  7. After unscrewing the plug on the oil pan, let the oil drain into a prepared container. Do not rush to completely unscrew the plug. Turn it gradually until oil starts flowing. After this, feel free to remove it completely. It often falls into a container for collecting waste liquid. It's no big deal, it happens to many people. Getting it later will not be a problem.
  8. Be careful during the first couple of hours, because due to a warm engine, the oil may not only be hot, but also come out under pressure.
  9. The process of expressing the oil will take about 10 minutes. If you decide not to warm up the engine, then you will have to wait even longer.
  10. Be sure to remove the old oil filter on the VAZ 2114, which is located at the rear on the passenger side. It is usually easily removed by hand, but sometimes it does not just give in. Use a special key.
  11. When there is also no key to remove the filter, insert a screwdriver into the housing. Using it as a lever, the oil filter is eventually removed. But this is an extreme measure, which is still not recommended.
  12. Make sure the old filter gasket comes out as well. If it remains in its seat, remove it. For a new filter, be sure to use a new gasket. They often come included.
  13. About 100-200 milliliters of clean new oil are poured into the new filter, and the rubber gasket is also treated with lubricating fluid.
  14. Insert it into its rightful place and tighten it. The filter is screwed on until the gasket comes into contact with the surface. After this, there is no need to make more than 3/4 of a turn. This installation option is enough for the filter to hold firmly.
  15. Close the drain hole in the oil pan with a plug.
  16. Perform flushing if necessary.

Filling with new oil

  1. Head to the neck located on the valve box cover. That is, now you are working directly in the engine compartment. It's time to crawl out of the hole;
  2. To make it more convenient to pour liquid into the engine from a container with oil, use a small funnel;
  3. First fill in approximately 2.7 liters of oil;
  4. Whether you add it or not can be checked using a dipstick;
  5. Wait a while for the oil to settle;
  6. Now take the dipstick and check the level. Optimally, the oil should be at a level between the Max and Min marks indicated on the dipstick.   1. First of all, buy a sufficient amount of motor lubricant. Typically these are containers with a volume of 5 liters or more;
  2. Rags;
  3. Lubricant filter;
  4. 17mm wrench. For convenience, it is best to have both a socket and a socket version. This can make DIY changing procedures much easier. You should choose a high-quality tool, since the drain plugs are usually tightly tightened and considerable effort will be required to remove them;

The procedure for changing the lubricant yourself consists of several steps described below in the instructions:

  1. Using a 17 wrench, the drain plug in the tank is removed. In some cases, a regular wheel wrench may be suitable for this purpose. You must be careful when removing the cover, because if it has not been opened for a long time and is difficult to remove, then its edges can be torn off. This will lead to an increase in the price of maintenance costs;
  2. After the plug has given way and unscrewed 60 percent of the entire thread, you need to prepare a canister in advance into which the waste liquid will be drained. Also, do not put your hands under the lid, as the substance will still be hot and can burn the skin;
  3. Carefully remove the plug and wait for the draining to finish. It is worth waiting at least 10 minutes;
  4. Next, the filter is removed. It is usually located on the passenger side (see photo on the right). To dismantle it, additional tools are usually not required, but if difficulties arise, it is best to use a special key. To better know the location of this element, you can see the photo of the engine compartment structure. The images will also help to dismantle and replace the pressure sensor;
  5. After removing the old filter, you can begin installing the new one. To do this, you need to pour 200 grams of new lubricant into it, and you also need to lubricate the rubber gasket with it. Then you can put on a new filter. To secure it, 5-6 turns are enough. At the end, you need to screw the drain pan plug back on;
  6. Now you can start pouring new lubricant into the engine. For this, the neck on the engine is used, it is located on the valve box cover itself. To avoid overflow, it is best to use a wide funnel.

Do not completely pour in the entire required volume. For starters, 3 liters will be enough. After waiting for some time, you should check the fill level. It should be located between the “min” and “max” values. Now you can add everything else to the maximum allowable volume mark.

After the work has been done, you should clean the engine compartment from drops using a rag and you can start the car.

Replacing lubricant in a VAZ 2114 consists of the following steps.
