Technical specifications of Volkswagen Tharu 2021

The 2021 Volkswagen Tharu is built on the MQB platform, so technically it is quite similar to the Skoda Karoq. In terms of the shape of the side lines and wheel arches, the model resembles a Czech crossover. Only the front part of the car and the rear feet, which became LED, underwent structural changes.

The Chinese version of the crossover is 50 mm longer than the European one. The total length of Taru is 4453 mm, height – 1632 mm, and width – 1841 mm. According to the manufacturer, European consumers will see a car built on the Karoq platform.

The new product will arrive on the Russian market with three engine options:

Depending on the displacement, the power of the units varies from 110 to 186 horses. Europeans will additionally have access to models with EA888 2.0TSI turbocharged petrol engines. It is quite possible that 2-liter diesel engines with relatively low fuel consumption will appear in the Russian Federation.

The budget crossover will borrow the equipment of the T-Cross SUV. And the difference between the cars will only be in body design and technical parameters. The standard version of the SUV will include:

  • cabin air purifier;
  • ABS+EBD systems;
  • air conditioner;
  • standard audio system;
  • airbags;
  • heated exterior mirrors;
  • electronically controlled parking brake;
  • parking radars;
  • fasteners for installing a child car seat;
  • double-glazed windows with electronic control;
  • wheel pressure monitoring sensors;
  • LED DRL.

It is likely that Taru will take something from the Skoda Karoq, if only because both cars are based on the same platform.

The interior of the compact crossover is made in a “family” style, so you won’t find inappropriate decorative inserts or flashy accessories. Upon examination, the eye catches on:

  • 3-spoke multi-steering wheel;
  • stylish instrument panel with analog scale;
  • large on-board computer.

An entertainment center with a bright display is installed on the center console, and below it there are symmetrical vents with climate control controls.

The spacious interior with a 5-seater layout is equipped with ergonomic chairs. The front seats have an anatomical corrugated backrest with side bolsters. There are no complaints about the Trau’s luggage compartment, the capacity of which is 455 liters, and when the rear seats are folded down it increases to 1500 liters.

The basic version has a volume of 1.2 liters and is capable of generating up to 116 hp, its more powerful 1.4-liter counterpart produces 150 hp. Both engines are complemented by a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DSG robot. In both cases the transmission is front-wheel drive. The basis for the body of the Volkswagen Tharu 2019 is the MQB platform, consisting of high-strength steel. This is enough to keep the car from falling apart for many years.

Cost and equipment of Volkswagen Tharu 2021

The manufacturer has provided 6 trim levels for the SUV, the cost of which starts from 1,600,000 rubles. The 2021 VW Tharu with the maximum set of equipment will cost at least 2,150,000 rubles.

Shortened versions of Taru will hit the Russian market. Most likely, the price for it will drop to 1,300,000 rubles, like the Creta. If we compare the new crossover with the Hyundai Creta, the price of the latter in Russia starts at only 999,000 rubles.
