How to turn off the aps alarm on a car without a key fob so that the engine starts

Where is

The location of the Jack is indicated in the car manual. If the car was taken by hand, the seller must show the buyer where the button is located.

There is a saying: if you want to catch a criminal, think like him. Consider where you would look first. And don't forget to bring a flashlight.

Valet secret places:

  • under the driver's seat;
  • under or in the glove compartment;
  • under the ashtray;
  • in the area of the permanent brake lever;
  • near the ignition switch.

One day my key fob malfunctioned. I knew about the Jack button, but had no idea where it was. I had to rummage through the roar of the machine in all the secret places. It’s good that I found it quickly, otherwise passers-by began to look askance at me as if I was a swindler.

Do you know where the Valet button is located in your car?

Why the key fob doesn't work

If the alarm goes off and the key fob doesn't work, is it even possible to get inside the car and turn off the system? Yes, this is mostly possible for the car owner if he knows or remembers some of the nuances of his alarm system. That is, you shouldn’t panic right away, even if the control panel breaks down.

It wouldn’t hurt to figure out exactly why the key fob might fail.

How to activate Valet mode

  1. Open the car door with the standard key.
  2. While the siren is loud, turn the ignition on/off.
  3. Enter the first digit of the PIN code and repeat the ignition manipulations, then the second and so on until you have entered the entire PIN code.

If everything is done correctly, the siren will turn off. Now you can safely start the car.

Important. Installers rarely bother with complex passwords. Usually it's 1-1-1-1. The PIN code can be reprogrammed to suit you.

Where to hide

When hiding Jack from prying eyes, remember some rules:

  • hide it where you can easily get it;
  • hide it so that no one will guess where it is;
  • the button is small, so it shouldn’t fall through anywhere;
  • The orange wire gives away the location of the button, so make it as inconspicuous as possible.

Important. The first two rules are completely opposite to each other, so think carefully before hiding the Jack.

All ways to turn off the alarm in a car without a key fob

Anti-theft systems have become a part of our lives. Currently, it is difficult to imagine any modern car that is devoid of this useful option. From year to year, manufacturers of the presented systems offer motorists more and more new developments that are strikingly different from their previous analogues.

Having undergone dramatic changes, car security systems become virtually invulnerable to lovers of easy money. But, at the same time, with the advent of such new products on the automotive market, motorists sometimes face a number of problems regarding the use of such protective equipment.

For example, situations arise when the anti-theft system fails and it becomes necessary to disable it without the key fob. This article is devoted to this problem.

Causes of car alarm malfunctions

If there are installed anti-theft systems, electrical equipment is responsible for blocking the engine start. Immobilizers or car alarms may be faulty and cause constant or occasional failures during operation. It should be added that the severity of the problem will depend not on the specific model or brand of car, but on the complexity of the installed anti-theft security system.

The main sign of problems with the alarm is that a working engine does not start or stalls immediately after starting. The engine may not respond to starting from the key fob, and may not start with the key. This means that the system has performed a partial or complete blocking.

First of all, carefully study the displayed icons on the alarm key fob. A common cause of blocking is accidental activation of additional functions. It is also necessary to monitor the readings of the LED indicator light (if equipped) in the vehicle interior, which serves as a light indicator of the alarm status. Flashing LED lamps in most cases indicate that the anti-theft function of the immobilizer is activated in the menu.

If, after turning the key in the lock and turning on the ignition, the warning lamp blinks frequently (for example, the StarLine car alarm) before starting the engine, and a pictogram with the inscription “immo” is displayed on the key fob itself:

  1. One way to solve the problem is to remove the key from the lock, after which you just need to press the button to open the central door lock on the key fob.
  2. You can also get out of the car, set the alarm to security mode, then disarm it and then start the engine.

In other words, you need to make sure that the alarm operates in the normal mode that is familiar to the owner. Up to 30% of cases of engine start blocking by alarms occur due to accidental changes in program settings. The driver’s task is to disable all unnecessary functions in the settings.

Places for possible installation of a push-button immo If you are unable to open the doors and start because of the alarm, and the anti-theft system does not turn off, then before unlocking the car, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the reasons.
As you know, the system should be turned off by pressing the key fob button, but if you turn off the immo and start the engine yourself it doesn’t work, you need to know for what reasons this happened:

  1. The immo may not turn off due to system failure. It happens that it is not possible to turn off the alarm in a car due to the failure of the system itself, in particular, the control unit that turns the protection on and off. The standard immobilizer could break due to natural wear and tear, but this problem is more pressing for older cars. If the device is relatively new, then it could fail due to a manufacturing defect, as well as as a result of its mechanical damage (for example, due to an accident) or moisture getting on the board.
  2. In some cases, the alarm does not turn off due to radio interference; this problem is more relevant for large cities. As a rule, in densely populated areas, the radio air is clogged with various interference created by cellular operators, factories and enterprises, as well as various buildings and structures. In this case, you can try to turn off the car alarm by reducing the range. That is, the control panel must be brought as close as possible to the antenna transmitter, control module or vehicle body.
  3. Discharge or failure of the car battery. As a result of the lack of charging, the system cannot power the anti-theft installation, as a result of which the latter goes into locking mode. In this case, you need to check the battery charge; to do this, you can turn on the ignition and watch the operation of the dashboard. If the device lights up and turns off or does not start working at all, then most likely the reason lies in the battery.
  4. No power to the remote control. In some cases, disabling the immobilizer is impossible due to a dead battery in the key fob or a breakdown of the remote control as a whole. If the remote control is equipped with a LED indicator that flashes red, then most likely it is time to replace the battery. If you have a key fob with two-way communication, then information about the need to replace the battery should appear on its display.

What causes a car security system to break down?

Any system that includes individual elements is subject to wear and tear during operation. Anti-theft systems are by no means exceptions. Emergency situations often arise that make the car owner seriously nervous.

Within the framework of the problem presented, it would be quite appropriate to make a small digression. You need to understand that the uninterrupted operation of a car’s protective systems depends on a number of factors. At the forefront is comprehensive systematic maintenance and care of the elements of this device.

A sudden failure of the alarm system can be caused by various reasons.

The most common among them:

  1. The key fob battery is low;
  2. Mechanical wear of key fob keys;
  3. Oxidation of conductive elements;
  4. Failure of power supply to the alarm control unit;
  5. The corresponding fuse has blown.

In the practice of using anti-theft systems, there are often cases when the cause of an alarm failure is a banal discharge of the key fob/remote battery. To fix the problem, you simply need to replace the battery.

This operation itself should not cause any particular difficulties. The only thing you should pay attention to is the sequence of further actions after changing the battery.

It is important to remember that in order to reactivate the system, in cases with anti-theft devices, you will need to perform some actions.

In some cases, it is necessary to press the door closing and opening button 6 times. To learn more about the presented algorithm, please read the manual.

Prolonged and careless use of the alarm key fob can lead to its controls simply losing their functionality. To a greater extent, this problem affects the keys for opening and closing doors, due to the highest frequency of their use. This situation will require its owner to repair the key fob or replace it, followed by the procedure for registering it in the system memory.

Violation of the tightness of the working elements of the alarm panel can lead to moisture getting inside it. Among other things, the keychain can be accidentally dropped into a puddle, etc. Moisture that gets inside leads to oxidation of the contact elements and prevents the passage of current through them.

Thus, the buttons stop responding when pressed. In this case, it will be necessary to disassemble the key followed by an inspection of all conductive elements.

The cause of the alarm malfunction may be a disruption in the power supply to the control unit. To exclude this cause from the list of probable malfunctions, you need to arm yourself with a multimeter. With its help, you should check the wires for breaks, and also make sure that the required voltage is present at the underwater terminals.

A faulty alarm system can become a problem for a car owner. In the above-mentioned cases, you can solve the problem yourself, or return the car to serviceability in order to get to a service center to repair the system. However, if you are not sure of your actions, contact an official service center. Rash actions can lead to even greater damage to the car.

Ways to turn off the alarm

Emergency shutdown of the anti-theft system provides a number of alternative methods and techniques that will help the car owner emerge victorious from this situation.

So, let's look at the most effective methods for de-energizing a car's protective systems in various circumstances.

From keychain

The most simplified option in this case involves using a standard key fob. If the main remote control has died for a long time, you can always use a spare one, if available. Disabling the alarm using it involves the same actions as when using a standard remote device.

Difficulties arise when the location of the spare key fob is unknown. This state of affairs forces the driver to resort to other, more radical methods of solving the problem.

By de-energizing

The presented method of deactivating the anti-theft system includes a number of operational actions. Namely:

  • disconnecting the battery terminal;
  • de-energizing/dismantling the ignition switch control wire;
  • dismantling the blocking relay.

It is worth noting that in some cases finding a power relay is not an easy task. Often, for safety reasons, when installing an alarm system, the relays are located in hard-to-reach places

Using a secret button

Emergency shutdown of the anti-theft system involves the use of a so-called secret button called “Valet”. Activating it allows you to transfer the system to the so-called service mode.

If the owner has difficulty finding it, just find the control indicator - a flickering red light. This treasured button is also installed somewhere in the immediate vicinity.

So, the sequence of actions in this case is as follows:

  • de-energize the car by disconnecting the “+” terminal of the battery;
  • turn off the power to the sound siren;
  • put the terminal in its rightful place;
  • set the key to the “KZ” position;
  • make one click on the Valet button;
  • turn off the ignition.

The presented procedure for different types of anti-theft systems is strikingly different. In some cases, to obtain the desired result, it is necessary to make up to 6 short presses on the specified button.

In any case, before adopting this technique, it is advisable to read in detail the instructions for a specific type of alarm.

Coding

Another trick for car enthusiasts is the so-called coding. Its essence lies in the fact that to unlock the anti-theft system, you must enter a special code.

The presented procedure consists of the following steps:

  • turning off the siren;
  • circuit closure “short circuit”;
  • activation of the service button;
  • turning off the ignition.

Depending on how many symbols a particular PIN code contains, the above procedure is repeated for the same number of times. The PIN code is entered by pressing the service button. So, to enter 4, you need to press 4 times, etc.

Platform trailer for a passenger car: design options

On some cars, thanks to the alarm, the engine does not start. That is, it is unlikely that you will be able to leave the scene and head to the service center on your own. We need to look for alternative ideas. Now, when the car is quietly standing in the yard, you can watch the visual videos and study the features of turning off the alarm without a remote control if it suddenly breaks down. But it is better to have certain knowledge and skills in advance. To do this, you at least need to study the operating manual for your particular alarm.

There are a huge number of security systems. Take the same security system from Starline as an example. And their range is regularly expanding. This is good and bad at the same time. But that’s not about that now.

This is the situation. The alarm works and annoys everyone around you, including you. The key fob does not respond to any pressing. What to do?

There are several basic ways to disable the security system remotely. Let's take a closer look at them. Step by step it looks like this:

  • Transfer to maintenance mode. For this purpose, many systems have a special secret button, the location of which only the driver should know;
  • Translation algorithm. Each system has its own. Usually it is written in the operating manual of the alarm system itself, or of the car, if the security system comes from the factory;
  • Most often, the algorithm is based on sequentially turning on and off the ignition in parallel with pressing a secret button;
  • Pin. There are systems where the protection is even more complex. Then you need to use a special code that the driver must know and remember. Some manufacturers send a code as an SMS message to the client’s phone;
  • I can’t find the button, I don’t remember the PIN code. Sometimes it happens. Here you will have to open the hood and completely turn off the power supply. Try to disconnect the wires from the bell, that is, the source of the sound of your security system;
  • If this does not work, try removing the fuse. It is usually located near the alarm unit. On some cars there is no fuse, but a relay. It is more difficult to dismantle.

I cannot guarantee that all the methods described above will work. There are extremely sophisticated alarms designed to provide maximum protection. With them you won't even be able to open the hood.

Therefore, the objectively best solution in such a situation would be to contact the service department of the company that produces the alarm, or to those who installed it on your car.

Disconnection problem

You must clearly understand that there are no universal instructions for all alarms to disable them without a working key fob. Without knowing your personal code or not remembering the location of the secret button, you significantly complicate the solution to an already serious problem.

Try to study the operation of your security system in detail and remember the most important information. For example, in the case of Starline alarms, shutdown is carried out using the Valet button, while competitors’ shutdown algorithm may turn out to be completely different.

But I recommend choosing only reliable and proven systems. These include:

  • Starline;
  • Alligator;
  • Tomahawk;
  • Panther;
  • Magikar;
  • Sherkhan;
  • Sheriff, etc.

If you are faced with a situation where you cannot turn off the alarm yourself, and you have no experience in such matters, do not proceed by trial and error. This is especially true for manipulations in the engine compartment. By pulling out the wrong cable or touching some important components, you yourself can provoke a major overhaul of the motor. It's not worth the risk. It's better to contact specialists.

How to disable alarm systems from various companies yourself

A wide range of anti-theft systems does not allow adhering to a universal method of emergency alarm shutdown.

The fact is that almost each of them has characteristic features unique to it. Let's look at methods for deactivating car security systems presented by popular brands in Russia.

Starline

If we are dealing with the Staline alarm system, we should adhere to the following sequence of actions:

  • enter the cabin and take the driver’s seat;
  • turn the key to the “KZ” position;
  • after no more than 6 seconds, press the service button;
  • hold the button in the on position until the beep sounds;
  • return the key to its original position;
  • alarm is disabled.

Pandora disabling tag

The Pandora alarm system contains: an application on a smartphone, key fobs, a tag, a relay with digital coding, which complicates the search for the central unit and its removal. The main difference between Pandora dxl 3000, 3500, 5000 series and alarm systems such as Starline and Sherkhan is the presence of a radio relay. The radio relay provides two-level identification of the owner (in addition to the alarm key fob, an immobilizer tag is also used), and significantly complicates the life of car thieves.

Since the Pandora radio relay housing is well protected from moisture, it is often placed under the hood, further complicating unauthorized entry. To control Pandora, you can download an application to your smartphone that allows you to start the car from a fairly large distance. In an emergency, there is an emergency way to disable the immobilizer tag, for example, if you have lost the tag, or if there is no tag within the system’s coverage area, you must have the Pandora application in your smartphone, a service code, and of course, find the emergency shutdown Valet button.

Attention - first - check the battery supply voltage in the Pandora tag, or change the power supply.

If the application installed on your smartphone shows that the Pandora radio tag is not within range, you can try to disable the tag using the application and a service card with a PIN code; you will also need the Valet service button for this.
