Turkish air rifle Hatsan 125: price and technical characteristics

Briefly about the characteristics of Hatsan 125

Standard spring-piston pneumatics, intended for hunting and sport shooting, are available in three versions: wood, plastic and camouflage. Each of the modifications is attractive in its own way, but the technical performance of shooting is the same, regardless of the material on the stock. The bullets for the Hatsan 125 air rifle have a caliber of 4.5 mm. The length of the steel rifled barrel is 510 mm, the total length of the weapon is 1255 mm.

The initial speed at which the bullet leaves the barrel is 380 m/s. The minimum power is 7.5 J. It is worth mentioning here that in Russia any online weapons store sells pneumatics with higher power only with permission. Therefore, after purchase, many users increase the firing force by replacing the spring.

Other features of the model include an automatic safety, an adjustable trigger, the presence of an aiming bar and front sight, as well as a mount for additional sighting devices.

Air rifle Hatsan 125

The Hatsan 125 E air rifle differs from the classic version of the Hatsan 125. First of all, there is no possibility of installing an optical sight due to the lack of guides for installing the rail. Secondly, a cylinder with a smooth surface.

Pneumatic weapons from the Turkish concern Hatsan are generally in demand among shooting enthusiasts and professionals of this traditionally male activity. But there are certain models that shooters like more than others. One of them is undoubtedly the Hatsan 125 . This weapon belongs to the “magnum” class and is almost the best among its analogues. The initial bullet speed of the Hatsan 125 is, of course, its great advantage. The bullet leaves the muzzle at a speed of about three hundred and eighty meters per second. If a passenger car could move at such a speed, it would cover almost one thousand three hundred and seventy kilometers in one hour of steady driving. The rifle is cocked in the standard way - by breaking the barrel.

Like many other pneumatic models of this class, the Hatsan 125 is single-shot. The butt is made of polymer material. It is noteworthy that the engineers carefully worked out the shape of the butt and stock, so this gun fits perfectly in the hands, as if it was created by Mother Nature herself. The five hundred and ten millimeter long barrel is made of high quality steel, rifled. The internal diameter of the barrel is four and a half millimeters, and accordingly the caliber of the rifle has a similar indicator. The relevant ammunition for this model of pneumatics is a lead bullet, weighing about half a gram. But even in the loaded position, the rifle has a mass of no more than 3400.5 grams (taking into account 3.4 kg of rifle weight + 0.5 grams of bullet weight). (The information is relevant if the owner of the rifle has means for caring for the weapon, which is used for its intended purpose after each shooting session, because then there will be no dirt and small lead chips inside the barrel, which remain after shooting and have some weight.) The total length of this pneumatic model is equal to one and a quarter meters. Therefore, there will be no problems with storage; the rifle will easily fit in any closet.

It is recommended to store the weapon in a special case that will protect it from dust and other natural things. The Hatsan 125 is a fairly accurate weapon. If the shooter is good, then with this rifle he will be able to hit even the smallest target.

We evaluate the pros and cons

Khatsan 125, the price of which is 12 thousand rubles, is equipped with a front sight made of fiberglass light-accumulating fiber. Elastic inserts allow you to adjust the length of the stock. The butt plate is shock-absorbing, which softens recoil. And, of course, the most important advantage of the model is its high safety.

The disadvantages include the great effort required to break the trunk. In addition, the long and heavy barrel shifts the balance forward. Another disadvantage that may be an argument in favor of replacing the standard spring with a gas one: after a hundred or two shots, the iron spring “sits down,” reducing the firing force.

Using Hatsan 125 for hunting

But it cannot be said that game bird hunters will like all of the above. Yes, this weapon is capable of knocking out a bird at a distance of 150 meters. The bullet has enough strength. But hitting the target at such a distance is completely impossible. Alas and ah: when fired, the Hatsan 125 twitches noticeably down and up, as well as back and forth. Such unusual recoil does not allow the rifle to conduct aimed fire beyond 50 meters. Among other things, shaking literally “kills” inexpensive (under $100) optics. There is evidence that these modules cease to be regulated after approximately 200 salvos.

Carrying a rifle is hard and you can’t grip it comfortably. Its owners constantly complain that the IZH-27 (by no means a miniature double-barreled shotgun) is even significantly more “comfortable” in operation. The balance of the device is shifted forward (due to the weight of the barrel). This forces some experts to add lead to the hollow stock. For what? To avoid moments when the weapon literally “bites your nose.” Carrying around a few extra pounds for hours is not the best way to spend your leisure time.

Power working for destruction

What can Hatsan 125 air rifles do? At a minimum, shoot down feathered or small fluffy game from a distance. At the most, “kill” the optics. Using this model, it is easy to hit a bird from a distance of 50 meters or kill a hare from 30. At the same time, the high power of the shot causes the weapon to behave rather strangely. During shooting, the rifle moves forward, then backward, while jumping slightly in the vertical direction. This kind of recoil leads to the fact that cheap optics quickly become unusable, especially when shooting with an iron spring.

If you need a good air rifle for hunting, you will have to spend a little to upgrade it. To begin with, you should replace the iron spring with a gas one, and then please yourself and the rifle with high-quality optics. You will noticeably improve not only accuracy, but also shooting comfort.

Hatsan 125 modifications

All guns in this model range have almost the same design, while the design differences in the various models are minimal. All the differences between the Hatsan 125 rifles lie in their appearance. Among the air rifles in this series, the following popular models can be distinguished:

  1. The Hatsan 125 Sniper shotgun differs from the base model in that the shape of the stock has been changed, the butt height can be adjusted and there is an excellent optical sight.
  2. Hatsan 125 TH. The peculiarity of the rifle of this model is the presence of a pistol grip, which greatly increases the shooting comfort.
  3. The Hatsan 125 MW rifle is notable for its imitation wood stock.
  4. The Hatsan 125 Camo model is notable for the fact that the stock and butt of the rifle have a camouflage color.

Rifle Hatsan 90 TR

The Hatsan 90 TR air rifle is a relatively inexpensive but high-quality rifle model.
Refers to the spring-piston type of pneumatics. Optimal for recreational shooting at long distances, can be used for hunting small game. In terms of power, Hatsan 90 TR is one step lower than the recognized bestseller - the 125th model. Review of the Hatsan 90 TR air rifle

Single-shot spring-mechanical rifle with a breakable rifled barrel of 4.5 mm caliber. The stock is made of polymer material, the butt plate is rubber.

Advantages

A simple and reliable combat mechanism of the Hatsan 90 rifle, a method of loading by breaking the barrel, familiar to many fans of air guns.

External sighting devices (rear sight and front sight) with colored fiber-optic threads. The rear sight is equipped with two micrometric screws that rotate discretely (step by step), which makes it easier to zero the weapon in the horizontal and vertical planes. There is a dovetail rail for mounting optical sights, the position of which can be changed to suit the shooter’s vision.

The rifle has a proprietary Khatsan vibration damping system when fired. The model has a semi-pistol stock, “Monte Carlo” type, with a cushion-protrusion on the left side and a rubber butt plate.

The rifle is relatively light - 3.2 kg. It can be modernized.

Flaws

Due to the fact that the rifle is a Magnum class, significant force is required to break the barrel and load it. Tactical disadvantage - single shot.

The safety of the Hatsan 90 rifle is mechanical; an inexperienced shooter can fire an accidental shot. At the same time, the rail for attaching optical sights is the simplest, with a small holding area. When installing a reinforced spring, the sight may be torn off from the mount.

The stock is made of polymer material, which is bad manners for weapon aesthetes. Application

In the stock version with a weakened spring and a drilled piston, the rifle is suitable for recreational shooting and, to some extent, sports shooting.

With a reinforced or gas spring it can be used for sports competitions and hunting small animals - rats, squirrels, pigeons.

Modifications

Hatsan 90 TR is available in three versions:

— basic model 90 TR with black stock; — 90 Camo TR – camouflage stock; — 90 MW TR – imitation Turkish walnut stock.

The technical characteristics of the Hatsan 90 magnum modifications do not differ from each other.

Technical characteristics of the Hatsan mod 90 air rifle:

Appearance and design

The rifle cannot be called elegant. This feeling is especially emphasized by the massive forend, which ends abruptly at the loading unit, and the barrel breech in the form of a parallelepiped with clear edges and a rough piston pusher lever. The stock is semi-pistol, but the butt is attached to the handle at such a small angle that it looks straight English. There are notches for easy grip only on the handle. The butt plate is made of shock-absorbing rubber. On the buttplate of the combat mechanism there is a safety button, similar to the cocking lever of a revolver. The front sight is massive, with a red fiber-optic thread, protected by a steel metal casing in the form of a cylinder section.

The rear sight is also equipped with two fiber-optic threads, but green. It has two micrometric discretely (step by step) rotating screws, allowing for precise adjustment in the vertical and horizontal planes when zeroing. There is a dovetail bar that can be moved along the upper casing of the combat mechanism compressor. The strap is small in size; when using a reinforced twisted gas spring, the optical sight can be torn off from the mount.

The trigger mechanism is steel, the safety is manually engaged. The trigger guard is large; two screws securing it also secure the barrel to the stock. The trigger travel is adjusted using a screw with an internal hex hole, which is located at the back, closer to the bracket.

The combat mechanism is spring-loaded; it is cocked and loaded when the barrel is broken. The opening bolt is rigid and requires a lot of force to break and cock it. Single shooting with 4.5 mm bullets. The barrel is steel, rifled.

Principle of operation

Loading and cocking of the combat mechanism occurs according to the traditional scheme for air rifles with a barrel fracture. First, the locking bolt is pressed, then, having previously rested or otherwise fixed the butt, they take the barrel with their right hand closer to the front sight and smoothly, without jerking or excessive force, “break” the barrel to a position perpendicular to the stock and a characteristic click that accompanies arming the combat mechanism .

A lead bullet of 4.5 mm caliber is inserted into the breech hole. Bullets of different weights and types can be used as ammunition, including those with a copper core (Diabolo) and pyrotechnic effects. The rifling goes straight from the muzzle, so loading requires force, which should not be excessive so as not to dent the bullet skirt. The bullet must be completely recessed into the barrel. Having finished loading, the barrel is returned to its original position until the locking bolt clicks.

The rifle has a non-automatic safety. On the one hand, this speeds up the rate of fire. On the other hand, it makes the rifle dangerous - an inexperienced shooter can fire an unauthorized shot. The safety button is large, with transverse notches, similar to the cocking lever of a revolver. It is located on the buttplate of the combat mechanism.

Disassembly

Disassembling the Hatsan mod 90 rifle begins with separating the combat mechanism from the stock. For this:

- Unscrew two small screws on both sides of the forend; — remove from the stopper and remove the thick pin of the shock-absorbing system (hole on the forend, under the rear sight); - Unscrew the two screws on the trigger guard; — separate the stock from the fighting mechanism.

After this, you can disassemble the firing mechanism and separate the barrel from the compressor. If the spring is weakened, then no additional devices are required. Otherwise, you need a machine that tightens along the centerline of the barrel, allowing you to smoothly release the mainspring.

It is better to start disassembling the mechanism by separating the barrel. For this:

- Unscrew the small locking screw of the pusher mechanism hinge, which is located on the left side of the breech; - Unscrew the hinge pin; — remove the push lever from the locking stop on the piston.

After this, you can disassemble the combat mechanism itself. This is done like this:

— two pins on the compressor, which are located in front, are removed; — the trigger mechanism is removed; — the fuse box pin is knocked out, and the whole thing, together with the pusher, is removed; — the bushing behind the trigger mechanism is unscrewed; — the third pin is knocked out and the compressor plug is removed; — the mainspring and piston are removed.

Upgrade

The delivery package for Hatsan pneumatics previously included a reinforced spring, but it is better to replace it with a gas one. The criterion for the correct choice is the size of the energy source. The reinforced version is installed in the compressor with the plug being pressed by at least 2 mm.

Trigger travel adjustment

The trigger pull of a Magnum class rifle is quite high, so for successful shooting you need to choose the optimal trigger stroke for yourself. To adjust this parameter, turn the rifle over with the trigger guard facing up. At the back of the trigger, look for a screw with a hex hole inside. Using the key that came with the rifle, experiment with its position. Unscrewing the screw lengthens the stroke, tightening it shortens it. Do not make the trigger stroke too short, since the rifle's safety is non-automatic. By making the trigger too sensitive, you risk the mechanism being uncocked without permission.

Barrel cleaning

The main problem with air rifles is the lead coating of the first third of the bore. It reduces accuracy, and in severe cases prevents the bullet from passing through. To remove it, you need a brass brush and Ballistol oil. A cleaning rod with a set of brushes - brass and nylon, is better to buy specifically for air guns. It has a plastic coating and will not scratch the barrel.
