Air guns are gradually gaining popularity among hunters. This is explained:
- ease of acquisition, which does not require specialized expensive training, an abundance of documents and approvals;
- no need to register the arsenal with regulatory authorities (if the initial muzzle energy is less than 7.5 J);
- silent shooting (or minor noise effects);
- ease of weapon maintenance;
- simple repairs and troubleshooting;
- at an affordable price.

In any case, the hunting rules in the Russian Federation with the latest changes in 2020 are of interest to a significant part of Russians. We'll tell you where and when you can hunt, what requirements the law imposes on hunters, and what the new edition of the hunting rules in the Russian Federation are in 2020. Hunting with pneumatics. In law
Pneumatics are equipment for acquiring sports shooting skills, that is, their use must be carried out in special places. They are considered shooting ranges, firing ranges, shooting ranges, places for clay pigeon shooting, which belong to institutions of any kind of activity that have received permission from the municipal authorities. That is, shooting in city limits with pneumatic guns is illegal.
The most common mechanisms are those with a broken barrel, although over time this design develops play and decreases accuracy.
It is advisable to buy PCP pneumatics with a power greater than 7.5 J, but they are sold only for permission. It makes no sense to take PP pneumatics for permission. And the biggest advantage of pneumatics is that even the most powerful ones can be bought without five years of experience.

Many manufacturers use a rather unique method, taking advantage of certain loopholes in the law. The fact is that the law does not directly regulate the technical improvement of legal sporting weapons.
At the same time, weapons whose power does not exceed 7.5 J are sold freely and do not require registration. If the shot energy exceeds 7.5 J, then registration and licensing are required.
As previously mentioned, the need to obtain a license is directly related to the power of pneumatic equipment. So, for example, in the case of purchasing a pneumatic Makarov, the power of which is less than 7.5 Joules, obtaining a license is not provided.

And although it is quite difficult to call pneumatics a universal option today, on the shelves of many online stores there are many options for weapons that successfully cope with hunting tasks. Law on air weapons in Russia
An air gun is a type of small arms that is fired by applying high pressure to a projectile with compressed gas.
Practitioners criticize it, pointing out the inadequacy and complicated procedure for obtaining vouchers, but there is no alternative yet. This is a law specifically about the conservation of hunting resources, so it only touches upon hunting rules in passing.
This product is purchased by citizens of the Russian Federation for the purpose of playing sports or hunting small animals. However, like any other type of shooting equipment, pneumatics can pose a danger to health and life. To resolve all issues related to the development and storage of pneumatic weapons and other types of weapons, a corresponding law was adopted.
Contents Federal Law “On Weapons” N 150-FZ came into force on December 13, 1996.
A valid regulatory act regulates the rights of representatives of Federal services, legal entities and ordinary citizens to develop, acquire and use all types of weapons. Last paragraph of Art. 1 of the law in question states that sports equipment similar in design to a weapon cannot be considered such.
Rifle selection
Since each type of pneumatics has its own characteristic features, a number of indicators must be taken into account when choosing. The law plays an important role here. If you don't have a high-powered weapon permit, you won't be able to use high-performance airguns.
To hunt wild boar, beaver, hare and others, you need a rifle with high muzzle energy. A great example is the Korean "Dragon Career Slayer". However, such pneumatics are prohibited by law in our country, so they can only be used abroad .

Compression and spring-piston rifles are especially popular. They function in the cold season, which is very important for our climate. The most in demand are pneumatics from German and Spanish manufacturers. Compressor rifles are much more expensive, however, the demand for them is much higher. This is due to the technical characteristics of single and multiple inflation of compression pneumatic weapons.
A cheap option is pneumatics with a spring-piston system. Suitable for hunting pheasants, partridges, ducks, hazel grouse, crows and other birds, as well as small animals such as hare or beaver. However, this design has a drawback - after each shot you must manually reload the rifle.

Therefore, for wary game such as ducks or hares, it is necessary to take an accurate first shot. Otherwise, you will scare the animal away and it will be difficult to find. Moreover, spring-piston rifles allow hunting only at close range. Because of this, it is not recommended to go with such a weapon against wild boar and larger game, as it is quite dangerous.
One of the most popular brands of air guns is Pre-Charge Pneumatics or PCP. Many rifles from this manufacturer can fire up to 45 shots without reloading. In addition, they are very light and comfortable. True, their cost is significantly higher than alternative rifles. PCPs are designed for professional hunters.

Hunting rules 2020
» Contents Hunting is no longer a way to obtain food.
This is entertainment for people. No one is going to ban hunting animals yet. However, today there are a number of rules for hunting this year.
In 2010, the order “On approval of hunting rules in the Russian Federation” was signed, and during this time it has undergone certain changes. every hunter must know his rights and responsibilities, otherwise it is punishable. When reading this article, be extremely careful, and if any additional questions arise, be sure to consult a specialist. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology has created order No. 512, according to which certain requirements regarding hunting. All this is done to preserve natural resources.
Official rules do not apply to wild animals living in places owned by legal entities or individuals.
Air rifle weight
The weight of the weapon also depends on the type of rifle: the larger the barrel caliber and the more powerful the arsenal, the greater the weight of the structure. In turn, the mass indicator determines the ease of handling an air rifle: the greater the weight, the more difficult it is to keep it suspended and carry out precise aiming.
When shooting from a rest (mainly in the sports or amateur segment of pneumatic use), this indicator is not of fundamental importance. In the case of hunting, which requires rapid movement across terrain (usually rough), this criterion will play a primary role. In addition, when shooting while standing without a rest, it will be extremely difficult to control the accuracy of fire.
The “golden rule” of a hunter: the weight of a rifle for hunting is selected purely individually. The main criterion here is the physical condition and preferences of the hunter himself. An air rifle should be convenient and not distract the hunter from his priority mission.

Another circumstance that should be taken into account when choosing the mass of an air weapon is the recoil force. The dependence of these indicators is inversely functional: the smaller the mass of the rifle, the greater the recoil force will interfere with the shooter and require him to adjust his aim.

So, the Law says unequivocally - hunting with throwing weapons is still prohibited in Russia (read about the 2020 bills below)! However, the article will not be about poaching, to which the author has an extremely negative attitude.
This topic, frankly speaking, is not that slippery, but very vague. Nevertheless, archers and crossbowmen were not left without real and completely legal options. Of course, with a lot of nuances and nuances.
Just a few words about non-CIS countries.
Specifically, about North America, where all conditions have been created for bowhunters (archers).
To their seasons, discounts on licenses and other preferences. Oddly enough, crossbows do not enjoy such favor from overseas legislators, since truly effective shooting from them is much easier. It is no coincidence that crossbows were once considered the weapon of common people, and archers were a piece of “goods”.

Pneumatics for hunting
Today, many people decide to purchase air guns. Some do this to gain useful skills, others to teach their child responsibility and at the same time help him get used to such an integral part of a real man’s life as a real weapon. But often people also buy air rifles for hunting . Why are they doing that? Wouldn't it be easier to buy a real hunting rifle? It will be very useful to find answers to these questions.
First of all, these people prefer pneumatics to smooth-bore firearms due to the low cost of ammunition . Yes, if the cheapest cartridge with buckshot costs about 15 rubles, and a cartridge with a bullet costs at least 20 rubles, then standard bullets with a diameter of 4.5 millimeters for air rifles cost less than a ruble apiece. The savings are obvious!
An equally serious argument is the ease of purchasing pneumatic weapons. To buy a firearm, you have to go through a lot of commissions and collect a package of relevant documents. But you can buy air rifles with only a passport - this is quite enough. So, buying pneumatic guns will help you save a lot of free time, which you can spend with great pleasure, for example, shooting from a brand new rifle.
In most cases, rifles are purchased for hunting - air pistols are not suitable for this. Their main drawback is the low speed of the bullet. This is due to the short barrel - the bullet does not have time to accelerate to sufficient speed. But rifles give the bullet high enough speed so that an experienced hunter can hit prey at a decent distance.
Of course, you shouldn’t go after a bear or wild boar with a pneumatic gun - this is sure suicide. If only because tiny bullets do not have a sufficient stopping effect. Some rifles are so powerful that they can accelerate a bullet to speeds of 300 meters per second - like the special silent rifles used by special forces snipers. However, the light weight of the bullet will not allow it to penetrate the thick skin of a bear, and even if it hits a less protected place, it will not be able to stop an angry bear. And the cost of such rifles is very high, which does not suit most potential buyers.
Therefore, pneumatics are better suited for hunting hare, partridge or duck . Such prey does not pose a danger to the hunter, especially if you follow primitive safety rules. But here, too, special requirements must be placed on rifles. The main one is the bullet’s flight speed of at least 200 meters per second. Otherwise, it simply will not penetrate the plumage and will not be able to penetrate deep enough to hit vital organs.
However, many hunters prefer to hit not just anywhere, but in the head. That is why air rifles for hunting are often equipped with special optical sights. With their help, even an inexperienced hunter can easily hit a target in the head at a distance of 30-50 meters. But still, the requirement for the speed of the bullet remains - otherwise, there is a high probability that the wounded animal will be able to elude the hunter and die somewhere in the thicket or dense forest.
Of course, if you have chosen a pneumatic gun for hunting, you should take care of it no less carefully than a real weapon. And in the same way, we must not forget about safety rules - this can turn into a real tragedy.
Well, if handled with care, the rifle will easily serve you for many years.
Is hunting with pneumatics allowed in Russia?
For die-hards, hunting with air guns is LAWFUL in the Russian Federation (see Decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation of August 26, 2005 N GKPI05-987), but if you hunt, you must have a hunting license.
Otherwise, it could be even more serious - since it will be very difficult to prove that there are a lot of chipmunks in the forest and they are hunted, and that several pheasants are sticking out of the backpack that a stranger asked me to help carry.
The Government of the Russian Federation has determined that amateur and sport hunting with permitted hunting tools, as well as hunting dogs and birds of prey, can be carried out by all citizens of the Russian Federation who have passed tests on hunting rules, hunting safety precautions, handling hunting weapons and paid the state fee in the prescribed amount.
For hunting with pneumatics, it is necessary to clarify what kind of pneumatics is a hunting weapon and requires the appropriate permit.
The procedure for purchasing air guns according to the law
Being in hunting grounds with firearms, traps and other hunting tools, and with assembled hunting weapons on public roads is also equated to hunting.
The handling of air rifles by Russians while hunting is regulated by the latest edition of the “Hunting Rules”. According to this document, the use of this type of weapon is prohibited, with the exception of amateur hunting for squirrels, chipmunks, doves, flying squirrels, crows, and hazel grouse.
Some argue that any air pistols cannot be carried loaded or without a holster, others argue that you can shoot an air rifle in your dacha, etc.
Which pneumatics to choose for hunting without a license
There are also super-powerful samples designed for hunting medium-sized and even large-sized animals. Another advantage that is attractive to many hunters is the fact that today in Russia you can buy an air gun for hunting without a license and bureaucratic red tape.
But here lies several legal incidents and the resulting confusion in the interpretation of existing laws. The fact is that the law answers the question of whether it is possible to hunt with an air rifle in our forests, steppes and fields, rather ambiguously. On the one hand, hunting with pneumatic guns is not officially permitted by current legislation.
On the other hand, weapons with a muzzle energy of less than 7.5 J are officially called “hunting” even in the law “On Weapons”, and shooting birds (mainly crows) and stray animals using pneumatic weapons is not prohibited in any way. In hunting areas, such shooting is even the responsibility of hunters.
