General recommendations for replacement are simple. When the volume is indicated (example from 1l - 1.2l), it is necessary to measure the amount of drained, used oil and fill in the same amount of new oil (if there were no oil leaks). This diagram is applicable if there is no dipstick in the gearbox or a mark at which level to fill.

Usually all this information is well documented in the vehicle maintenance book. But there are exceptions to the rules; not all manufacturers indicate the filling volume in the service book.

Functions of motor oil

Initially, it was intended to lubricate the mechanism in order to facilitate the movement of parts and reduce friction between them. Modern lubricating components, in addition to this function, perform an additional one, which is to flush the engine from various contaminants.

When changing the engine oil, all dirt, as well as chips obtained during engine operation, are drained from the crankcase, and new lubricant is poured into their clean place, which ensures the protection of all engine components. It seals the piston rings to prevent exhaust gases from escaping into the crankcase.

In order for the lubricating element to better perform its functions, it is necessary to pour it into the unit for which it is intended. Duster has two types of engines. Let's consider each case separately.

Sequence of work for changing the oil in a Renault Duster engine

Before starting work, we will prepare the car engine, i.e. warm it up to operating temperature. Then, in order to avoid negative pressure in the system, which is formed when draining the oil, we unscrew the filler cap on the engine.

To make access to the oil filter easier, immediately remove the fuel rail cover; unscrewing it is not difficult; it is secured with two 13-point bolts. You don’t have to do this, but then getting to the oil filter will be inconvenient, and you will have to wash your hands more often.

Next, we lift the car on a lift, and for those who don’t, we use the usual pit, the main thing is to get free and convenient access to the bottom of the car.

The motor protection has a factory hole for access to the drain plug, but it is better to remove the protection. Firstly, the oil will splash it, and secondly, it will be much more convenient to get there in a traffic jam.

Moreover, this will take a little time; unscrew several 10-point bolts located around the perimeter of the protection. The only difficulty is that several bolts are hidden under the bumper, so you will have to unscrew its lower mounts.

Take a container for the old oil and unscrew the drain plug of the oil pan using a 8-square.

After the main volume of engine oil has been drained, only a small trickle remains, we change the container to a smaller one and get ready to remove the car from the lift (if you used one).

We do not immediately remove the new container so that the remaining oil from all the hidden corners of the engine flows into it.

Now let's start removing the oil filter. This is done with a special or universal puller.

When unscrewing the oil filter, the drain plug must be unscrewed. And the filter must be unscrewed carefully, but with force, if it was screwed on at a service center. Their employees tighten the filters with all their hearts.

After unscrewing, some amount of oil will leak out of the oil filter (not very much), so prepare a container or rag. A rag is also needed to wipe the oil filter seat.

The oil needs to be given a little time to leave the engine. It’s better to do something else at this time or go for coffee. Complete drainage of the oil can be determined by the fact that it begins to slowly drip into the container. This means that you can tighten the crankcase drain plug.

Important! It is not recommended to use an old sealing gasket on the drain plug! This is a one-time thing. The old gasket does not provide a proper seal.

Even if you had to reuse it, be prepared for the oil to start dripping.

After this, you can put the engine protection in place. The places from which the bolts were recently unscrewed should be clearly visible. And further! Try to carefully purchase spare parts (in this case, filter and oil), many fakes have appeared on the market.

Since the filter in Duster is screwed on horizontally, there is no need to fill it completely with oil; lubricate the O-ring. After this, the oil filter is ready for installation. We tighten it with the same “device” that we unscrewed.

After this, we install the fuel rail cap, and all that remains is to fill in fresh oil (one of the oil options can be seen above), and the engine is ready to go. The volume of oil that is poured into the Duster engine is 5.4 liters.

After the oil is filled, check its level on the dipstick. First immediately, on a cold one, and then on a slightly warmed one, about 5 minutes after turning it off.

How much and what kind of oil to pour into Renault Duster

Oil filling volume for gasoline engines (with filter):

  • K4M with a volume of 1.6 will be 4.8 l;
  • F4R with a volume of 2.0 will be equal to 5.4 liters.

As for the oil, which is diesel K9K, its volume will be 4.5 liters

.

In our case, we will fill the Duster engine with a 1.6 liter engine with 4.9 liters to the maximum mark on the dipstick.

To correctly determine the type of oil to be filled, you need to look at the data in the service book.

The manufacturer has determined lubrication standards for gasoline engines

. They must be no lower than API: SL; SM; SJ or ACEA A2 or A3 and with SAE viscosity level: 5W30; 5W40; 5W50; 0W30; 0W40, 15W40; 10W40; 5W40; 15W50. The selection of engine oil is carried out depending on the temperature operating conditions of the vehicle.

For diesel unit K9K

it is necessary to pour the recommended Renault RN0720 oil or suitable analogues of ELF Solaris DPF 5W-30, MOTUL Specific 0720 5W-30 lubricant. If the car is driven with a particulate filter, then it is recommended to fill it with 5W-30, and if not, then 5W-40.

For our 1.6 gasoline engine, as well as for the 2.0 engine, the suitable lubricant is ELF EVOLUTION 900 SXR 5W30.

Necessary tools and materials for oil change

List of what is needed for work:

Catalog numbers of consumables for oil change:

The original ELF Evolution SXR 5W-30 engine oil, 5 liter filling canister, article number - 194839, will cost about 1,800 rubles.

Original oil filter for Renault gasoline engine 8200768913. Price 230 rubles. Analogues:

MANN-FILTER W753 – 240 rubles, Francecar FCR210134 – 120 rubles.

You can also replace the original gasket for the drain plug - Renault 110265505R costs 18 rubles and an adapter for the Renault oil filter 8200898800 costs 350 rubles.

The price of spare parts is relevant for the fall of 2017 for Moscow and the region.

We change the oil and filter. First, remove the oil filler cap.

We go under the car and remove the engine protection.

Use a 8-square to loosen the drain plug, then you can unscrew it manually. Place a pre-prepared container underneath and drain the used oil. It is recommended to change the oil only when the engine is warm, so you need to be extremely careful here, since the oil is hot.

Let's examine the puck. If it is damaged, it must be completely replaced. Also, if necessary, change the gasket on the drain plug, since it can become flattened during use. Next, when the oil has completely drained, tighten the drain plug.

Let's start replacing the filter. First, unscrew the fuel rail protection; it is secured with two nuts.

Lubrication is an essential component of almost any mechanism. A car whose engine must always be filled with lubricant is no exception. The service life of the power plant depends on the quality and brand of this component. Therefore, for many Renault Duster car owners, is it best to fill the engine with oil? We will try to explain in detail what functions it performs and answer the main question of car owners.

Coolant for RENAULT DUSTER

The manufacturer recommends using antifreeze with the following composition: based on monoethylene glycol and corrosion inhibitors using organic OAT technology with a long service life. Does not contain amines or phosphates. The color of the original antifreeze (yellow), but it is not as important as the composition described above.

The replacement interval for such antifreeze is 250 thousand kilometers or 5 years, whichever ends first.

In all models, the volume of the cooling system is 5.45 liters.
