Lada Largus spark plugs are a very important element of the ignition system of a domestic station wagon. Not only reliable engine starting in the cold season, but also stable engine operation, fuel consumption, dynamics and many other factors depend on timely replacement and correct selection of spark plugs.
As you know, over the years Largus has been equipped with K7M, K4M, 11189 and 21129 engines. Let's figure out what spark plugs are installed on these engines and how to change them. Let's start with the most modern, in my opinion, engine 21129 1.6 liter 16-valve.
Spark plugs Lada Largus 16 valves 1.6 internal combustion engine 21129 article
The 16-valve engine 21129 Lada Largus is equipped with spark plugs with article number 21120-3707010-86. These spark plugs are originally produced by Lada-Image CJSC.
Replacing spark plugs Lada Largus 21129
Changing spark plugs on a 16 valve Lada Largus engine is not difficult. You will need 10-15 minutes of free time.
Since the 21129 engine is equipped with individual ignition coils, you will have to remove them to replace the spark plugs.
1. Open the hood and remove the contact chips from the ignition coils. This is done very simply. Simply clamp the latch and pull the contact up.
2. Using a 10″ socket, unscrew the 4 bolts securing the ignition coils. Newer models may have Torx bolts installed.
3.Take out the coils. They may come out with force. Therefore, you may have to pry them off with a screwdriver.
4. Using a 16″ spark plug wrench, unscrew 4 spark plugs one by one.
A little advice! If the spark plug remains in the spark plug well, it can be pulled out using a reel. We just put a coil on the candle and lift it up.
5. We install new ones in place. Before installing new spark plugs, it is advisable to lubricate the threads with graphite lubricant to avoid sticking of the spark plugs in the future.
6. Put everything back together in reverse order.
What spark plugs are installed on Largus
A note about what spark plugs are installed on the 8-valve Largus from the factory;
what spark plugs the manufacturer recommends; where you can buy original spark plugs at an affordable price. The first 15 thousand on my Gus are long gone. And this is the mileage at which the car undergoes its first maintenance. At the same time, one of the mandatory service work was the replacement of spark plugs. The procedure is not complicated and took me no more than 20 minutes.
But before that the question arose: “What replacement candles should I buy?” Having opened the hood and unscrewing one of the spark plugs, I found out that my 8 valve valve has two-pin spark plugs Eyquem (RFC58LZ2E), made in France. The gap between the electrodes is 0.95 mm (± 0.05 mm). The country of manufacture “Made in France” is indicated on the case.
Here is a photo of one of them:
Where can I buy?
One of the large Moscow online stores, from whose catalog I select spare parts for Largus, gave me the following information on candles:
- Article 224013682R — spark plug for 8 cells Lada Largus (7700500168), 2 electrodes, Romania, original
- Article 224018651R — spark plug for 16 cl Lada Largus (replacement 7700500155), 1 electrode, France, original
I ordered according to the first article, i.e. 224013682R. The purchased candles corresponded to the original ones, with the only difference being that the country of their manufacture was Russia. Information about this is indicated on the packaging. On the body of the spark plug itself are indicated: letter markings of the Renault company, alphanumeric code. Country not specified.
This is what the packaging of candles 224013682R looks like:
And here's the candle itself:
I installed these spark plugs after the first maintenance. I also continue to use them at every scheduled replacement. There are already four technical inspections under my belt. The mileage has exceeded 60 thousand. The flight is normal.
The only question I have left is, what kind of spark plugs come under article number 7700500168 (7700500155)? Maybe just the original French ones? I'll try to buy one of these someday and find out what kind of animal it is.
Factory recommendations
If we contact the manufacturer directly, he redirects us to the operating manual and service book of the car, where not a word is said about spark plugs. To top it off, he sends it to the dealer.
If you look at the Largus manual, then for the K7J and K7M engines Champion RYCLC87 and SAGEM RFN58LZ spark plugs are recommended, and without division into 8-cl and 16-cl.

Replacing spark plugs for Lada Largus on an 8-valve engine 11189
The 8-valve 11189 engine is equipped with spark plugs with article number 21110-3707010-86. These are original factory spark plugs, sold in a set of 4 pieces. packaged.
The 8-valve engine 11189 Lada Largus is equipped with a common ignition module and high-voltage wires.
To replace, we only need a 21″ spark plug wrench.
We will start the replacement with the spark plug of the first cylinder. Remove the cap of the explosive wire from the spark plug and use a spark plug wrench to unscrew the spark plug.
1. Screw the new spark plug into place and tighten it. Before installation, it is advisable to lubricate the threaded connection with graphite lubricant so that the spark plug does not “stick” during the next replacement.
2. Put the cap back in place.
3. We perform a similar procedure with the remaining three spark plugs.
Spark plug diagnostics
Carrying out competent diagnostics helps not only in this situation. Even analyzing the color of the insulator of the working part of the spark plug can tell a lot of interesting things. If it is gray or tan, then this is evidence of normal engine functioning. When darkening, even blackness, is observed, deposits have taken place, indicating a too cold heat range or a decrease in vacuum.
The presence of wet deposits indicates damage to the head gasket or wear of the removable ring. In many ways, everything depends on the composition of the deposits, determining the nature of which can prevent a decline in the driving capabilities of the Lada Largus.
- formation of all kinds of deposits;
- erosion phenomena;
- crumbling, splitting or destruction of the insulator;
- excessive fuel consumption;
- Misfire or difficulty starting the engine.
Replacing spark plugs Lada Largus K4M
Those owners who own a Lada Largus with a 16-valve French K4M engine often experience problems with the selection of spark plugs. There are often cases when incorrectly selected K4M spark plugs led to errors and unstable engine operation.
Factory spark plugs for the K4M engine have part number 224018651R. Produced by gjl, htyljv Renault and sold 1 piece in a branded box. Next we will tell you how to replace these spark plugs.
The spark plugs on the K4M Lada Largus engine are changed in the same way as our 16-valve 21129.
1. Disconnect the connectors from the ignition coils.
2. Using an 8″ socket, unscrew the 4 bolts securing the coils and move them to the side.
3. Take out the ignition coils and use a 16″ spark plug wrench to unscrew all 4 spark plugs.
4. Reinstall all 4 spark plugs, having previously lubricated the threads with a special lubricant.
Which spark plugs are suitable for a 16 cl K4M engine?
If you have a Lada Largus with a 16 valve engine, the original Renault spark plugs 7700500155 will suit you. The official analogues of these spark plugs are Motrio 224018651R. If you can’t buy such candles from us, you can get by with analogues from other manufacturers:
- BOSCH FR 7 LDC+ 0242235668 price from 600 rubles per set
- DENSO K20TT K20TT#4 price per set from 550 rub.
- CHAMPION RC87YCL
- SAGEM RFN58LZ
The above spark plugs are suitable for a 1.6 16 cl engine. K4M 102 (105) hp To replace the spark plugs, we need a spark plug wrench with a size of 16 and a socket with a size of 8 in order to unscrew the ignition coils.
The difference between replacing spark plugs on 16-cl and 8-cl engines is that on 16-valve engines each spark plug has a separate ignition coil, and on 8-valve engines there is only one coil. Also, spark plugs have different potassium numbers, plug types, diameters and gaps.
Replacing spark plugs on an 8-valve Largus with a K7M Renault engine
On the 8-valve Renova unit, the spark plugs are the same as on the 11189 engine.
1. Remove the tips of the high-voltage wires from the spark plugs. If you remove all the wires at once, remember or mark which one comes from where. Or you can change one candle at a time. In this case, the risk of mixing up the wires is minimal.
2. Using a 16″ spark plug wrench, unscrew the old spark plug and install a new spark plug, having previously lubricated it with copper or graphite grease.
3. We put on the tip of the wire.
By the way, I completely forgot to give the article. You can order candles for K7M by number 7700500252. You can also select analogues using this antique.
Purpose of candles
The only functional purpose of these consumables is to generate a spark. It occurs due to the discharge between the electrodes of the product. By means of the generated spark, the mixture present at a certain moment in the combustion chamber in a compressed state is ignited. This is the basis for the principle of movement of a car equipped with an internal combustion engine Lada Largus.
Over time, the ignition elements wear out the electrodes, which causes interruptions in spark formation. Also, due to incorrect mixture formation, the working elements become overgrown with carbon deposits, which leads to a deterioration in the quality of the spark. A power unit suffering from oil leakage through the oil reflective caps can provoke the formation of plaque on the insulators, which is a harmful factor for these products.
The most common signs of failure include:
- difficult cold start of the Lada Largus engine, especially in winter;
- interruptions at idle, as well as misfires in all modes of crankshaft rotation;
- uncertain acceleration dynamics;
- increased fuel consumption.
Such significant symptoms force Lada Largus owners to regularly check the condition of these consumables and clean them.
