Rear disc brakes on this car are by no means a necessity, but an image element.

Caster (longitudinal inclination of the turning axis) in the front suspension, the maximum possible within the standard design, provided a clear “zero”. At the rear wheels, the camber is increased to plus two degrees (one degree more than that of the conveyor Granta). Due to this, the track of the rear wheels has slightly widened. The mounting points for the rear beam have been moved back. As a result, the wheelbase of the Grant Sport is slightly increased (by 14 mm) compared to the base of the regular version. Thanks to shortened suspension springs, the car is 40 mm closer to the ground. The shock absorbers look like standard ones from the outside, but differ from them in characteristics and the presence of gas pressure.

Changes to the chassis made it possible to fit wide wheels into standard body arches. Therefore, the body remained the same, without swollen wings. And other differences are small: unusual bumpers, door sills and a deflector on the edge of the trunk.

The engine compartment of the Grants Sport is no different from that of a production car.

In order for the car to drive better from below, the main pair of the gearbox with a standard series of gear ratios was shortened to 4.3. This made it possible to reduce the acceleration time to hundreds to 9.5 seconds. and increase top speed. Now it is equal to 197 km/h and is achieved in fifth gear with such a main gear that has become almost direct, and not overdrive. And the fourth turned from a straight line into an intermediate one.

Let us immediately note that the difference between the currently available Drive Active and Sport trim levels lies primarily in the power of the car’s power unit. The basic version of the engine (21127) comes with a maximum torque of 148 Nm at 4200 rpm, while the advanced version (engine 21126) has 150 Nm at 4750 rpm. The difference here is reflected in power: the first option assumes a limit of 106 horsepower, and the second - 114 hp. This difference is visible in fuel consumption and maximum possible speed. By default, in this article we are considering the top-end configuration.

The minimum configuration of Grants Sport - Drive Active will cost you 454,400 rubles. For this price you will get a car equipped with 2 front airbags, daytime running lights, an immobilizer and a combined ABS+BAS system. The interior will feature headrests on the rear row seats, a 12-volt power outlet, a heated front seat system, air conditioning and a 4-speaker multifunction audio system. The steering is complemented by an electric booster, and the column is vertically adjustable. The front doors have electric windows. The on-board computer is equipped with a gear shift guidance system. There is a heated windshield and electrically heated rear-view mirrors.

The maximum configuration, in addition to the functionality listed in the database, has a standard alarm system and fog lights. The brakes here are of a larger size (due to the fact that the configurations are supplied with 15″ and 16″ inch wheels, respectively). In addition to the main socket, this equipment also provides an additional one - in the luggage compartment. In the interior, in addition to the seats and steering wheel, there is a stylish finish for the gear selector and handbrake. The body of this configuration has additional sound insulation. Central locking with remote control and electric windows for the rear doors appear here. The price of this modification is 525,500 rubles.

FULL FORWARD

I liked the powerful brakes, which effectively stop the car, the dense, but at the same time comfortable suspension (potholes, potholes and even ridges, which abound on our roads, were, of course, not present on the sports track). During cornering, the car practically does not roll and clings well even to wet asphalt.

The engine is more of a horsepower engine than a high-torque engine, which is not entirely convenient for everyday use. It seemed that from below it pulled even a little worse than the standard Priora one. But the higher the speed, the more intense the acceleration. Quite smooth throughout the entire rev range, without obvious dips or pick-ups. The machine continues to pick up speed up to 6000 rpm.

The 2018-2019 Granta Sport salon is essentially an improved package of the stock car (Luxe). However, there were some updates here: the trim of the steering wheel and gearshift lever. They are covered in leather and edged with red stitching, looking very stylish. The center console still has 2 ventilation manifolds covered with air flow control covers. In the center is the multimedia system screen with several control keys, and just below are the air conditioning system control buttons and the corresponding adjustment knobs. In addition to basic information, the central screen displays information from the trip computer.

The display of the multimedia system is touch-sensitive and of very high quality - there is even an imitation of feedback. The front row seats of the Lada Granta Sport have acquired a more aggressive look, have lateral support and are equipped with a heating function (for use in the cold season). Red stitching, which has become an integral part of the interior design, is also present in the design of the seats and handbrake. The seat belts have their own adjustable fasteners, which, unfortunately, is not available on the stock Grant.

The side panels are covered with good quality leatherette. The car interior is equipped with ISOFIX fastenings and has a rear door locking function, which increases the level of safety and allows you to travel comfortably even with small children without any problems. The rear row seat layout (40×60) makes it possible to rationally use the interior space. The volume of the luggage compartment in the standard position is 520 liters and can be increased due to the interior (you will have to fold the rear row seats).

ON THE WAY BACK

The road near Dimitrovgrad was blocked by street racers. The pouring rain forced the squat Samaras, Tens and Priors with growling engines to press to the side of the road. “I chose the sports version of Grants as my first car, bought it in January 2021. Before that I had the pleasure of driving a Priora, and I must say that the difference is simply striking. In terms of price/quality ratio, this is an ideal option; finding another new car for the same money that would accelerate to the first “hundred” in less than 10 seconds is simply not realistic. Among the shortcomings, I encountered “howls” in the manual transmission and the sound insulation is far from ideal. Otherwise, there were no complaints, road holding is excellent and acceleration is confident.”
