  • Grenade launcher "GP-30 Obuvka"

    GP-30 “Obuvka”
    In 1985, the main customer, the USSR Ministry of Defense, set the industry the task of modernizing the GP-25 grenade launcher.

    Based on the results of the work carried out, in 1987 the 40-mm 6G21 grenade launcher was submitted for field testing and in 1989 adopted by the SA, receiving the index GP-30 (theme “Shoes”).

    The design of the GP-30 is a single-shot grenade launcher, loaded from the muzzle, with a rifled barrel.
    The trigger mechanism is self-cocking, with a manual safety and automatic blocking of the shot if it is not installed correctly on the machine gun. GP-30 mounted on an AK-74M
    Grenades for the GP-30 have an original “caseless” design with an integral chamber for the propellant charge, which “flies away” from the barrel along with the grenade. This solution eliminates the action of removing the spent cartridge from the reloading cycle, which significantly increases the practical rate of fire of this grenade launcher compared to most Western analogues. On the body of the grenade there is a leading belt with ready-made rifling.

    The main disadvantage of the GP-30 grenade launcher (as well as the GP-25) in comparison with Western analogues is the limited choice of ammunition - only three types of grenades - the regular fragmentation VOG-25 and the “jumping” VOG-25P and the “non-lethal” Gvozd grenade with tear gas.

    GP-30 incomplete disassembly: 1 - barrel with bracket, 2 - body with handle, 3 - breech, 4 - pins.
    The VOG-25P jumping grenade is distinguished by the fact that after hitting the ground at the target it does not explode immediately, but with the help of a special charge it “bounces” up about half a meter to a meter and explodes in the air, providing more optimal coverage of the target (infantry in a trench or shelter ) fragments. The radius of the effective fragmentation zone for VOG-25 grenades is approximately 5 meters. Effective firing range 100-150 meters.

    In terms of combat characteristics, the GP-30 grenade launcher corresponds to the GP-25 grenade launcher; the same shots are used for firing - VOG-25 and VOG-25P. The main differences between the GP-30 grenade launcher and the GP-25 grenade launcher are as follows: 1. The labor intensity of manufacturing a new grenade launcher has been reduced by 30%. 2. The total mass of the grenade launcher (based on the results of field tests) was reduced by an average of 0.260 kg. 3. The design of the sight has been changed.

    Closer attention should be paid to the design of the GP-30 grenade launcher sight.

    GP-30 grenade launcher device: 1 - locking lever, 2 - closing spring, 3 - trigger with traction, 4 - trigger spring, 5 - combat spring, 6 - pulley, 7 - trigger, 8 - body axis, 9 - transmitting lever, 10 - latch, 11 - fuse.

    The sight, just like the GP-25 grenade launcher, is mechanical, open type, but structurally located not to the left, but to the right of the machine gun’s aiming line and is a quadrant-type design. The design of this sight is simpler; setting the required firing range is easier and faster than on the GP-25 grenade launcher.

    GP-30 installed on the AK-74M
    The purpose of moving the sight to the right side was to improve the convenience of aiming (it is quite clear that it is not for a left-handed person) - the shooter’s head tilts towards the butt, and does not deviate from it to the left, as on the GP-25, and that it is important to improve performance characteristics. This design of the sight makes it more convenient to land and move with a machine gun and an attached grenade launcher in the “on the belt” position. When crawling, the sight becomes less clogged and is subject to fewer mechanical shocks. In addition, the scope, intended for firing at an invisible target, was excluded from the scope. This is due to the fact that the experience of combat operation of under-barrel grenade launchers has sufficiently proven the ineffectiveness of firing at an invisible target, primarily due to the inability to adjust fire, as well as the small volume of portable ammunition. It should be noted that the design of the GP-30 grenade launcher does not have a fuse flag type. This is due to the fact that in order to fire a shot, it is necessary to apply significant force to the trigger with a sufficiently “long” descent, which practically eliminates the accidental discharge of a loaded grenade launcher.

    To carry a grenade launcher system in the stowed position, the equipment of a modern infantryman includes two bags: Bag 1 is designed to carry a grenade launcher (the body with the breech is separated from the barrel with a bracket), a rubber butt plate and a banner. Bag 2 is designed for carrying ammunition and is made in the form of fabric clips with sockets for shots. Each socket is closed with a length-adjustable valve, which allows you to reliably fix both VOG-25 and VOG-25P rounds. In addition, a connecting strip is sewn to bag 2, designed to secure a pouch with hand grenades.

    As for disassembling, assembling, cleaning and lubricating the GP-30 grenade launcher during operation and maintenance, for this they use the tool and accessories of the machine together with the banner included in the grenade launcher kit.

    Well, the production of this formidable weapon for the modern infantryman of the Russian army, which occupies a leading position in the world in its class, is carried out at the Tula Arms Plant, famous for its glorious traditions.

    Civilian gas mask GP-7B with filter box GP-7KB

    The civilian gas mask GP-7B is an analogue of the civilian gas mask GP-7 with improved protective and ergonomic properties. In the process of its development, world experience in using the latest technologies and original technical solutions was used. GP-7 Designed to protect the respiratory organs, eyes and skin of a person from toxic substances, radioactive dust, biological aerosols. Filter-absorbing box - GP-7KB with additional protection against ammonia.

    Purpose of the Gas Mask GP-7B: to protect rescue teams, the population and industrial personnel from vapors, gases and aerosols of toxic and chemically hazardous substances generated during the use of weapons of mass destruction, as well as as a result of emergency situations.

    Complete set of gas mask GP-7B:

    • filter-absorbing box GP-7 kB (GP-7kB-Optim);
    • front part MP-07;
    • anti-fog film – 6 pcs.
    • insulating cuffs – 2 pcs.
    • rubber pressure cord – 2 pcs.;
    • packaging bag (polyethylene);
    • haversack.

    Advantages of the GP-7KB filter-absorbing box

    The plastic filter-absorbing box GP-7KB, in contrast to the metal box, provides:

    • no corrosion of the body;
    • reducing the weight of the box (and the gas mask as a whole);
    • due to reversible deformation of the material, the likelihood of creating conditions for air penetration along the walls of the housing is minimized;
    • filling the box with a modern carbon catalyst made it possible to significantly improve the protective properties of the gas mask, expand the boundaries of its use, thereby eliminating
    • use of additional cartridges DPG-1, DPG-3;
    • the new box can be considered for use in industrial gas masks for the purpose of protection against organic and inorganic gases and vapors
