A blank weapon or SHP is a weapon that fires exclusively light-sound (blank) cartridges.

The sound of a shot and the visual effect (flame escaping from the barrel, an ejected cartridge case, smoke from gunpowder) are almost indistinguishable in cold and real weapons.

Blanketed weapons can be roughly divided into two types: decommissioned blanked weapons and new-made copies of combat prototypes.

A decommissioned, emaciated rarity - a once military weapon, converted to fire exclusively with blank cartridges. The appearance (weight, size, operation of mechanisms) of such a product almost completely corresponds to the combat original.

New-made copies - such products have never been used for combat and were initially manufactured only for firing blanks. The appearance (weight, size, operation of mechanisms) of such a product may differ significantly from the combat original.

Video review of the Kalashnikov AKM SHP assault rifle, emptied (VPO-925):

Recently, decommissioned, cold versions of weapons capable of firing noise with blank cartridges have become popular. One of the new models on the market of cold weapons is the AKM produced by Molot-Oruzhie. The model is called VPO-925 and a distinctive feature of this model is the ability to fire in bursts.

There is also a similar cooled AKM on sale, which also fires 7.62x39 mm light-sound cartridges. Only in both positions of the fire switch is it fired with single shots. The VPO-925 model already fully reproduces the simulation of firing from a machine gun, and in the position of the “AB” interpreter, burst fire is performed.

True, the longest burst will be limited to 10 shots, since the magazine, according to the Weapons Law, is limited to 10 rounds. While in large-scale mock-ups the deactivation of the magazine is mainly done by sawing off the lips holding the cartridges, then in this version the “civilian” version of the magazine with 10 rounds is simply used. The magazine capacity is limited by punching the magazine body on the left side.

Other major parts of the weapon are also deactivated, so the weapon cannot fire live ammunition. This version of a cold weapon can be purchased freely, provided you have a passport. Noise cartridges are also purchased without a license. After deactivation of the weapon, according to the passport, this AKM bears the official name - “Weapon decommissioned, emptied 7.62 Kalashnikov AKM.” Since all variants of weapons and models produced by Molot-Weapon bear the designation “VPO”, this model is designated as VPO-925.

Light and sound cartridges

Each product uses a blank cartridge of its own caliber. Since the variety of models is very large, today there is a fairly wide range of ammunition. These are calibers: 10TK, 10x24, 9IM, 7.62x39, 5.45x39 and many others. Such cartridges do not have a striking element and are used only for acoustic and visual impact.

Legality

From the point of view of the law, such weapons are “decommissioned.” Any citizen of the Russian Federation who has reached the age of 18 can purchase such a weapon. No license or registration required.

After purchasing, during the entire period of ownership of the weapon, you must have with you the product passport issued upon purchase in the store.

Today we have many examples of such weapons being used for entertainment purposes in public places. The people around were simply scared and called the police. Here the law will not be on your side. Therefore, wearing such products in plain sight, much less shooting, is strictly not recommended (this is a criminal offense).
