lot. If a couple of years ago finding a place here was problematic, now it’s more than enough. On Friday it’s completely deserted here - management recently announced a transition to a four-day work week while maintaining production in two shifts.

To describe the scale of the disaster, I will give the following statistics: the estimated productivity of the Kaluga plant is 125 thousand cars per year, while in five years - from 2010 to 2015 - only 104 thousand French and Japanese cars left local workshops. They were assembled mainly using the CKD (small-knot assembly) method from imported parts and kits - more than 77 thousand cars. Since 2012, the plant and adjacent workshops, as well as contractors (18 companies in total), have gradually mastered production from bumpers, seats and glass to wiring and tires. According to Inamori-san, according to the signed Resolution 166, the company was obliged to increase localization to 20% by the beginning of this year. However, at the moment this figure is already 30% - at this level, taxes on the import of components are zeroed out.

There is, however, an important nuance here: more than 90% of the suppliers that provide Russian parts to PSMA Rus are foreign companies. This means that the plant is still dependent on imports, which means it is susceptible to the detrimental effects of the weak ruble exchange rate

.

However, some import substitution is still taking place. This applies to leadership positions. There are only two foreign managers left in the French direction - the others were replaced by Russians. The Japanese assembly line is a little more complicated, explains Yoshia Inamori. Since the production system here is originally Japanese, 16 specialists were invited to the enterprise, replacing whom is very problematic for a number of reasons.

How to collect

This was followed by a tour of the assembly line. PSMA Rus production workshops consist of three lines - welding, painting and assembly. Moreover, welding and assembly are divided into lines - for the C-segment and SUV. All cars produced in Kaluga are painted on the same line.

The production process begins with welding of body parts coming from the nearby Gestamp-Severstal-Kaluga. Operators first manually weld them at control points in order to then transfer them to the robot line, where, as the factory workers themselves call it, the “dance” takes place. Of the 2,000 welding points, 1,300 are carried out by robots. After the “dance” with the main body panels, the future car enters the stage of assembling attached parts - doors and hood, then the first quality control takes place. Female operators manually feel the surfaces for scratches or deformations, and use instruments to check the geometry of the body. If a defect is detected, the assembled product is sent for revision.

If everything is in order, the bare body is driven onto the elevator on special trolleys and sent through the labyrinths to the painting shop. We were unable to get into it: according to the guides accompanying us, the safety requirements and quality control here are too high. However, we learned that out of the 20 hours required for the full assembly cycle of one Outlander, the car spends nine hours in the paint shop, where about 6 kg of various liquids are applied to it. During this time, they not only have time to paint it, but also dry it with subsequent inspection.

After passing through two laboratories - destructive control and metrology, where the next control of the geometry of the body and the assembly of its panels is carried out, we head together with the future cars to the assembly shop, where on an area of 60 thousand square meters. m, 150 people are involved in one shift. It all starts with the interior finishing - laying out the wiring and installing interior elements (dashboards, airbags, etc.) and interior trim. By the way, at this stage the car doors are pre-dismantled and sent to a separate assembly line. Since each part has its own passport, it will return a little later to its original place.

Having gradually passed a 400-meter section and having already acquired external parts, such as suspensions and an exhaust system, the Outlander finds itself at the “wedding” place - here the body is fed from above to the engine waiting for it below. Towards the end of the conveyor line, the rear and side windows are glued into the rear, seats appear in the cabin, and wheels are screwed onto the hubs. And everything ends with another quality control. At this stage, in particular, the wheel adjustment angles are checked, and the tightness of the body is checked under a special shower. Within two minutes, water is supplied to the car at different angles. If no problems are found, then it is sent to a test site, where several kilometers of various surfaces await it - crushed stone, comb, artificial bumps, descents and ascents, acceleration and braking zones. If assembly flaws surface at this stage, the car goes to the so-called retouching zone, where it is brought to marketable condition.

About 40% of the personnel involved in the assembly of the Mitsubishi Outlander are women. Keep this in mind when, for the sake of a nice word, you want to speak out about “crooked hands.”

Will Pajero Sport become “Russian”

Moving from one workshop to another, along the way we find an idle line. Until last year, the retired second generation Mitsubishi Pajero Sport was assembled on it. This summer, our country is expecting its successor, which at first will be imported from a factory in Thailand. The question of whether the assembly of the newcomer will be established in Kaluga remains open. In many ways, the answer will come from the demand for this rogue. However, be that as it may, the conveyor belt itself is ready to welcome him for a visit.

Where are Mitsubishi cars assembled?

Mitsubishi Motors is the world's largest automaker, headquartered in Tokyo, the capital of Japan. In 2011, Mitsubishi Motors became the sixth largest Japanese automaker and the sixteenth largest automobile manufacturer in the world. But in fact, Mitsubishi Motors is just part of a very large holding company, Mitsubishi Corporation, which includes quite a few different areas of production, including aircraft.

Where are Mitsubishi cars assembled? For a long time it was the official importer of cars of this brand to Russia; You have probably seen more than once on the back of Mitsubishi cars, along with the model name, there is also a nameplate with the inscription “Rolf” - it was this company (more precisely, a group of companies) that was involved in the official import of cars from Japanese factories into Russia - today it is .

Meanwhile, models for Russia are produced at the following company plants:

  • Nagoya Plant , Okazaki city, Aichi Prefecture, Japan - this is one of the largest automobile plants of the Mitsubishi corporation and, in fact, supplies the whole world with cars of this brand - this is where the vast majority of cars for the Russian Federation are assembled.

So, where are specific Mitsubishi car models assembled?

Where is Mitsubishi Lancer assembled?

One of the most purchased Mitsubishi models in Russia, which has gained popularity due to its aggressive appearance, like its main competitor - the Toyota Corolla - is a “purebred” Japanese and is assembled in the south of Japan, one might say, on a neighboring assembly line with right-hand drive versions of the model. At the same time, both simple Lancers and the dream of young people - Lancer Evolution - are assembled at this plant. However, the model does not come to Russia with such a strong increase in price as the same competitor of the model - Corolla, and the quality of Lancer is superior to many other competitors of the model in this price segment.

Where is Mitsubishi ASX assembled?

Another one of the most popular models in our country, but now as a compact crossover at an affordable price, the Mitsubishi ASX is no longer quite Japanese. The model, in addition to its native place of production, is also assembled in the USA at a plant in Illinois. And from Japan we receive models assembled at the Nagoya plant in Okazaki. It is difficult to say which car production is more numerous in our country: Japanese or American, however, it is believed that the latter are no worse than those made in Asia and even in some ways superior to the “purebred” Japanese in terms of suspension - occasionally there are complaints about squeaking in the elements suspension in the Japanese-made Mitsubishi ASX, which is practically absent in American copies of the car.

It should also be noted that ASX models began to be produced in the USA after restyling in 2012 (2013 model year) - until that moment, all Mitsubishis of this model came to us from Japan.

Where is Mitsubishi Outlander assembled?

And here is the first model of the automaker, which is produced in our country - the Mitsubishi Outlander is produced at the PSMA Rus Kaluga Automobile Plant in Russia. However, it will be possible to take a Russian-assembled model from more or less recent years - Outlander began to be produced in our country at the end of 2012 and, disassembled, they began to be delivered to Russia in their third restyled generation.

Where are Mitsubishi cars sold in Russia assembled?

Naturally, potential buyers of Mitsubishi family cars are interested not only in the organization of their import and sales.
Perhaps, customers are mainly concerned about the place of their production, that is, the question of where Mitsubishi is assembled for the Russian market. Let's consider this issue in more detail.

1. The most significant part of the total number of Mitsubishi family cars sold in Russia is produced directly in Japan at the two largest car factories of this corporation:

Nagoya Plant in Okazaki

Mizushima Plant in Kurashiki

2. Some of the cars imported to Russia are assembled at a plant in the city of Normal, Illinois, USA. The plant is a joint venture between Mitsubishi and Chrysler, focused on supplying their products worldwide. Since 1991, the plant has been 100 percent Japanese owned.

This is where the popular ASX crossovers come to our market. And as users say, these machines are not only not inferior to their counterparts assembled in Japan, but also significantly superior in quality.

3. A certain proportion of Mitsubishi Pajero model cars from 2008 to 2012 were assembled in Thailand. Moreover, according to a number of reviews, the quality of these machines was even higher than those assembled in Japan. However, the company was closed after the devastating floods that hit Thailand in 2012.

4. In 2010, in Russia, in the city of Kaluga, a joint venture between Mitsubishi (30% of shares) and the French companies Peugeot and Citroen (70%), called Peugeot Citroën Mitsubishi Automotive Rus (PSMA Rus), was put into operation.

Several models developed by Mitsubishi are assembled here, in particular the Outlander and Pajero SUVs. Moreover, after 2012, these models began to be supplied to Russian dealers only locally assembled. Even the Pajero Sport version with reinforced engines and a completely different suspension has been produced for Russia only in Kaluga since 2013.

According to reviews from experts and buyers, these products are not inferior in quality to Japanese cars of the same name due to the plant’s strict adherence to technological discipline and assembly quality control measures. The conveyor is organized according to the large-unit principle and the vast majority of components come from Japan. Parts of domestic origin are used only in double-glazed windows and the exhaust system.

Thus, all cars of the Japanese concern for the Russian market, except for the Mitsubishi Outlander and Mitsubishi Pajero models produced after 2012, are guaranteed to be manufactured in Japan, Thailand or the USA.

In Japan, the company's first electric vehicle, called the Mitsubishi I-Miev, is also produced at the Kuroshiki plant, launched in 2012.

Mitsubishi Outlander 2021: new model, photo, price

The Japanese SUV received an original image developed by the company's designers. The update affected the front part. Among the changed elements.

  1. The radiator grille has a complex shape. The lower dark part extends onto the front bumper and forms a large air intake opening. The upper segment is lined with three horizontal stripes, the central one of which contains the company emblem (see photo).
  2. The elongated front optics have acquired LED filling already in the basic configuration. The chrome eyeliner of the headlights goes down where the round foglights are located.
  3. The updated bumper sports a silver central part protection that protects against scratches on off-road conditions.

Mitsubishi's profile has also changed. Features of the 2021 Outlander include the 2020 model year.

  1. Side glass line with chrome trim. Due to the straight upward sill, the crossover looks more dynamic.
  2. The sharp angle of the A-pillars is in harmony with the silver roof rails, and the fin antenna on the roof adds originality to the image.
  3. The Outlander side panels received elegant linings in the lower third of the doors, and an additional stiffening rib near the handles.
  4. Neat wheel arches with mudguards and dark plastic protection shelter 16-diameter alloy wheels. Rich configurations received 17 or 18-inch wheels.

The Outlander stern has acquired new elements. The rear bumper has been reconfigured, the side segments have additional headlight units, and brake lights with LED filling are located on the trunk door and side panels. The fifth door sports a chrome insert and a large stamping reserved for the license plate. The rear window improves visibility from the driver's seat, and there is a spoiler with an LED strip on top.

Where are Mitsubishi assembled?

It was designed to take its rightful place in the growing number of crossovers that combine a city SUV and a sports wagon. Outlander is the most optimal vehicle option for residents of modern big cities, since it can remain safe regardless of various circumstances and weather conditions on the road.

The Outlander features an original combination of sporty style and a touch of elegance, thanks to rear combination lamps, tubular roof rails and a rear spoiler with integrated brake light. The appearance of a high-speed car is created by the elongated shape of the body and transparent rear lights. The McPherson-type suspension used at the front, together with a multi-link at the rear, made it possible to give an almost “passenger-like” handling character with high stability in behavior at high speed.

Mitsubishi Outlander

The package consists of a 2-liter 136-horsepower or 2.4-liter 160-horsepower engine. The 2.4-liter engine is equipped with a special electronic system that changes valve timing and valve lift (MIVEC). It helps combine high torque and greater efficiency. At the same time, such an engine is equipped with a five-speed manual transmission or a well-proven sequential automatic transmission.

High safety for passengers in the Mitsubishi Outlander

retain good airbags and 3-point seat belts, as well as head restraints for the driver and all passengers. In addition, the youngest passengers will not be at risk thanks to the rear door locks and special child seat mountings.

Mitsubishi Outlander

Crossover Mitsubishi Outlander

Exactly the car you need for driving on city highways due to its excellent handling, cross-country ability and good forward visibility due to its high seating position, as well as providing increased comfort. The third row of seats can accommodate up to seven people, which, when folded, also allows for more luggage space. In addition, the redesigned interior and aggressive plastic side panels allow you to notice its luxurious design, which gives it a huge “plus” when choosing an SUV.

News about the slightly updated Mitsubishi Outlander crossover 2014

It was already posted on our website about a week ago.

For the first time, representatives of the official distributor and importer of Mitsubishi cars in Russia very politely asked to remove the information from the site. It seems that it was not approved by the “center” and everything will be officially explained and confirmed on May 12.

Well, okay, maybe some incredible know-how will be used there, and we are misleading people by publishing news reports based on information from unverified sources. Removed...

By and large, we were in for a bummer. No, information from the press service of MMS Rus

“I sent it today, everything is fine. Only the official data is actually no different from the old, unconfirmed ones. Moreover, the information sheet contains only 3 paragraphs, of which only one is relevant to the case.

If we were lazier, we would post the old version of the text on the site. As it now turns out, it is quite relevant. However, we love the reader and will not fall so low.

So, restyling of Mitsubishi Outlander-2014

As we wrote earlier, the Mitsubishi Outlander 2014

cannot be named. The same Chinese car manufacturers change the inside of their cars more from batch to batch than Mitsubishi does in their new generations of vehicles.

What changed? Previously, all Mitsubishi front end designs were based on the ideology of either Jet Fight (a prime example is the ASX model) or Fuji Mountain (an example of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport).

The assembly of Mitsubishi Outlander is carried out at different enterprises. Therefore, a potential buyer considering the opportunity to purchase this mid-size crossover is interested in which plant could have produced it. This question is also important for motorists choosing a car on the secondary market - a popular car is in demand even after several years of operation.

Where is Mitsubishi Outlander assembled?

The question of where Mitsubishi Outlander is assembled for Russia has become relevant since 2012. At this time, the car began to be produced in Kaluga. And now in Russian car dealerships you can find versions from the following enterprises:

  1. Factory in Kaluga. Produces approximately half of all models sold in the country.
  2. Nagoya Plant in Okazaki, Japan. One of the largest factories of the Mitsubishi Corporation, producing most of its products.
  3. Mizushima Plant. The second largest production volume is Mitsubishi's enterprise, also located in Japan.

For most other regions, assembly is carried out on the same assembly lines. Although Outlanders can also be supplied to Asian countries from the Philippines. Assembly for Ukraine is carried out at Japanese enterprises, although models from the Russian Federation can also be found on the secondary market.

Where is Mitsubishi Pajero assembled?

The popularity of the Pajero model, which is sold in dozens of countries around the world, has led to its production at several factories. SUVs enter the Russian market from the following enterprises:

  1. Nagoya Plant. The largest Japanese plant, where more Pajero are produced than elsewhere.
  2. Mizushima Plant. An enterprise where a huge number of SUVs of this brand are also assembled, including Pajero.
  3. PSA Rus in Kaluga.

The Russian enterprise is a joint project of companies from the Russian Federation, Japan and France. The plant has been operating for 8 years, and recently there have been virtually no complaints about the quality of its assembly. The assembly for Ukraine was carried out at the same plant, but in Ukrainian car dealerships you can only find new Pajero from Japan.

Assembly of previous versions of Mitsubishi Outlander

Until 2005, the car was supplied to the European and Russian markets only from Japan. However, to reduce the cost of the crossover, the assembly of the Mitsubishi Outlander was moved first to the United States and then to Russia. At the same time, American versions can no longer be found on the market - due to low demand for the Outlander, the plant in Illinois switched to producing other cars.

Some Mitsubishi models, including the Outlander, were assembled at the NedCar plant in the Netherlands. However, in 2012 the enterprise was closed. From now on, all European Outlanders can only be Japanese. Cars sold in Russia are also from Japan or Kaluga.

Build quality

On the territory of the Russian Federation it is almost impossible to find American and Dutch-assembled models, so their quality is not of particular importance for domestic motorists. Although buyers of such cars did not have any special complaints about the assembly and components. The difference between the versions produced at Japanese enterprises and the Kaluga plant is much more noticeable.

The most noticeable difference in quality between the Russian versions from Japan and Kaluga was until 2014. Owners of domestic Outlanders complained about poor suspension and ineffective interior sound insulation. After the release of the restyled version, there were fewer complaints - primarily due to the use of new technologies during the release of the car. The level of quality control has also increased, although shortcomings still remain. The disadvantage of the Russian assembly compared to the Japanese one is the use of low-quality plastic and fabric for interior trim. But the Kaluga Outlander is equipped with a full set of safety systems and received 5 out of 5 stars when tested according to the NCAP standard.
