5.11 Tactical Scene One Tactical Gloves Preview

Greetings to all harders, harders and other sympathizers. In this review, I want to describe the newly acquired tactical gloves Mechanix M-Pact 3, developed by the Pendos company Mechanix wear, kindly made by long-time friends of the Pendos, the Vietnamese. And also in some way compare the new product with your old tactical gloves from the Russian company SRW Survival Corps, SWAT models.

Types of tactical gloves

The list of the main variations of tactical gloves that can be used to solve various problems is as follows:

  • fingerless gloves;
  • gloves with fingers;
  • warm gloves;
  • gloves with brass knuckles.

No fingers

Tactical fingerless gloves

Tactical fingerless gloves have a very comfortable and multifunctional design. They do not interfere at all with shooting in various conditions. Synthetic materials provide good adhesion to the surface of the weapon. There are special nylon loops on the cuff of the gloves that can be used to attach products to a carabiner. Fixation in this case is carried out by two Velcro, thanks to which the glove completely copies the smallest anatomical features of the hand.

With fingers

Tactical gloves with fingers

These gloves can be used in any temperature conditions. Breathable material ensures optimal air circulation. These gloves are quite easy to clean. Additional reinforcement on the fingers provides maximum durability. In most cases, tactical gloves with fingers are resistant to various negative effects of chemical types.

The presence of a special membrane ensures water resistance. The palm part of the product is made of non-slip material. Provided that if leather is used to make gloves, then it first undergoes a laser embossing procedure. This allows you to subsequently achieve maximum sensitivity.

The main feature of these gloves is the presence of a special layer that is responsible for evaporation removal and prevents palms from fogging.

For ventilation purposes, so-called breathable inserts are also installed, located on the back of the hand. The knuckles have special inserts made of elastic neoprene, which are responsible for a tight fit of the product during use.

With brass knuckles

Tactical gloves with brass knuckles

Tactical gloves with brass knuckles have an anatomical cut. They are very easy to use. The palm and fingers of these gloves are made of soft genuine leather, thanks to which the hand does not slip and reliably holds all objects.

The main design feature of this product is the presence of a special protective brass knuckles. It is made of high strength material - carbon. The joint area of these gloves is additionally lined with leather, which is resistant to getting wet. Fixation on the hand in this case is carried out through the use of Velcro.

Warm

Warm tactical gloves

A special feature of these gloves is the ability to operate them at minimum temperature conditions. A thick layer of base material with the addition of Nomex and Kevlar allows the gloves to be used even in the coldest winter. Products of this type are made from the thinnest, but very warm and strong material, which is characterized by increased heat resistance.

The absence of protruding seams in the area of the finger pads and palm makes working with the weapon much easier. The material used to make warm tactical gloves is not only extremely durable, but also resistant to bending.

OAKLEY TECHNOLOGIES

HDO. High Definition Optics. High Definition Optics Technology

Oakley glasses use a number of technological solutions to achieve maximum transparency, purity and clarity of the lenses. Looking through lenses with HDO, you will not have the feeling that you are looking through cloudy glass - the lenses are perfectly transparent, have no “noise”, thanks to this the eyes do not experience strain, the brain is not distracted by “parasitic” information, but concentrates on the main thing . The Oakley HDO™ technology package is patented and not duplicated by other manufacturers.

HDO is a set of technological solutions that together provide the following results:

  • Absolute transparency;
  • No distortion in the entire field of view;
  • No refraction of light and no change in the “picture” due to the presence of “noise”: with regular lenses, objects are not actually where you see them. HDO offers a higher quality visual image.
  • UV protection: All Oakley lenses with HDO block 100% of UVA, UVB and UVC rays and harmful blue light up to 400 nm;
  • Dual optically correct filters with HDO and Antifog coating F2 - F3 are used in all Oakley lenses;

PRIZM™

A revolutionary technology in optics, based on many years of scientific research into the physics of light propagation and human physiology.

The essence of this technology is based on the light perception characteristics of the human eye, which is very sensitive to details in a certain color range (the so-called “good light”) and is not able to distinguish details in very bright or flat light reflected from snow (the so-called “good light”). bad light").

Prizm lenses use a set of technical solutions to achieve very high clarity, detail and contrast in certain lighting conditions and in certain areas. A filter made with Prizm technology attenuates a certain part of the color spectrum, emphasizing blue and orange hues.

In the manufacturing process of PRIZM lenses, a set of technical solutions is used to weaken most of the “bad” color spectrum and enhance the “good” one. This filter significantly increases the contrast and detail of the snowy terrain, and allows the eyes to work in a comfortable mode without strain.

This significantly increases the contrast of the perception of snow cover (in the case of ski masks) and gives the rider the opportunity to very clearly see all the unevenness of the slope, which dramatically affects the safety of skiing, especially when driving at high speed in dark and light areas. This solution allows the rider to maintain concentration on the track and process all the details of the terrain in a timely and safe manner.

All lenses have their own specialization for certain lighting conditions. When choosing masks, be sure to look at what main filters are installed in this model and which ones come with it as spare ones.

Another important feature of PRIZM lenses is their versatility - they are able to provide a high-quality “picture” in a wider recommended illumination range compared to a conventional lens. The cost of a lens with PRIZM technology is higher than that of a standard lens, but at the same time it is significantly lower than polarized lenses, to which it is practically not inferior in efficiency.

IRIDIUM

A special patented outer coating on Oakley lenses that is done at the molecular level. The coating material is metal oxide with dyes. On the outer side of the lens, which is made of durable polycarbonate - Plutonite, a “mirror” coating is applied, which serves to regulate the amount of visible light transmitted by the lens and give the lenses special properties: increasing the contrast of the image transmitted to the eyes, protecting the eyes from ultraviolet radiation.

The coating on the lenses holds very tightly, but still you should not subject them to special intense mechanical stress.

Ski masks and sunglasses with lenses coated with IRIDIUM, in addition to the beneficial properties of blocking hard sunlight, look very impressive; they have different “mirror” colors, depending on the dye.

SWITCHLOCK

The Switchlock lens changing mechanism makes it easy to change lenses to quickly adapt to changing weather conditions. To change the lens, a special lever is used that easily releases and securely locks the lens, and which can be used without even removing gloves or mittens.

RIDGELOCK

The Ridgelock quick lens change mechanism makes it easy to change the lens used in masks with frameless technology.

ANTI-FOG

Fogging is one of the worst things that can happen to your glasses, especially if you're not in the safest place on a mountainside in bad weather.

Oakley pays special attention to the problem of fogging and uses dual lenses in its masks that create an air buffer zone between the cold outside air and the warm inside air that heats up from the face. To combat fogging and to prevent condensation from forming inside the masks, two types of hydrophobic, transparent coatings, very resistant to mechanical damage, are applied to the inner surface of the lenses - F2 and F3:

  • “Fog Free” (F2) - “no condensation”;
  • “Fog Free Forever” (F3) - “forever without condensation.”

These coatings prevent fogging, moisture condensation, and if this occurs, they accelerate the process of its evaporation from the surface of the filter. The F3 version is more durable and has better anti-fog performance.

O-MATTER™

O-MATTER is a nylon that is highly flexible and at the same time durable. It does not lose its elasticity in severe frost, when other plastics “tann”.

In addition to this material, Oakley mask frames use flexible, frost-resistant urethane. On a frame made from a combination of these two materials, two layers of foam of different densities are attached around the perimeter from the inside. In general, the entire design ensures that the mask maintains its shape and ventilation, a tight and uniform fit, and also absorbs the resulting mechanical impacts and shock loads during falls and collisions of the rider, further protecting the area of the face around the eyes.

OAKLEY MASK FRAMES

The inner surface of Oakley frames always has a matte texture. This is done in order to completely eliminate reflected glare inside the mask.

In Oakley mask frames, the thickness of the material from which they are made is not uniform. Thanks to this, the design of the masks is very light, the masks themselves are very flexible and they easily restore their shape after deformation. The pressure of the mask on the face is evenly distributed along the entire contour of the frame. At the same time, the frames of the masks have a certain rigidity, and it is sufficient so that riders, for example, do not experience any difficulties when changing lenses.

Along the inner contour of Oakley ski frames, where they come into contact with the face, on top of two layers of foam of varying densities, a thin layer of comfortable, soft fleece is glued in, which absorbs sweat that appears in warm weather or after intense skiing, which reduces the likelihood of water vapor condensation (fogging) on the inside of the lens.

Most Oakley winter mask frames feature specially designed mask strap attachment points that allow the goggles to remain snug and evenly pressed against the face when worn over a helmet. The strap itself is equipped with one or more strips of silicone, which prevent it from slipping off the helmet during active movement or when the mask is lifted onto the forehead.

100% protection from all types of harmful ultraviolet radiation.

From UVA - ultraviolet radiation (long waves)

UVA rays reach us in any weather, even with very dense clouds, in any climate zone.

From UVB - ultraviolet radiation (medium waves)

These are mid-wave ultraviolet radiation. A small amount of it penetrates the ozone layer, accounting for less than 10% of all ultraviolet radiation that reaches the Earth's surface. Some of them are absorbed by clouds, and the other part by the ozone layer. UVB rays are most active from 10 am to 4 pm and very little pass through cloud cover.

This type of radiation causes skin aging, sunburn, immune system suppression, DNA damage and skin cancer.

From UVC - ultraviolet radiation (very short waves)

UV rays reach us to the smallest extent from the Sun through the atmosphere, but, nevertheless, they still reach the Earth and are harmful to the human eye.

PLUTONITE

All Oakley mask lenses are made from proprietary Plutonite material. This patented optical polycarbonate material produces lenses that are crystal clear, optically flawless, yet impact and wear resistant. The material eliminates any, even minimal, refraction of the image, which means your eyes will not have to work hard to compensate for the resulting visual distortion.

Plutonite 100% blocks all types of ultraviolet radiation - UVA, UVB, UVC and harmful blue light.

All Oakley lenses made from Plutonite are certified to the ANSI Z87.1 optical industrial test system, which was designed specifically to evaluate the protective properties of optics against mechanical damage. The main objective of this test is to exclude any impact on the eye by a foreign object.

Oakley is the only company in the world whose products have successfully passed all ANSI tests along with military optics. Similar tests are not carried out for any other sports glasses in the world!

LEXAN

Premium, durable polycarbonate from which Oakley cylindrical lenses are made, which are installed in the junior line of masks. Lexan is highly optically correct, flexible and durable.

XYZ OPTICS

Specially shaped XYZ Optics lenses for optical correctness in all three coordinates: horizontal, vertical and depth. Masks designed with XYZ Optics® technology provide a wide viewing angle for the wearer. A person wearing such glasses improves the quality of their “peripheral vision.” He does not need to turn his head to see anything better, since the “picture” is ideal when directing his gaze to any point on the glasses. A person wears such a mask as if it is not on his face.

PRESCRIPTION EYEWEAR COMPATIBLE

Specially shaped masks that allow easy use of ophthalmic glasses. Compatible with any form of ophthalmic glasses, without compromising comfort and image quality.

What materials are used to make gloves

The materials used to make tactical gloves vary. Moreover, they are all characterized by increased strength and resistance to various types of negative influences.

Non-flammable synthetic materials. Kevlar can be such a material. Tactical gloves made of synthetics are well suited for daily use under the most difficult conditions. They successfully combine the advantages of leather and fabric models.

Genuine Leather. Leather gloves protect the surface of the hand from possible damage. This material is characterized by increased strength and resistance to various negative factors. Among other things, leather gloves are easy to clean.

It should be emphasized that natural leather takes a very long time to dry, so using such gloves in wet weather is not a practical solution.

Cotton fabric. First of all, the fabric variation of tactical gloves attracts with its loyal price level. Products made from this material are distinguished by good ventilation and extreme strength. However, it should be noted that the service life of such gloves may be minimal. Especially if used frequently.

Faux leather. This material is almost in no way inferior to natural leather. Moreover, in certain characteristics it significantly surpasses it. Synthetic leather is most often used in combined variations of gloves. The presence of artificial leather inserts at the point of contact of the product with the weapon prevents slipping during further use.

When playing airsoft you need to take care of your equipment, and the first thing you need is to buy an airsoft mask. It protects the face and head from damage that can be caused by a plastic ball. Grenades are an indispensable attribute for tactical games. Here you can watch a video about all airsoft grenades, how they work and how to make them yourself.

Materials

They are made from elastic polymers, as well as synthetic textiles that are highly resistant to combustion. The combination of materials can be completely different.

Textiles that are used to make equipment require special attention. The most common and proven ones are Kevlar and Nomex. The latter is a heat-resistant and durable material. It is highly resistant to radiation and chemical influences. Nomex is also suitable for long-term use at high temperatures up to 260 degrees Celsius. If the material from which tactical gloves are made is Kevlar, then this is a heat-resistant and very durable product. It is 5 times stronger than steel.

Review of manufacturers

When choosing tactical gloves, you should take into account not only the performance characteristics of the product. It is also recommended to take into account the reputation of the manufacturer that offers such products. Below are the variations of gloves that are most popular.
