Reinforced gas spring MegaPower VD for HATSAN 50-70-80-90 / Striker 1000 / Striker Edge [170 atm]

If you are interested in air shooting, you don’t have to immediately purchase an expensive weapon. Check out the Hatsan Striker Edge air rifle for good quality and impressive power for the price.

Many owners of this weapon speak very flatteringly about it. Our article will tell you about the features of this popular model.

A word about the manufacturer

The Turkish company Hatsan has long established itself in the arms market from the best side. The first thing that attracts a potential buyer's attention? – this is the relatively low cost of Khatsan rifles. But you shouldn’t take the brand’s products lightly - they are quite competitive both in their own and in the more expensive price segment.

Even after working for several years “for the name”, the brand maintains a loyal price level without skimping on quality. The rifles have no bells and whistles, but are easy to use, reliable, and durable.

Many shooting sports fans also note the recognizable style. A laconic and elegant design is typical for all models of Khatsan rifles.

The Hatsan Striker Edge air rifle embodies the best achievements of Turkish craftsmen. This weapon is often chosen by beginners, but it often accompanies the owner for years.

Part 2. Description of work SM.

Well, now let’s try not only to disassemble and reassemble everything as it was, but also to understand how it all works in principle. So, after the next shot we break the rifle. The cocking lever begins to move back and its special protrusion no longer holds the automatic safety rod, so it, under the action of its own spring, occupies the rearmost position. In this case, the long lower protrusion of the rod becomes opposite the axis of the trigger, preventing rotation of the trigger. The cocking lever, moving backward along the groove of the cylinder, acts on the protrusion bent at a right angle on the manual safety rod and cocks it. The manual safety spring, interacting with the protrusion on the rod, located under the longitudinal cutout for the axis of the upper sear, clearly fixes the “On safety” position. A similar blocking protrusion of the manual safety rod is located above the trigger axis on the other side, also preventing the trigger from turning on the axis. At the same time, when cocking, the piston with its groove sits on the tooth of the spring-loaded upper sear. Return the barrel to its original position. In this case, the lever with its protrusion pulls the automatic safety device forward. The locking tab no longer prevents the trigger from rotating. We press the manual safety button, and its blocking protrusion moves forward. The rifle is off safety. We press the trigger, which rotates on its axis. The trigger axis, located in the trigger, overcomes the force of the spring and raises the lower sear. At a certain moment, the lower sear rotates so much that its protrusion no longer prevents the lowering of the upper sear. The piston presses on the upper sear tooth. A torque appears. The upper sear, no longer restrained from turning by the lower one, lowers. The piston breaks off the upper sear tooth. A shot occurs. We release the trigger, and under the action of its spring it rotates on the axis until its front part rests against the axis of the lower sear. The released lower sear, under the action of its spring, will go down until it stops with the adjusting screw. In turn, the upper sear, no longer held by the piston, under the action of its own spring, will rise to the stop with its protrusion into the cylinder shelf. The cycle repeats.

Thank you for your patience! Whoever mastered it - well done!

Model features

The quality of the rifle is really high. Its weight is small. This was achieved thanks to the skeletal design of the butt.

Reviews of the Hatsan Striker Edge air rifle indicate good accuracy even when shooting at long distances. Thanks to the high speed of the bullet, this model also has quite good stopping power for its class. The manufacturer has equipped the weapon with a mount for optics, which the shooter can choose at his discretion.

Many owners speak positively about the gun's durability. There is no need to change it after a couple of years, even with frequent use. Of course, careful attitude and competent care play an important role here.

Commissioning

The buyer who ordered the Hatsan Striker Edge air rifle from the official manufacturer will receive it in a neat rectangular box.

He will also be provided with a guarantee.

But before you start shooting, you should carry out some manipulations to free the rifle from grease.

You can thoroughly clean the barrel, fire a few blank shots, then clean it again. If you dispose of the preservative in this manner, your warranty will remain valid.

There is another path that advanced users choose. It involves complete disassembly of the weapon, allowing you to clean the barrel, cuff and cylinder. In this case, the owner will lose the warranty. Most often, those who are confident in their own abilities and plan to make some tuning do this.

Purpose

This weapon is suitable for fans of shooting sports - a noble and elegant hobby that never goes out of fashion, develops accuracy and perseverance, teaches concentration, helps relieve stress and feel the joy of victory.

The Hatsan Striker Edge is an air rifle that you can take with you on a trip to the great outdoors. It will fit in the trunk of a car, and it’s not hard to carry it on your shoulder. But this weapon can be used not only to shoot at empty cans - it is quite suitable for hunting small game.

Specifications

The caliber of the Hatsan Striker Edge air rifle is 4.5 mm. It uses standard lead bullets, for example, from the manufacturer GAMO.

The barrel is made of steel and threaded. Its length is 450 mm. And the rifle itself has a length of 1095 mm.

The bullet leaves the muzzle at a speed of 305 m/s, which is very high for a pneumatic gun.

This weapon weighs 2.9 kg.

Few changes

Following the 1000s Striker model, the Hatsan Striker Age was released. The principle of operation and characteristics of both rifles are the same; they also have special protection against inadvertent firing and vibrate slightly when fired. But the latest model is lighter and more convenient, since its butt is not cast, but is made in the shape of a triangular frame.

The Hatsan 125 TH has not touched the classic plastic stock, but the barrel has been changed: it has become 50 mm longer. Thus, the manufacturer increased the power of the base model and reached an initial projectile speed of 380 m/s.

Disadvantages of the model

Having talked about such obvious advantages as low price, light weight, compact dimensions, high power and high shooting accuracy, it makes sense to mention those points that cause certain complaints. Some owners note that the Hatsan Striker Edge air rifle also has weak points.

Sometimes there is deformation and loosening of the mounting screws that connect the stock to the front. However, there are not many reviews describing this problem. Perhaps the problem is due to careless use and inept assembly and disassembly.

But the low rate of fire is a drawback that is beyond doubt. But should we consider it serious? Still, we are not talking about a combat machine gun or a professional rifle for biathlon, but about an amateur sports weapon.

Introducing the UF PRO Striker XT Gen1 Combat Pants

Today, the Striker XT BDU (Battle Dress Uniform) equipment set is one of the flagships in the uniform collection from the Slovenian brand UF PRO. The set, which so far has only three elements - a Striker XT Combat Jacket, a Striker XT Combat Shirt and Striker XT Combat Pants, is positioned by the manufacturer as a universal military-tactical set of clothing for performing combat missions in various conditions .

In 2020, the UF PRO brand brought to the market the second generation of military field kit - Striker XT Gen2 BDU, which remains relevant to this day. The updated kit, which is based on the 2014 version, according to the developers, has become stronger and more functional, reduced in overall weight and has a lower profile without any loss of freedom of movement and overall comfort. In this introductory review, we will focus directly on the first generation Striker XT Combat Pants, which have been produced since 2014. The Striker XT Gen.2 Combat Pants, according to information provided by the manufacturer, has a redesigned seat area, the back patch pockets have been replaced with slash pockets, and the hip pockets have become more low-profile. In addition, the profiled knees are now more anatomically correct, and the lower part of the legs is complemented by protective nylon inserts and hooks for attaching the legs to the laces. In all other respects, including the materials used, the UF PRO Striker XT Gen.2 Combat Pants version is the same as the base model presented in this review. For myself, I chose trousers in the combined solid color Brown Gray in size 34/32, but I think the size 34/34 option with a height of about 185 cm and a waist of 95 cm would suit me much better, taking into account the elastic waist zone and the possibility of adjusting the neck diameter according to bottom edge. The Striker XT Combat military field trousers in the Brown Gray colorway, judging by the information on the label, are made mainly of PolyCotton rip-stop blend material, which contains at least 67% polyester fibers and 33% cotton. The elastic material, commercially known as Schoeller-dynamic, consists of 92% polyamide and 8% elastane. The knees are made of denser and more durable polyamide material (in the new version this material is replaced by Cordura 500D). It is important to note that the main material in camouflage versions (PenCott GreenZone, SloCam) is NyCo (50% nylon, 50% cotton). The manufacturing quality of the presented Striker XT Combat trousers, despite the complexity and “overload” of the cut, is at an extremely high level. So far there are no complaints about the materials and fittings used (all zippers used are made by the YKK concern), everything is done almost flawlessly, including the seams, which are much more numerous than on ordinary BDU trousers. The stitch length is slightly more than 2 mm. When it comes to the fit of the Striker XT Combat trousers, they are probably the most functional military tactical trousers I have ever used and are truly impressive in their design. Another question is whether this functionality is needed in such quantities, everyone will have to answer independently, based on personal experience, preferences and the area of direct use. Personally, I found such advanced functionality to be unnecessarily bulky and not entirely convenient, mainly due to the number of pockets provided and their design. The design of the Striker XT Combat waistband features a slightly high waist at the back, elasticated side panels, and a zipper closure with two-way locks, a metal hook and a metal snap. In addition, on the inside of the trousers there is a zipper along the entire length of the waistband, which allows you to fasten an insulated lining made of Gore Windstopper material; the lining is sold separately. The wide belt loops have a two-layer design, the base layer has a standard design, while the outer layer has a snap closure, which allows you to relatively quickly remove/put on, for example, a weight belt. The knee area has a very original multi-layer design, which allows the user to independently determine the flexibility and level of protection of the knee joints, based on personal preferences and area of use. According to the manufacturer, the cut of the knee area was created taking into account the anatomy and the necessary basic ergonomics, as well as the structure of proprietary dampers, which are compatible with most UF PRO trousers. When choosing the size of trousers, it is also important to consider the position of the knees, since there is no possibility of adjusting the protection in height, as is provided, for example, in the Crye Precision trousers. At this stage, the UF PRO knee protection system consists of three elements, which are sold separately from the trousers and can be used either as a set or separately from each other. The basis of the protection system is formed by flexible and soft dampers made of 5 mm foam in mesh covers - UF PRO Flex-Soft Pads, or more rigid UF PRO Flex-SAS-TEC Pads, as well as plastic dampers UF PRO Solid Pad. In addition, in the Striker XT Combat trousers, the section into which the plastic shield should be inserted is covered with nylon on the outside, and supplemented with a softening lining made of voluminous mesh on the inside. In general, the protection system works as planned; when standing on the knee, the protection is located directly at the point of contact with the surface and, thanks to inserts made of elastic material, does not create any significant discomfort during movement. Installation or dismantling of the dampers is effortless; the wide damper is inserted through the valve with a zipper, and the plastic protection is inserted into the profiled section in the front part, which is secured with Velcro. The only problem is heat transfer, subjectively, the knees do not “breathe” well, there are valves with mesh lining in the upper part, but they are not enough when using all levels of protection. In addition to a large number of pockets, other design features of the military field trousers UF PRO Striker XT Gen1 Combat Pants include inserts made of elastic material in the waist and groin area, which have a positive effect on freedom of movement, despite the fact that the trousers are made in a rather fitted cut . In addition, in the lower part of the legs there are expansion zippers with a length of 18 cm and volume adjustment along the lower edge, which are implemented using an elastic cord, a plastic clip and a Velcro fastening strap. The design of the trousers includes a truly record number of pockets. I counted no less than 18 pieces, including two open pockets in each hip pocket. In addition to relatively classic back pockets (19 x 16 cm), a pair of patch calf pockets (14.5 x 16 cm), a pair of main slash pockets (24 x 17 cm) and two small vertical pockets at the front (5.5 x 14 cm), there are tiered hip pockets pockets (22 x 22 cm), which feature two access points to the contents, internal dividers (9 x 7 cm) and external open pockets with a rigid backing (7.5 x 14 cm). I will deliberately remain silent about the two locations of the two hidden pockets. One thing this amount may be a good thing, for me, based on the experience of using military tactical trousers of various cuts, is the extra overall weight (about 0.92 kg without protective dampers), a large number of seams, poor heat transfer, increased drying time, as well as general excessive and cumbersome functionality that I'm unlikely to use fully or often. And this, subjectively, is the main negative aspect of the Striker XT Combat design. At the same time, I liked the trousers both for the materials used, as well as for the high quality of production and painstaking attention to design details. The UF PRO Striker XT Gen1 Combat Pants presented in the review were ordered from the specialized online store Special Force Gear. Solid colors are priced at around $220, lining and protective dampers are not included. The availability of sizes, colors and the final cost of placing an order must be clarified with the store manager.

Tuning

Some owners who have good experience with weapons of this class recommend slightly tuning the Hatsan Striker Edge air rifle immediately after purchase. But if you do not have the necessary skills, there is no need to take risks - contact a professional gunsmith.

Replacing the spring with a gas one will significantly increase the service life of the weapon, increase power, reduce recoil, and have a positive effect on operating comfort.

It is also advisable to change the standard cuff periodically. And if you don’t trust the factory plastic plug, replace it with a metal one.

Advantages of three rifles

Having differences, all three rifles can become full-fledged competitors to weapons from other companies, as they have unique characteristics:

  • they have an adjustable release, that is, you can independently choose the maximum force of pressing it and its length. Using a screw, the required value is set; this system is called Quattro Trigger;
  • rifles are safe because they are equipped with a safety lock. But even if they are cocked, and there is an accidental blow or fall, there will be no shot, since the trigger reacts only to direct finger pressure;
  • a durable barrel made of steel with rifling, which increases the ability of a projectile to move along a given trajectory without deviations and hit the target accurately.
