Israeli “Kalashnikov” and Russian “Soratniki”: new ARMS & Hunting 2020

From September 29 to October 2, the 13th Moscow international exhibition “ARMS & Hunting” was held in Gostiny Dvor. “Weapons and Hunting 2016” occupied a noticeably smaller area compared to previous years. The difficult foreign policy situation and the regime of anti-Russian sanctions had an impact. This did not allow many traditional participants of the Moscow exhibition to take part in it or present their expositions in full.

On the other hand, the reduction of exhibition space made the new exhibits more visible. Without attempting to write a complete catalog of “Weapons and Hunting 2016,” we will only talk about three new weapons that seemed to us the most interesting. Conventionally, all of them can be united by the idea “Do you want success? Don't reinvent the wheel!

No bike needed

Borrowing successful design discoveries and refining already proven schemes has long been an integral part of creating any workable design. It is not surprising that a successful weapon design can last a very, very long time. Take the Kalashnikov assault rifle, for example. Adopted by the Soviet army back in the late 40s of the last century, its design continues to successfully serve around the world in the form of countless clones and updated designs created on the basis of previous designs, which, of course, were created on the basis of... Well , did you understand.

In practice, a whimsical chain of degenerations, continuations and clonings of one design may look like this. 1949 - the 7.62 mm AK-47 assault rifle appears in the USSR. 1962 - based on the design of the “forty-seventh”, the 7.62 mm Valmet Rk.62 assault rifle was created and put into service in Finland. 1973 - based on the Valmet Rk.62 assault rifle, the 5.56 mm IMI Galil AR assault rifle is created and adopted in Israel. Later, this rifle was replaced in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) by the American M16 and M14, and then by the Israeli bullpups IMI Tavor TAR-21. But the experience of refining the Kalash in the Promised Land was not forgotten.

On January 20, at the Shot Show 2020 weapons exhibition held in Las Vegas, America, an assault rifle called the AK-Alfa, developed over two years by the Israeli company Command Arms & Acessories (CAA) with the participation of former IDF soldiers, debuted.

Thomas McCrossin, CEO of the local Kalashnikov subsidiary . “Add to this the maximum adaptation of the weapon to the shooter plus efficiency, and you will already have the AK of tomorrow in your hands today!”

Indeed, the usual features of a Kalashnikov assault rifle were difficult to discern in the futuristic-looking new assault rifle. Rather, the “Alpha” resembled the American modular rifle Bushmaster ACR or a weapon “upgraded” with a tuning kit from the American company Magpul Industries.

Offered in two calibers - 7.62 mm and 5.56 mm - the Alpha immediately aroused great interest from both military and civilian shooters. Among domestic “couch experts” the new AKay literally caused a sensation.

Aviation technology

The Russian Helicopters holding company presented at the forum a modernized Mi-28NE attack helicopter in a new technical appearance. The improvements affected, in particular, the helicopter's support system and power plant.

The Mi-28NE was demonstrated with new Khrysantema-M anti-tank guided missiles and the ability to control drones remotely (for this purpose the helicopter is equipped with special communications equipment). “The use of this missile will increase the range of destruction of armored targets to 10 km. The helicopter also received upgraded Ataka guided missiles with a laser guidance system and the ability to use aerial bombs weighing up to 500 kg,” the holding reported.

Also shown at Army 2018 were modernized and Mi-35P helicopters , which received a new set of avionics.

The Mi-35P received a sighting system and a new digital flight control system. On the updated Mi-35M, it is possible to modify the helicopter to use Igla-S air-to-air guided missiles, as well as the President-S airborne defense system with a laser station for suppressing thermal homing heads of MANPADS missiles.

of the Mi-26T2V heavy helicopter with the latest avionics and defense complex was presented in the open area On the eve of the opening of the exhibition, the machine made its first flight.

“The lighting equipment of the Mi-26T2V has now been adapted for the use of night vision goggles, and new energy-absorbing crew seats have been installed in the helicopter cabin,” the press service of Russian Helicopters said. “The on-board equipment of the Mi-26T2V will make this helicopter even more efficient and reliable even when used in bad weather and difficult terrain,” said Andrey Boginsky, general director of the holding. Serial production of this helicopter will begin in 2020.

The military transport Mi-171Sh was demonstrated in the Aviation forum pavilion . Also, to the head of the military department, Sergei Shoigu, industry leaders presented the fifth-generation multirole fighter Su-57 and the supersonic fighter MiG-31BP with the Kinzhal complex.

The Mi-171Sh helicopter is equipped with standard unguided missile weapons, bomber weapons and small arms. It is also possible to use Ataka-V guided missiles, which have a range of up to 6 km.

Ergonomics + reliability

What did the Israelis do? According to published information, they took a barrel with a gas tube, receiver, bolt group and trigger parts of the Russian Saiga carbine (created on the basis of a Kalashnikov assault rifle), and then “packed” it all into a plastic case. Added: hanging trunk. plastic pistol grip with a compartment for a spare battery and with replaceable pads, double-sided “flags” of the translator-safety, rearrangeable cocking handle on either side, enlarged magazine latch lever, new DTK, folding telescopic stock with an adjustable “cheek” (with folded shooting with the butt is impossible), and on top of the receiver there is an aluminum cover with a Picatinny rail 43 cm long. This is how the AK-Alfa assault rifle turned out.

The weapon, as already mentioned, is offered in two calibers. Moreover, in the version for 7.62 mm, “Alpha” can use magazines from AKM assault rifles, and in the version for NATO caliber 5.56 mm, the new AKey can “feed” on magazines from IMI Galil. The rifle is available in two barrel lengths - 314 and 415 mm. At the moment, only the automatic version of the weapon is in the series, but in the future a self-loading version may appear for the civilian market.

Interesting detail. The weight of the main assault rifle of the Russian Armed Forces AK74M without cartridges is 3.6 kg. The AK-Alfa in the long-barreled version and without cartridges “pulls” 3.5 kg. But the “seventy-four” with the butt unfolded is slightly shorter than its Israeli counterpart - 943 mm versus 950 mm. There are some, let’s make a reservation, purely speculative doubts regarding the ease of disassembling and cleaning the Alpha compared to the classic AK...

To summarize, we can say that CAA has done a lot of work to improve the ergonomics of the Kalashnikov assault rifle, while at the same time trying to preserve its main advantages. First of all, reliability. At least that’s what the foreign press writes about Alpha. Of course, after such information I really wanted to get to know the much-hyped “Alpha” better. The “Weapons and Hunting 2016” exhibition provided its visitors with such a chance.

The Command Arms & Accessories stand was decorated with advertising brochures with the heading “The Great Heritage of Russian Armourers. AK-Alpha 2020. New era.” Combined with the fact that CAA is an Israeli company, the quoted headline gave a somewhat surreal impression. Nevertheless, it was extremely interesting to listen to the explanations that CAA Marketing Director Anton Kolomiets to the Federal News Agency .

Polymers and donation

— How legal is it for CCA to use the Kalashnikov brand?

— We are the only company outside Russia that has the legal right to use the logos of the Kalashnikov concern, and we are trying our best to live up to the trust placed in us. Still, the right to put the name of the great Russian gunsmith on your products obliges you to a lot.

— Some of the Russian audience, who for obvious reasons are familiar with the Alfa exclusively from photographs, have the impression that such extensive use of plastic in your assault rifle reduces its reliability. Is it so?

— Tell us about the unreliability of plastic to the manufacturers of the extremely popular Austrian Glock pistol, whose frame is made of heat-resistant and impact-resistant polymer... In general, the transition to polymer components is now a general global trend in the creation of small arms. If polymers are widely used in their design by Glock and FN SCAR, then why shouldn’t we use them? As a person with some professional experience, I will say that the use of polymer components in the design of the AK-Alfa is completely justified.

— Who was the main developer of AK-Alfa?

— His name is Mikhail Binorin . He is a Russian-speaking Georgian Jew with three fundamental educations, including Soviet. He has enormous combat experience. He is a lieutenant colonel in the Israeli army reserves. Mikhail is the concept designer for this weapon. He created the AK-Alfa, as they say, “for himself.” Mikhail compiled a list of what are considered shortcomings of the Kalashnikov assault rifle, and modified the product according to these items.

— What is the main idea of the AK-Alfa project?

— The Kalashnikov assault rifle was and remains relevant. He will win any wars for another 200 years. At the time of its creation, it fully met the tasks assigned to weapons developers. But in the time since then, the situation on the battlefield, let’s say, has changed somewhat. The user began to place more demands on the ability to adapt weapons specifically for themselves. We believe that, having in storage large volumes of AKs with long production dates, they can be used as donors for the creation of modern weapons based on the Kalashnikov assault rifle. Moreover, samples comparable in combat qualities, for example, to the Belgian FN SCAR rifle. By hanging the barrel, bringing the butt to the level of the bolt group and the new DTK, we achieve a noticeable improvement in accuracy and accuracy.

— As far as I understand, when using the term “donor”, you meant the example of “Saiga”, from which “Alpha” is now receiving a barrel, receiver and some other parts?

— Yes, at the moment this option is the most cost-effective for us. I should note that in the ancient Nabatean city of Kiriyat Gat we are currently completing the construction of a large enterprise that will be capable of carrying out the full production cycle of AK-Alfa. But, I repeat, at the moment the production of barrels is unprofitable for us. It’s easier and cheaper to buy them from another manufacturer.

— When looking at your product, you can immediately see how much attention was paid to ergonomics. Even such a small detail was taken into account, such as the right “flag” of the safety translator being shortened to avoid sticking into the hand.

— We tried to solve ergonomic problems to the maximum.

— In what calibers is the Alpha now mass-produced?

— Only in caliber 7.62 mm. There are also working samples for 5.56 mm and 9 mm, but they have not yet gone into production.

— What about 5.45 mm?

- No, we haven’t mastered this caliber yet.

— At the beginning of last summer, in the article “La “Kalash” israelienne s'exporte” of the French TTU bulletin, it was written that the first deliveries of AK-Alfa abroad would take place in the near future. CAA President Moshe Oz said: “Several thousand AK-Alfas have been ordered around the world,” but did not name specific countries. Did deliveries take place and if yes, then where?

— The presidential guard and special forces of the Republic of Congo are currently the proud owners of about 3,000 of our products.

Air defense systems and artillery

The Almaz-Antey Aerospace Defense Concern for the first time presented to the general public the newest anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) Buk-M3 . This modification uses a new missile, and their number is increased from four to six on one vehicle. The number of simultaneously fired targets has been increased to 36, and the destruction range has been increased to 70 km.

The Buk-M3 enters service with the Russian army. It was reported that units of the Southern Military District are being armed with the complexes. In the spring of this year, it became known that Rosoboronexport began promoting an export version - the Viking air defense system - to foreign markets.

An unconditional hit of the forum was another exhibit - the first production model of the new Sosna anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) , which will be delivered to the troops in the near future.

“The new mobile complex has successfully passed state tests and should replace the Strela-10M air defense system in the Russian army,” Rostec noted. "Sosna" ensures the destruction of targets at a range of up to 10 km and an altitude of up to 5 km at any time of the day. One combat vehicle carries 12 small-sized Sosna-R anti-aircraft missiles and is equipped with a high-precision optical-electronic control system protected from interference. The complex has a passive aiming system, which ensures its stealth. The air defense system can fire on the move.

Another interesting new product this year is the Derivatsiya-PVO self-propelled anti-aircraft gun with a 57-mm combat module.

The gun mount is designed to destroy drones, cruise missiles, air-to-surface missiles, tactical aircraft, and fire support helicopters. It was also reported that the Burevestnik Central Research Institute (part of UVZ) will produce a combat robot based on the anti-aircraft gun; the corresponding work has already been planned. According to the general director of the enterprise, Grigory Zakamennykh, modern combat vehicles, including Derivation-PVO, are initially created for automatic mode, in which the entire cycle of combat work is carried out without the participation of an operator. The operator, located outside the combat module at an automated workstation in another compartment of the vehicle, only selects the current target and gives the command to open fire.

Import substitution shock

No less than the AK-Alfa, the following two new items at the exhibition corresponded to the thesis about refusing to reinvent the wheel. It would probably be more accurate to even say that these were two main new products for professionals. A modest stand with products from the Russian Experimental Implementation Enterprise “Russian Weapon Systems and Technologies” (ROST) demonstrated... only two pistols. But what kind of pistols were they!.. There were so many people who wanted to personally touch these weapons that a whole line of them formed.

Here we need to make a small digression. For objective reasons, the production of domestic sporting small arms after 1991, to put it mildly, experienced a decline. As a result, Russian shooting athletes were forced to use weapons almost exclusively of foreign manufacture. By 2014, this had become not even a habit, but a tradition. But in 2014, reunification with Crimea took place, after which the West initiated anti-Russian sanctions, Russia responded with a call for import substitution. As part of this policy, a program has been launched to revive the Russian production of sporting small arms and ammunition. The efforts of enthusiasts were supported by the Ministry of Sports, which united the most experienced and caring specialists in shooting sports and the weapons industry in the Expert Council. The government and the military-industrial complex did not stand aside either. However, according to our ingrained habit, no one expected quick results. And they suddenly appeared in the form of models of two sports pistols demonstrated by ROST - the 9 mm Soratnik 9×19 and the 5.6 mm Soratnik SP-15. To say that these products caused a stir would be an understatement.

“Companion 9×19” in appearance was very similar to perhaps the most popular pistol for practical shooting in our country - the Czech CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow. It wouldn’t help if he didn’t resemble a “Czech” if he was created precisely on his basis with the highest degree of unification. At the same time, this “Companion” should not be considered a copy of the “Chizh”, as Russian shooters affectionately nicknamed the Czech pistol in their circle. The Russian pistol has quite serious design differences from the CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow, which, while maintaining the excellent ergonomics of the Czech pistol, significantly increase its service life and technical characteristics. For example, a milled steel frame.

The trigger is surprisingly soft, the weight distribution is not like that of the “native” Chizh, but rather like its more “advanced” Swiss reincarnation - the Sphinx pistol. Plus, there is a statement from ROST employees that they have mastered the full production cycle of their samples...

Olympic champion's opinion

During the exhibition days, a real pilgrimage began to the ROST stand. The Deputy Minister of Sports, heads of the presidential administration and government, designers and heads of enterprises of the Rostec State Corporation, titled shooters and simply shooting enthusiasts, domestic and foreign weapons manufacturers - they all visited here. The 2004 Olympic champion, five-time world champion, Honored Master of Sports of Russia Mikhail Nestruev did not let go of the SP-15 for a long time.

— Mikhail Valerievich, a lot is being said and done now to popularize shooting sports in our country. Does Russia need this sport?

— A lot is being said today on the sidelines of the Moscow arms exhibition about the current state of affairs in the shooting industry and shooting sports. They remember the Soviet era, looking at the weapons developed and still competitive in the arms market. However, it is not correct to compare Soviet times with today, since then the ability to shoot was a mandatory acquisition of shooting skills through the school programs of the GTO and NVP, which, in turn, was the impetus for the creation of the sports industry and weapons. Mass sports became a catalyst for unlocking the potential of Soviet citizens to engage in great sports and become champions.

Product of the highest level

Igor Nemov , secretary of the expert council of the Ministry of Sports and one of the initiators of the program to popularize shooting sports, agreed to answer our further questions

— Igor Aleksandrovich, it is known that the creators of the CZ 75 were Czechs - brothers Josef and Frantisek Koucki. Does the appearance of “Companion 9×19” in Russia run counter to copyright?

- No, it doesn’t. We don't copy the gun. We unify our development in accordance with the needs of shooters - why force them to retrain or purchase new equipment? In addition, the patent for the CZ 75 has long expired, so the pistol can be produced, in principle, anywhere in various variations.

— Which organizations, besides ROST, are involved in the creation of both “Companions”?

— Work on creating modern models of sporting weapons is carried out by the expert council of the Ministry of Sports with the support of the Military-Industrial Commission and within the framework of the instructions of the President and Government of the Russian Federation. The Rostec State Corporation and many private enterprises expressed their readiness to support the project. In fact, we are faced with the task of creating an engineering center within the framework of ROST that will be able to attract and adapt the most popular technologies. It will be able to stimulate the production of the best models of sporting weapons in Russia. We have enough production capabilities and talents. We will unite them and jointly create the best weapons for our shooters.

— I remember that at the ceremony honoring athletes, gunsmiths and friends of shooting sports, Dmitry Olegovich Rogozin announced the appearance of a new Russian modern sports pistol of the highest level. Should we understand that the “Companion 9×19” is this very pistol?

- Yes, you can think so. Luger caliber 9x19 mm. 18 rounds in the magazine. Ability to use magazines from Shadow, Sphinx and Tanfoglio pistols. Modernization to meet the requirements of IPSC classes, flexible adjustment of the trigger, operation in the range from -30 to +50 degrees - this is truly a pistol of the highest level.

— Does the unification of the “Companion 9×19” with the base Czech model, visible to the naked eye, have any digital expression?

— “Soratnik” and “Chizh” are almost 80% unified. Take the triggers, linings, sights and other “body kit” off our pistol right now and replace it with the “Czech”.

— Are there many foreign parts in the pistol?

— The barrel, bolt, frame, main parts are 100% ours, Russian.

— How long did it take to create Companion 9×19?

— From the first idea to the production of this prototype, it’s only a month and a half. This is based on the first meeting of our expert council in May. Most of the time was spent on “finishing” the product.

— Will the pistol be produced in only one standard configuration?

— The basic model is important for sports. But we also plan to customize it according to practical shooting classes with the possibility of using any spare parts and tuning elements produced in the world. Then there is the interest of leading coaches and shooters in developing other basic structures in our country. For example, revolvers, pistols based on the 1911 platform, etc.

— What will be the cost of “Soratnik” for practical shooting?

— As far as I remember, now the Moscow shooting complex “Object” offers to purchase the CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow for 200 thousand rubles. The price of our “Companion 9×19” will, of course, be significantly lower.

Marine projects

The Krylov Research Center presented its new development - a preliminary design of a light aircraft carrier .

According to a company representative, the new project will cost, according to preliminary estimates, almost two times cheaper than the previous concept of the Storm heavy aircraft carrier. However, the quality composition of the air wing (46 units) will be the same. From the accompanying materials it follows that the new aircraft carrier will have a total displacement of 44 thousand tons and will be able to carry up to 46 aircraft. The ship's power plant will be gas turbine.

The air group of a light aircraft carrier can consist of the same aircraft as that of a heavy one - Su-33 and MiG-29K fighters, multi-purpose and rescue helicopters, and four radar patrol aircraft.

Rostec showed a prototype of the Nerpa underwater anti-sabotage robot capable of carrying explosives and small arms.

The device is armed with an APS assault rifle. The load can also be explosives during one-time use of the device. The drone can be used to prevent violation of the boundaries of the water area, escort combat swimmers, underwater reconnaissance at a distance of up to 50 m, detect and engage targets, patrol both independently and along a given route.

The weight of the device is less than 30 kg, speed is 1 knot, power reserve is 4 hours. Immersion depth is 50 m, stable communication is provided at a distance of up to 80 m.

Return of a Legend

— “Pulevik” SP-15 — what is it specifically intended for?

“If we made the Soratnik 9×19 for practical shooting, then the SP-15 was created for sports schools and organizations. “The Fifteenth” will replace the old, long-worn models in sports schools and will allow training shooters from entry-level to master and above. SP-15 can be successfully used to perform Olympic exercises “MP-5, MP-8” and non-Olympic “MP-10” according to the rules of the International Shooting Federation.

— “Fifteenth” was created in the same time frame as your “practitioner”?

- No, before. “Fifteenth” was ready at the end of 2020 - hence the corresponding number in the name of the pistol. SP means "standard pistol". It also took a month and a half to create, but it took a very long time to develop. So that you understand, the background of the SP-15 began back in 1964.

— Was the legendary Haidur pistol used as a base?

- Yes, the IZH-HR-30 pistol was designed by Vladimir Aleksandrovich Razorenov and Efim Leonidovich Khaidurov . We honored these brilliant designers at the honoring ceremony this year. Their contribution to the domestic and world weapons school is great. We have no right to neglect it. You know, the designer is alive as long as his ideas are applied...

— Can you tell us more about the “fifteenth”?

— It is a logical development of the IZH-HR-30. It has improved mass-center characteristics, the ability to customize the weapon's automation to suit the conditions of the corresponding exercise, the ability to disassemble the pistol with one hand has been implemented, the ability to adjust the trigger mechanism and sighting devices has been improved, the recoil of the pistol is close to straight-line...

— What allows you to better control the front sight in the slot when performing high-speed exercises?

- Exactly.

— Do I understand correctly that Khaidur’s “thirty” has not been produced for a long time?

— The pistol was actually “lost” in the 90s. Now, under a different name, it is produced in Germany, and Russia does not receive anything from this production. To import the German “Haidurov” into Russia, you need to spend 250 thousand dollars, no less.

— When can we expect the mass release of both “Companions”?

— By the middle of next year. Until this moment, both models in several versions will undergo various tests. We will try to work as closely as possible with our shooters and coaches during them.

— What are the reviews about your samples?

— According to leading Russian shooters and gunsmiths, the Soratnik line of sports pistols is made at the level of modern technical requirements and should become a reliable basis for training athletes.

Hunting in Kuban

Details Category: New weapons for hunting

A new review from SHOT SHOW 2014 is dedicated to hunting shotguns. A niche that in Russia we mean occupies 70% of the market, but abroad in fact it exists in 20% of cases, and that’s a stretch.

We will briefly look at the new Smoothbore Hunting Guns 2014 - New SHOT SHOW 2014 - Shotguns 2014: BERETTA, BENELLI, BROWNING, CZ-USA, MOSSBERG, REMINGTON, RUGER, WINCHESTER, and at the same time why 70 does not correlate with 20.

Andrey Shalygin: For the Russian hunter, of course, the shotgun segment is more understandable and familiar than the rifle segment, which we looked at yesterday . In general, the situation with hunting smooth-bore and rifled weapons in Russia resembles a very bad comedy. From this side, it’s even good that in Russia everything is so bad with hunting , because when there are 1.5 million not very rich people in the country surviving on shameful trunks, it’s somehow still possible to tolerate. Imagine in America 14 million hunters how they would feel with our prices and assortment, and even though there are weapons in the homes not only of hunters, but also not only for everyone with a barrel, not counting the short-barreled ones. Therefore, if a Russian hunter gets his hands on a rifled weapon, he will buy waste from the domestic military industry and rest on that . And if he is richer, then the monopolists of the segment will give him a sparse selection at triple the price compared to the American one. Two years after the premiere of the new product. And in general, in a review of one day of the World Show, I do not strive to include all the analytics of hunting smoothbore in the world. It would be wrong!

Hence, if we argue about rifled weapons in Russia, then only with slight variations in budget - around 1-2 models from T3 Tikka, Sako, Sauers of the latter, Steyr Mannlicher, and at a stretch Merkel and Remington for strong lovers of traditions. And then they can all be sorted strictly into shelves - which one is for what. And since hunting for large animals in Russia is an order of magnitude less than not only in America, but even in the Baltic states, rifled weapons are not sold out anywhere and as a result we are not confused in the choice - the monopoly on the arms trade does not give us them, - take it, they say they give it, and rejoice.

Not 20-30 rifles assortment in the American hunting version, and even minus all the tactics. Russian own screws for hunting in comparison with foreign ones are in no way suitable, if not for demonstrating jingoism, poverty and stupidity of the owner, because they are made according to the residual principle from what was in the arsenal of the Armed Forces, and as a substitute for a tactical niche that is missing in the country civilian weapons.

Therefore, the Russian hunter heartily loves the smoothbore, which he considers not at all to be a shotgun, but to be the only hunting weapon that can load both a bullet and everything that he himself poured and screwed on, to the fear of a foreign manufacturer of semi-automatic devices. Eh, not only are they not being cleaned with bricks, but now they are shooting with them. If they buy a foreigner, then they will certainly put a Glavpatron in it. Cheaper because...

Taking into account the triple profit of the Russian monopolist in the arms trade, the price of smooth-bore weapons in Russia, compared to the wild west, rises approximately three times, at least relative to imported retail. Therefore, you shouldn’t look for a buyer for a Benelli SuperVinci in Russia in cities and towns - the residents of the district towns themselves will show you them. And only in megacities such a client becomes a kind of mass, of which, however, there are not so many that a foreign manufacturer in Russia descends to the end user. At best, they will say - go to Kolchuga, or Russian Eagle, or just... to a dealer somewhere.

Of course, if the price of a normal gun, which is considered business class abroad, in Russia is 5-6 monthly salaries , then the average hunter has no choice but to go for a file version to a domestic manufacturer of strange devices, but at a competitive price. No, there are, of course, deranged lovers of planed pipes from Rogozin-ORSIS (who did not hold T3 and M82 in their hands), there are Tiger-SVD maniacs (who did not hold Steyr alpine carbines in their hands), but this is not an engineering question - this is where psychology is, where psychiatry is. If they are smart, sell them. Don't buy? Well, then continue to praise yourself. We sell thousands of guns to America itself, our gunsmiths are proud. Well, yes. Farmers take this with pleasure for cheap money as the tenth gun for the family to shoot impudent foxes, squirrels and coyotes, which are like rats scurrying around, and to drive drunken tramps out of the yard. And they don’t care at all how accurately it all shoots and how far or how densely, because they need a shotgun with performance - at 10 meters it shoots with a large shot in a wide scree with a thunderous sound, so that neighbors, coyotes and hooligans can hear 10 kilometers away, and so that it looks heavy and intimidating, or better yet, 100% reminiscent of Kalashnikovs. At the same time, it wouldn’t be a pity if the kids ruined this thing in the first week. That's why they buy it, because they carefully take care of their own hunting weapons.

But we ourselves are not so rich as to buy cheap things. And if anyone has tried a good semi-automatic weapon, be it even the Turkish Stoeger, or Altai, he will only look at the MP-155. And if you decided to buy at least a Benelli, then that’s it, gentlemen, another connoisseur of Russian weapons has disappeared completely and irrevocably. And you won’t force him to go hunting with something else. Although, there are options. There are these old boletus mushrooms that the grandson will give as a Benelli, and the grandfather uses self-rolling cartridges for them and writes stupid articles in yard magazines about what kind of crooked bullet can be put in there with what wad. And those who have never had anything other than Murka, and go through life only hunting ducks, hare and fox, agree with him - ours is better...

Therefore, I address this material primarily to sane people who understand hunting and weapons . And we will look at new items in the segment of smooth-bore hunting weapons, as we call them, but actually these are shotguns, or in other words, shotguns. To make it completely clear - Shotguns are guns that shoot primarily shotguns, gentlemen. A bullet is an option for them, and an uncharacteristic one at that. You need to shoot a bullet from a rifled weapon. This is what the Russian hunter does not want to understand at all. He wants everything at once from one trash heap. To make it completely clear, the Shot-Gun is both a Shot and a Gun because it is both short and shootable and has almost a pistol radius, so the play on words in the combination of a shotgun means that it is both for a short distance and shorter and shoots in general. Therefore, initially this segment should not want a breakable long-range double-barreled shotgun - this is unnatural for this class, if this is not a historical retrospective.

Today, the Shotgun is a lightweight, fast-firing close-combat semi-automatic with uniform scree and adjustable directional thickening of the cloud, which holds the maximum number of shot cartridges allowed by law (local localization is taken into account) designed to hit small, fast-moving game or a sports target. Everything else is an option and nothing more. Accordingly, smoothbores, also known as shotguns, have several different directions of development , also in connection with national and target localization, which, primitively and situationally, can be divided into the following official and unofficial types:

- sports - here only 2-3 options are really competitive, which manufacturers will never admit, but when in London, out of 15 medals, one brand wins 13 - even, excuse me, a fool will draw conclusions; however, it all depends on the type, because in the so-called sport not only ladders, skits, stands, trenches have appeared, but also 3D shooters, to which the usual sports guns have nothing to do with anything at all, but tactical farm equipment;

- so-called semi-tactics (we don’t have tactics, no, we don’t have it in the law on civilian weapons, not at all, not at all, and even in the instructions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and special forces of the Russian Federation it is not) for domestic needs, self-defense and simply to scare people - scarecrows , where Russian trunks belong; almost dissimilar replicas cheaply for profit - mainly China and Turkey, which the monopolists do not allow into the Russian market with all their hands and feet, and do not even disseminate information about them even in America, also protect the market; - what is not supplied to us, but is produced by us - tactical smooth-bore weapons that float from military policy to home defense, that is, they are intended to shoot in apartments, at banks, cardboard doors and dogs - these are all kinds of Saiga and there is something that is not a hunting weapon at all, and we won’t see anyone else’s except for pompares, the function of which is more to frighten by loading than to reload; - national shoots without a special purpose, for example, cowgirls and replicas that other nations are not interested in at all, but who cares what year this replica is, but they have it, and even more so because they shoot with both hands on horses, and on banks from 5 meters; - VIP bells and whistles, where a weapon is like a pipe with a watch - not a time to look and smoke, but a demonstration of status, and in principle, it doesn’t matter at all how it shoots and how convenient it is, how much it weighs, the main thing is how much it costs and preferably more expensive, but look even more expensive; and in the end, here’s a nice little addition - for waterfowl hunting, by which we generally mean ALL shotguns, which is not at all the case initially, but in our country this includes 70% of the smoothbore guns sold in Russia on a targeted basis, and in theirs this is only a small part of the market, not more than 20%; - well, and hunting smooth-bore weapons do not have a specific purpose “for waterfowl” (which the domestic hunter is not able to understand initially, since he believes that hunting is a duck), and with a duck gun you need to go after a wild boar - with these They walk far and long with guns and don’t fire in automatic mode, just imagine.

Accordingly, the one who compares models of different niches, and somewhere from under the fence notices, and why they are strengthening everything here so, however, a delicate thing, an English thing, if one person made it, the second will always be able to break it - he, of course, is an outcast of the soviet type . A gun for waterfowl has a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT not only tactics of use, but also a shooting psychology than a double-barreled shotgun or a side flint for a hare and a fox, not to mention the design.

Therefore, discussions on the topic - which is better than a semi-automatic 4 + 1, 7, or a horizontal with a side flint, and whether drilling with a tee is needed in Russia - we will leave to the marginality of the Hansa and to the yard magazines where not a single scribbler has any specialized education at all , because the people wisdom says that: The girl Masha always greeted the grandmothers at the entrance, and therefore was considered the most polite prostitute, and the donkey cannot be explained that he is an ass, because he is an ass from birth, and due to the size of his mind is not subject to treatment.

Therefore, sorry, moronic questions from villagers, such as: how to reload Rugers with lever loading while lying down, or, but 4 rounds in the magazine is not enough for me, but how to put the collimator on the horizontal, what is better for a wild boar, a Boar or a Tiger or a smoothbore bullet, and how tuning Saiga, or you can shoot Fetter from Benelli, which is better than MC 21 or MP 153, Tulka or former Izh, how to shoot a paradox from foreign semi-automatic machines, and everything else like that due to the insufficiency of ball brains - we consider in relation to comparing models We won't have shotguns. Best Shotguns of 2014 at SHOT SHOW 2014 - New Shotguns of 2014 - SHOTGUNS 2014

To begin with, I will send you to the material that I wrote specifically before SHOT SHOW 2014 , since it was quite obvious that in the most interesting segment this product would cause the biggest sensation: BENELLI ETHOS - a new super-reliable hunting smoothbore semi-automatic shotgun Benelli ETHOS - doomed new BENELLI product for success (PHOTO, VIDEO) .

Let's start with it. In general, if I were entrusted with choosing the worst video about Benelli Itos, then I would certainly choose the official video from the website of Beretta itself, which I show you below. This was filmed by Beretta ITSELF, and I had nothing to do with it. It’s how it was made, so you can see it on the website. Personally, I said everything I thought was necessary about the gun, so I won’t add more here.

Let me emphasize once again that, as in the previous review, I am not reviewing Beretta itself , although I will certainly provide certain materials on the company’s own materials. This is due to a number of reasons that I wrote about in the previous review.

As for the content, the official File-and-Stream video in Shot-Show-Daily mode about Benelli Itos seems more sane to me.

You will certainly be satisfied if, instead of lengthy conversations, I provide you with the original Beretta product catalog for 2014 and will not annoy you with stories about what I have already described separately many times before. A400 Extreme in Max - 5, you don’t need more.

Hunting shotguns BENELLI USA 2014

Benelli is this year showing the new Benelli Ethos 12 gauge semi-automatic shotgun with a new inertial loading mechanism designed to reliably handle ultra-light weights, and it will reliably handle all 12 gauge rounds, from 7/8 to the thickest 3-inch magnums. The gun is clearly designed for ducks and, thanks to its intuitiveness, lightness and blind loading with small weights, it will fit very well into Russian waterfowl hunting, including goose hunting offhand from a sunbed with low recoil in a reclining position. Unlike Remington, who clearly went into pheasant hunting, and Winchester, who clearly went into turkey meat, which is not typical for Russia, Benelli Itos definitely falls into the target niche of Russian hunting.

The new mechanism includes a locking mechanism that has been added to the body of the locking bolt, which operates even if the cartridge is driven forward without any force. The new receiver mechanism ensures guaranteed loading even when wearing gloves.

For the first time, a recoil damping system, previously used only for plastic stocks, was mounted on a wooden stock. Instead of a standard soldered strip, a carbon rib is mounted on the barrel with the ability to be replaced and adjusted without additional tools. Replacement fiber optic front sights are included in three colors. Finish options are available in either a black anodized or engraved nickel finish. Original product cost: copy999, black anodized receiver; $2,199, engraved nickel plated receiver. benelliusa.com

Does a hunter or farmer need a pump-action gun or not, is the stupid method of reloading even necessary from a psychological point of view for anyone at all (maybe it will have an effect on a criminal standing in front of a policeman, but in my opinion the greater effect is produced by a shot immediately, and the effects this should be left for girls, it’s only in the movies that you should make a speech before shooting and click with spare parts), and also how much more reliable a pump-action mechanism is than a semi-automatic (also psychiatry) - you’ll somehow answer this for yourself... Hunting shotguns MOSSBERG

Mossberg decided this year to bring on board the Robertson family from Duck Commander for advertising, so that not only Benelli in the USA would be happy , but at the same time to expand the line of Mossberg 930 Field with two new 12-gauge shotguns with 3-inch chambers - high-performance models with extended 12+1 feeders. For those backward provinces where 13 rounds are not allowed, you can take a cut-down version of five - a round tube is also included in each kit. So now Mossberg ads will be accompanied by brutal bearded duckaholics.

The Mossberg model 85123 has Kryptek Yeti camouflage - ( after Beretta and Sitka it is now fashionable to hex everything like a leopard, in the hope that the buyer will believe that waterfowl have such vision in which it all adaptively blurs like dragonflies into blots, so fashionable stupidity ), while model 85122 is a simple matte black gun. Both models have a synthetic stock, with a 28-inch barrel and fiber-optic front sight, threaded Akku-Set choke tubes. The front clip is supplied for an extended 12-round under-barrel magazine. The three new 2014 Mossberg models feature Kryptek camo and synthetic stocks. The Mossberg 930 JM Pro Series -10 chambered (85133) is built on the 930 platform and chambered in 12 gauge 3-inch. The full-length stock has a pistol grip. The Mossberg 590A1 -6 cartridge (51522) is built on the Mossberg 590 pump-action platform in 12-gauge/3-inch. 18.5 inch barrel cylinder. Mossberg 500 Tactical Rail models feature the innovative LaserLyte laser designed specifically for tactical rifles. Purely in meaning, it’s just a ring of red dots surrounding a common aiming center with an aiming dot. The pattern is implied to be shot-cloud dispersion down range. The outer ring of dots expands at a rate of 1 inch per yard as Mossberg implies that this is how shot cloud dispersion occurs on Mossberg shotguns. The laser is mounted on the bottom rail of two new 500 Tactical Tri-Rail 12-gauge/3-inch 500 series pumps, the 500 Persuader Tactical Tri-Rail (50599) and the 500 Cruiser Tactical Tri-Rail (50600). Each offers a full-length bottom rail and two smaller side rails for backlight use. The models differ in equipment - 20-inch 8-cartridge - 18.5-inch barrel and 6-cartridge. The Mossberg Flex system allows for tool-free, tool-free change and adjustment of the tactical attachment on any shotgun or rifle within the Flex line system. For 2014, Mossberg introduces the 500 series 20 gauge pump-action shotgun with Flex system for self-defense purposes. The Robertson clan will be advertising the entire Mossberg line, but the highlight will be the new Max-5 Realtree camo on a synthetic stock with the Duck Commander Duckaholics logo. Mossberg International SA-20 field semi-automatic shotgun chambered for 20-gauge/3-inch cartridge. 26-inch barrel with vented rib and interchangeable Sports Set diffuser. mossberg.com RUGER hunting shotguns

The Ruger is not a Russian gun by definition, since it is intended mainly for shooting at a gallop with reloading with one hand, and it is dear to America as a legend of the conquest of the Wild West, and it makes no sense to us at all, since we have almost no one hunting horses except in remote regions does not use, and the conditions and terrain are suitable for setting only in Altai. The Yakuts, however, do not need a shotgun; the Chukchi will also buy a Tiger, however. The Ruger Red Label was an American classic for many years and was discontinued in 2011, but it returns this year in a redesigned format with a changed center of mass and reduced recoil. New Ruger Red Label (SRP: $1,399) 12-gauge with 26-, 28-, or 30-inch barrels. See for yourself if you're interested. No to me. ruger.com

REMINGTON ARMS HUNTING SHOTGUNS

Just as in the case of Benelli Itos, a slightly modified version of the famous Remington VersaMax platform seems to be one of the most significant phenomena in the line of the most popular hunting smooth-bore semi-automatic devices. Therefore, here and now we will just give a small announcement, but we will return to this gun in a separate article.

Remington VersaMax Tactical 3 Gun (SRP: $1699) A proven popular platform that has earned the love of millions of users - the 12-gauge VersaMax has a 22-inch barrel and has not really undergone any special innovations. There is just enough installed so that when you turn it in your hands you will notice differences not only in color, but also in functionality, but I would not say that this has radically changed anything, so before the show I did not make a separate material on it, but in the announcement indicated that this is one of the two most anticipated new products. Yes, there are innovations here and there, but these are small ergonomics and design for the most part, an enlarged port, an enlarged button, an enlarged bolt, a magazine extension... well, it’s just nothing fundamental, but to say how much all the little things contributed to the overall result, You can’t tell without practice, so there’s no point in shaking the air.

Two new 870 pump-action 12-gauge models in the tactical line . The 870 Magpul FDE (SRP: $898.16) features an 18.5-inch barrel. 870 Tactical Pistol Grip (SRP: $496.50) with tactical diffuser and Pachmayr pistol grip remington.com

We kill pheasants differently from America and not as much, so for now I can’t say anything more about the prospects for VersaMax in Russia. So far they haven’t surprised me in any way and I rate the prospects of Benelli Itos much higher. Well, it’s just somewhere on the order of magnitude, I would even say. Remington's success in America is more of a local image phenomenon than a technical merit, so I would not overestimate it. And our hunts are different. Remington is for the most part a “pheasant shooter”, and therefore the gun is tactical from the start, and in most respects it doesn’t really look like a duck gun. However, the issue is controversial and without practice I will not undertake to say anything yet.

NEW DUCK GUN: REMINGTON VERSA MAX WATERFOWL PRO

Hunting smoothbore shotguns WINCHESTER WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS With Winchester in Russia the same as with Remington VersaMax, so far I don’t see any special prospects.

Yes, the guns are good, both those and others, but if Rem is a pheasant hunter, and there are only a lot of them on the Volga, then Winch has long been primarily specialized not in Indians, but mostly in turkeys. But we only have them if a wealthy neighbor has them in his garden. The new series of Winchesters also don’t look like duck guns to me. As they are called in detail, that is essentially what they are. Turkeys. WINCHESTER SX3 12 gauge and 3.5 inch Long Beard turkey model. It would be better if they didn't do this. It's all named as long as it looks Briley X-Full Long Beard Invector Plus , in the form of a pistol grip with three interchangeable pads for adjusting the grip, comb adjustment. Other features include a Truglo fiber-optic front sight with a fully adjustable folding rear sight weaver rail on a 24-inch barrel, in Realtree Xtra Green. This is all up and down, sticking out in all directions, all this does not add convenience in any way, nor does it add quality to aiming. No, if you hunt turkey while sitting in a chair in a tent on a bait site, then yes. But I wouldn’t even risk crawling with such a thing. That’s why Truglo’s components were partly used, since it would have been impossible to rely on our own architecture. The geometry had to be compensated for with something, at least with co-branding. Original product cost: $1,269.99. Winchester's new SXP pump-action shotgun offering for 2014 is the WINCHESTER Field Compact . The compact, 13-inch stock is designed for young shooters and those of smaller stature, such as ladies and teenagers. The 12-gauge SXP uses a cone system, a 0.742-inch back choke, and an Inflex Technology recoil pad. Available in 24-, 26-, and 28-inch barrels. Original product cost: $399.99. winchesterguns.com
