Running in the Polo Sedan
Volkswagen Polo cars are distinguished by high quality workmanship and the materials used, so they are immediately ready for full use and do not require special running-in. However, during the initial period of operation of the car (the first 1000 km), intensive break-in of parts occurs. To increase the reliability, durability and efficiency of the vehicle during its further operation and after major engine repairs, we recommend following the following rules for operating the vehicle.
1. Before each trip, check and, if necessary, adjust the tire pressure to normal.
2. Do not allow the engine to operate at high crankshaft speed (more than 5000 rpm4).
3. Change to a lower gear in a timely manner, in accordance with road conditions, to avoid unwanted engine overload.
4. For better break-in of brake pads, try to avoid sudden braking.
5. If possible, avoid driving in deep snow, sand, and mud.
6. Do not tow a trailer and, if possible, try to avoid towing other vehicles.
7. Use a “soft” driving style, avoiding sudden acceleration, braking, and maneuvering.
8. Do not exceed the speed of 90 km/h, even on downhill slopes.
9. Periodically check and, if necessary, adjust the tension of the drive belt of auxiliary units (generator, power steering pump and air conditioning compressor). During the initial period of operation, the belt can stretch most intensively.
10. Monitor the condition of all vehicle fasteners and tighten them if necessary. Pay special attention to the fastening of wheels, steering parts, front and rear suspensions, and exhaust system pipes.

Before leaving
Before leaving, check the technical condition of the car. You will spend no more than ten minutes, but you will be sure that the systems and components of the car are in good working order. The check must also be carried out during daily use of the car, even if it seems to you that everything is working flawlessly. Some of the work can be done while the engine is warming up, saving a few minutes.
1. When approaching the parking lot, pay attention to whether there are any oil or operating fluids leaking under the car. If possible, fix the leak before leaving.
2. Walk around the car. Check the following:
- completeness of removable parts (windshield wiper blades, exterior mirrors, etc.);
- integrity of body glass, headlight lenses and lanterns. Don't delay replacing broken lenses. Replace cracked body windows as soon as possible;
- tire condition. Radial tires have soft sidewalls, causing tires with rated inflation pressure to appear flat. Remember their appearance (draft). At least once a month, check the air pressure in your tires and, if necessary, adjust it to the recommended pressure for your tire type. A difference in pressure values within the range of 0.2-0.3 kgf/cm2 can worsen the controllability parameters, the smoothness of the vehicle and lead to unwanted skidding or drift when braking. Low tire pressure causes the tread to wear out faster and consumes more fuel.
3. Check the oil level in the engine crankcase and, if necessary, bring it up to normal.
4. Check the brake fluid level in the hydraulic reservoir of the brake system and clutch release (on vehicles with a manual transmission). If necessary, add fluid to the correct level.
5. Check the coolant level in the expansion tank. If necessary, bring it to normal.
Before driving, be sure to check the operation of the braking system with the vehicle stationary by pressing the brake pedal (shown on a vehicle with an automatic transmission). If the pedal “sinks” to the floor without resistance, it means the brake system is faulty. Operation of such a vehicle is prohibited.

Comparison of Polo and Polo sedan
The Volkswagen Polo Sedan belongs to the fifth generation, occupies one of the first places among class B cars, and even many years after its appearance on the Russian market is not considered obsolete. The VW Polo sedan is highly valued by our car enthusiasts, designed specifically for Russian roads, produced in Russia since 2010 at the Kaluga automobile plant of the Volkswagen company.
The European Polo differs from the sedan produced for Russia. This is a sixth generation car, appeared in 2021 after updates were made. It is a five-door hatchback with a spacious interior, trunk volume of 351 liters, and a large number of systems that facilitate its operation.
The European Polo is notable for its characteristic appearance, combining classic proportions and modern design:
- It features a short rear overhang, a tapered front end, and dynamic rear struts.
- Has a relatively low rise.
- The instruments on the panel are located on the same axis.
- The BB Polo sedan body is equipped with LED running lights, an auto-braking system, and a pedestrian recognition function.
- There are options for monitoring blind spots, semi-automatic parking, keyless start and access to the cabin.
The difference between Polo and Polo sedan concerns, first of all, the body and operating conditions. Based on the quality of the roads, our sedan is equipped with a stronger all-metal body, galvanized in areas susceptible to corrosion. Its engine is unpretentious, the suspension is reinforced.
In 2015, our Polo underwent restyling: the design and quality of the headlights, radiator grille, and bumpers changed. Innovations have appeared in the interior of the Volkswagen Polo sedan: the seats have become more comfortable, the steering wheel has become more functional, and modern media systems have appeared.

The body of the VW Polo sedan is larger than that of the European Polo, the chassis has been strengthened, the hood line has become higher, and the interior is more spacious. The slope of the windshield has increased and the wheelbase has become longer. New materials were used for interior decoration, sound insulation was improved.
