Hyundai TucsonHyundai Tucson
The second generation was introduced in 2009, but in most markets the model name was replaced by ix35. The car received more powerful and economical engines, an improved security system, dimensions, and became generally more comfortable.
History of creation and production
The car shared a platform with two other popular Korean cars - Hyundai Elantra and KIA Sportage. The ground clearance of 195 mm suggests that its off-road appearance is something more than a simple tribute to modern fashion. It is noteworthy that having all-wheel drive, on dry asphalt the traction force is completely transferred to the front axle. If the need arises, the rear axle is easily connected. On severe off-road conditions, the system of forced symmetrical traction distribution between the front and rear axles is activated by pressing a button.
For connoisseurs of modern "tricks" - a number of modern abbreviations - ABS, TCS, EBD, TOD. By paying a little extra, you can get the service of installing a tire pressure sensor. And so on, so on, so on... Just two years after the start of production, the Tucson received the highest award from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
- 1st generation (2004-2009).
The first Tucson models received three different power plants:
- two gasoline engines – two-liter (141 hp) and 2.7 liter (175 hp);
- turbodiesel (112 hp).
The design team experimented quite a lot with the layout and transmission. Cars with manual transmission, 4-speed automatic transmission, front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive (depending on the region of sale) appeared on sale. For the Russian Federation, all-wheel drive vehicles with gasoline internal combustion engines were assembled. The price of the Korean “miracle on wheels” started at 26 thousand dollars. (as standard).
In 2006, the car underwent its first restyling. The list of additional amenities includes climate control and a high-end stereo sound system. A version appeared on sale, the engine of which ran on hydrogen fuel cells (FCEV) with a maximum speed of 150 km/h.
2009 was the last year when the 1st generation Tucson was offered to buyers in most third-country markets (China, Taiwan, Ukraine and others). However, in Brazil this car is still on the assembly line. Borka is carried out with engines running on regular gasoline or ethyl alcohol.
- 2nd generation (2009-2014).
The new modification received a distinctive feature - the prefix ix35 in the name. This is exactly what they began to call the new car (and not just Tucson, as it remained only in the USA and Korea). The philosophy of the manufacturers involved increasing the efficiency of a diverse line of gasoline engines and improving the safety system. The new car became the headliner of the automobile exhibition in the German city of Frankfurt am Main, which started on September 3, 2009.
The structural basis of the ix35 is the third generation KIA Sportage. The integration of design documentation and production capacities of the two Korean auto giants is extremely high. The KIA Motors Slovakia plant was the first to put the new car on its conveyor in January 2010. A year and a half later, production began at Hyundai's Czech subsidiary in Nošovice.
The line of power plants looked very diverse in these years:
- Europe - 2-liter gasoline engine (165 hp);
- USA - 2.4-liter gasoline engine (176 hp);
- Korea - 2-liter turbodiesel (185 hp).
The design of the drive, in general, has not changed. The car was produced with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, with a manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Koreans have not stopped experimenting with alternative fuel sources. The second generation ix35 with FCEV electric motors with a power of 80 kW was delivered to America.
- 3rd generation (2015-present).
In 2015, in Geneva, the Koreans presented the third generation Tucson. The car was returned to its original name, leaving the ix35 encoding for the Chinese market. The fact is that for the Celestial Empire the car was assembled on the basis of the second generation model (2010). Only on August 31, 2021, the updated Tucson with a modern design and an advanced set of components and systems was first shown to Chinese customers.
After restyling in 2013, the designers made a number of changes to the front and rear optics of the car. Bi-xenon front running lights appeared. Other improvements:
- the appearance of a Flex Steer system on the steering wheel;
- change in wheel design;
- installation of a virtual 4.2-inch dashboard and front parking lights.
The Russian version of the third generation Tucson received a gasoline engine with a new distributed fuel injection system and two types of transmission - a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The diesel engine has also changed its appearance, receiving an improved exhaust gas recirculation system.
Just a month ago it became known that a new version of the popular crossover might soon appear. It is not yet known under what name it will be produced, what power plants will be installed under the hood. The work on the outlines of the new car is being carried out by the team of the Hyundai Global Design Center, led by its head, senior vice president of the company, Sun Yup Lee.

On March 3, 2015, the third generation Hyundai Tucson was presented at the Geneva Motor Show. Sales of the car in Russia began in November 2015. [2]
Interior of the new Hyundai Tucson
The interior of the Hyundai Tucson is built on the company's new principle, which is meaningfully called Matrix. Multifunctionality is its main trump card, as well as high-quality finishing materials, soft plastic, and thoughtful ergonomics. Crickets and crackling noises in the cabin are out of the question. Those days are long gone. Now the Koreans are focusing on comfort and multitasking of the interior. There are as many as six options for finishing colors, among which you can choose either the strictest black leather or upholstery in a more free style, with bright inserts and contrasting solutions.
The third generation Hyundai Tucson is already practically a premium car, but the price is still affordable for a buyer with an average income. Excellent to drive, economical in fuel consumption and operation, with a huge selection of engines, gearboxes, equipment and body colors, this crossover will sell just as well as its two predecessors.

An excerpt characterizing the Hyundai Tucson
Kutuzov's merit did not lie in some brilliant, as they call it, strategic maneuver, but in the fact that he alone understood the significance of the event that was taking place. He alone understood even then the meaning of the inaction of the French army, he alone continued to assert that the Battle of Borodino was a victory; he alone - the one who, it would seem, due to his position as commander-in-chief, should have been called to the offensive - he alone used all his strength to keep the Russian army from useless battles. The killed animal near Borodino lay somewhere where the hunter who ran away had left it; but whether he was alive, whether he was strong, or whether he was just hiding, the hunter did not know. Suddenly the groan of this beast was heard. The groan of this wounded beast, the French army, which exposed its destruction, was the sending of Lauriston to Kutuzov’s camp with a request for peace. Napoleon, with his confidence that it is not only good that is good, but what came into his head that is good, wrote to Kutuzov the words that first came to his mind and had no meaning. Signe: Napoleon.” [Prince Kutuzov, I am sending you one of my general adjutants to negotiate with you on many important subjects. I ask Your Lordship to believe everything that he tells you, especially when he begins to express to you the feelings of respect and special reverence that I have had for you for a long time. Therefore, I pray to God to keep you under his sacred roof. Moscow, October 3, 1812. Napoleon. ] “Je serais maudit par la posterite si l'on me regardait comme le premier moteur d'un accommodement quelconque. Tel est l'esprit actuel de ma nation,” [I would be damned if I were looked upon as the first instigator of any transaction; such is the will of our people. ] - answered Kutuzov and continued to use all his strength to keep the troops from attacking. In the month of the robbery of the French army in Moscow and the quiet stop of the Russian army near Tarutin, a change occurred in the strength of both troops (spirit and number), as a result of which the advantage of strength was on the side of the Russians. Despite the fact that the position of the French army and its strength were unknown to the Russians, how soon the attitude changed, the need for an offensive was immediately expressed in countless signs. These signs were: the sending of Lauriston, and the abundance of provisions in Tarutino, and information coming from all sides about the inaction and disorder of the French, and the recruitment of our regiments with recruits, and good weather, and the long rest of Russian soldiers, and the rest that usually arises in the troops as a result of rest. impatience to carry out the task for which everyone was gathered, and curiosity about what was happening in the French army, so long lost from sight, and the courage with which Russian outposts were now snooping around the French stationed in Tarutino, and news of easy victories over the French by the peasants and the partisans, and the envy aroused by this, and the feeling of revenge that lay in the soul of every person as long as the French were in Moscow, and (most importantly) the unclear, but arose in the soul of every soldier, consciousness that the relationship of force had now changed and the advantage is on our side. The essential balance of forces changed, and an offensive became necessary. And immediately, just as surely as the chimes begin to strike and play in a clock, when the hand has made a full circle, in the higher spheres, in accordance with a significant change in forces, the increased movement, hissing and play of the chimes was reflected.
